Take off by knowing God is your best friend!

Thank you for sharing this, Robert. It is so comforting.
Thank you so much RobertH for this link. A very timely article for me which I’ve saved for a deeper read. B.x
This is a great concept when we’re facing headwinds. Wonderful article based on that hymn. Thinking of God as our best friend is very helpful in communicating with God. I just talk to Him as a wiser, more experienced, all-knowing friend and mentor who loves me and all unconditionally and enjoys us. It’s very comforting in drawing closer to God.
Same when God gives you eagle wings (Isaiah 40:31).
Thank you Evan.
Thank you for this analogy, Evan.
I immediately got the thought that the power that enables the ‘planes to take off from the ground into the sky, is really emanating from God, and not from a material object called a ‘plane. The Bible tells us that ALL power belongs to God, and it also says that He will
not give His power to anything else.
We, as God’s own image and likeness, actually reflect the infinite power of God which enables us to take control of our lives, and utilise His almighty power to take off from the earthly false beliefs that would hold us into the limits of a material existence, and soar up into
heavenly heights, with Christ lighting our way upward.
The Bible tells us this in Genesis, that God has given man dominion over all the earth, and Christ shows us
by his teachings and demonstrations, how we can discover and utilise this ability. We have no power of our own, as Jesus told us he had no power of his own, but that he reflected spiritually all that belonged to our Maker We can find this ability within ourselves also..
What a revelation to find this ability within us, and
utilise it to “soar o’er time and space” . (see Hymn 136;
I love Thy way of Freedom Lord).
This is impossible to do if we believe ourselves to be material, but to find our spiritual identity and live it,
brings this possibility to light.
So let us take off joyfully, and soar and sing with the
angels, by the all-power of Divine Love, our
ever-present help in every right desire which
aims at glorifying Him.
Wonderful thoughts. Thank you for sharing.
Two other great quotes heard in Christian Science Class Instruction decades ago–“dead fish float on water,” & ” a boat only gets ahead by making waves.” Thanks SO much for the daily inspiration.
“Rising above adversity” By Mark Swinney. From the April 12, 2018 issue of The Christian Science Monitor:

This is a very timely message and quote. Thank you, Evan and all.
Like a boat can only sink if water gets inside, we seem to let erroneous
thoughts harm us, only if we let them inside our thinking. Sometimes
it seems we are surrounded by them, but with God’s power, we can
rise above them.
A recent widow to evil of the worst kind, had to respond to her three
year old daughter, when she had asked where her daddy was. Being a
very religious family, she responded lovingly, that he is “on a business
trip with Jesus”. Aren’t we all, really, on a business trip with the Christ?
That is, being busy with God/Mind/Spirit/Life/Truth/Principle/Soul/Love?
When we let the Truth of these thoughts keep us afloat and rising above
the material – mortal beliefs, we do not let in the matter beliefs that would
sink us into depression.
Hi Carol, I like your analogy of the sinking ship filled with water and how we can only be “sunk” by erroneous material beliefs if we allow them into our ship (our consciousness, where we reside). And as you say, leaning on God’s power, not our own, we can “stay afloat” above error’s suggestions, and thrive,
Thank you very much Evan . It’s a very interesting SpiritView today which leads to such lively and inspiring comments!
It’s such a comforting and healing article, Robert gives us the link to. It’s so worth reading! Specially in the last paragraph the author explaines how comforting and healing it is to have God as our closest and best friend as also Mrs. Eddy outlines in Science and Health. So we will never feel alone and can always talk to Him.
Thank you. J. for your link to the article by Mark Swinney. As here it’s already sleeping time I’m looking forward to read it during Wednesday.
I’m very grateful for the very helpful articles and for all your inspiring comments! ♡
