Before the raising of Lazarus, Jesus Christ gave thanks to God for the healing to come. It is written in John,
“…they rolled the stone aside. Then Jesus looked up to heaven and said, “Father, thank you for hearing me….Then Jesus shouted, “Lazarus, come out!” John 11:41,43, NLT.
And Lazarus walked out of the tomb alive.
Jesus thanked God ahead of time for the healing about to happen.
Do we do the same with every struggle we face? Do we see with certainty the healing that is to come and give God thanks for it?
In thinking about this, it occurred to me that if we are not giving thanks to God ahead of time, it’s because we doubt or have little faith. We don’t see a healing coming. And we stagger around in fear, worry and anxiety, giving power to mortal mind instead of to divine Mind.
We can correct this tendency by knowing the omnipresence of God’s good. Good is always here. It’s never on vacation, lost, hard to find or difficult to experience. It’s part of who we are.
God answers our prayers before we ask by being omnipresent goodness.
Jesus knew that God always answered his prayers. Even walking up to Calvary under the crushing weight of the cross, Jesus knew God was answering his prayers to live and conquer evil. And God did answer his prayer. Life triumphed over death.
And so it is in our lives. God always answers our prayers. It might not be in the way we have outlined, but God is always moving us to a greater understanding of the unreality of evil and the reality of good. Through trial, experience and increased understanding we see the light and are blessed.
It’s healthy to give God thanks ahead of time for healing. It breaks the mesmerism of mortal mind that would deny God’s present good. It reminds us that the problem we face is not fixed. It can be dissolved, and the power of God is present to dissolve it.
Thanks to God ahead of time is a quicker way to the healing we seek for it honors the presence of the solution we seek. No waiting necessary.
I really needed this reminder here to give thanks ahead of time. It does, really remove my doubt , and I can see clearly how healing will come more quickly with me out of the way. As usual, your loving messages, clarifies. Thank you, Merri
Merri Thank you for your thought of healing coming with me out of the way, I really needed this today
Thank you Merri for your clear view!
And thanks Evan for still another reminder of staying constantly alert and grateful.
Thank you. without the thanks there is a feeling of separation. me here, God there.
N
Thank you so much for the reminder Evan. Yes I accept it today but not previously when I was busy wondering what else do I need to understand or do. Jesus said, “I can of mine own self do nothing;” – John 5:30 (to 😉 Since God is all-acting man can do nothing by himself.
oops I meant John 5:30 (to 😉
oh oh I meant semi-colon. I don’t understand how the semi-colon 0n my laptop shows a face?
Thank you Evan, for this post on giving thanks ahead of the healing which is happening. The perfect way to remove doubt and anxiety. I needed this reminder.
I love this! Thank you so much Evan for this loving and powerful reminder to always thank our dear Heavenly Father first for the healing to come. So grateful!
This is so pertinent to the demonstrations we need to learn to Trust God. Sometimes, I know, I get all wrapped up in anxiety over how an outcome will be, should be, or how *I* would want it to be. This is so helpful in understanding that God has already worked His/Her purpose out and we need to not be the co-pilot and tell God what to do, but enjoy the journey. I am reminded of a magnet I once saw, that said, “I plan. God laughs.” Often, after looking back at challenges I’ve faced and overcome, I see Why these steps were needed to take me where I am today. Of course, at the time we are going through them, we wonder why things are ‘happening’ to us, often in a negative connotation, but things always do work out and usually Better than we could have imagined or planned for.
Thank you, Evan, for such insight and great inspiration.
Btw, teresa, I think the smiley is perfect! It’s like God is winking with affection and agreement in what you wrote. : )
So love this reminder to be faithful in the most challenging times when we are seeking healing. When we are faithfu,l true joy abounds and lifts us into the very revealing needed for perfect healing. Thank you, Evan.
Thank you so much for this wonderful reminder! I can feel the difference already! I am always grateful for what God does for me, but giving thanks before the healing takes place lifts us to new spiritual heights! Thank you!
Wow! This post sure underscores in flashing lights the wonderful healing I had yesterday!!
Heartfelt gratitude, Evan, for all you do to give us all a hand up!! As it said in last week’s lesson,
“I will open the windows of heaven and pour you out a blessing” – I count you as one of my blessings!!
“…it honors the presence of the solution we seek.”
Perfect. As when we put our feet on the floor every morning–we have no doubt that solid ground will be beneath our feet. In some form or another.
Thanks!
Thank you, dear Evan—this is printed out and is a “keeper.”…….to be read daily or whenever doubt tries to creep in! The beautiful song, “You Light up my Life” was just played on the radio and I thought “Yes, dear Father/Mother/God, you surely do!
Another winner! Loved all the heartfelt comments. Gratitude is always the way.
It is like wrapping up in warm blanket as it warms you.
I smiled as I read every word today! Thanks so much, Evan. Gratitude ahead wipes away any shred of doubt that good is ever present. Thanks, too, for all the helpful, enlightened comments. Great way to start the day and the week.
Why is it so hard thanking God before hand. God, who knows only the good should always be thanked for by this doing leaves evil in the cold so it can’t formulate. Isn’t that what you want?
I’m so grateful for God’s great love for each of us. While we seem to be thrashing about trying to find peace, comfort and healing, God maintains his perfect, harmonious universe, of which we are a vitally important part! His/Her love is infinite and never runs out. It is in control right now!
This post embodies Mark 11 verse 24, what things soever ye desire When ye pray believe that ye receive them and ye shall have them. Thank you so much.
