The benefits of clear thinking

Is your thinking clear today?

I explain the importance of clear thinking and how to maintain it in this vlog that was filmed alongside the Green River in the Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area in Utah when my wife and I visited the area in August 2022.

  1. Beautiful Vlog you shared with a very clear message..
It’s been helpful to me to ask myself the question each day “John, how real is God to you?”.
Happiness and peace are not found in the muddy waters of mortal living but in the life devine – in the Love that is all embracing all fulfilling.
What a gift to know this divine Love is available to each of us every day of our lives.

    1. John Qualtrough thanks for this idea.
Spirit View is a site worth following both spiritual encounters remind one to find heaven on earth.

  2. Thank you Evan – I love the vlogs too.

A human thought – if anyone is using laptop speakers to watch the vlogs, consider a pair of good quality headphones. It really is worth it.

The production quality is done so well that the audio is not distracting from the message itself, which is of course the most important. But like the visual canvas of beauty around him, the auditory canvas can also go with it when I wear my studio monitors. Again – the focus is on the message, but these details bring a sense of closeness that may not be heard with laptop speakers. It makes you want to watch multiple times.

Of course the headphones serve also to block out toxic sounds in my environment (not plugged into anything) when studying Christian Science too! Win-win. 🙂

    1. Good human point Brian. I too use my headphones to listen to many CS articles and lectures when my husband is watching tv. Especially useful whilst enduring so much football ! Another point being that we are still sitting together even though we are absorbed in completely different things.

  3. Love this Evan . Thank you so much , especially taking us to another beautiful place here on earth, that I wouldn’t experience otherwise.
Following what Brian said ..I use my headphones to listen to lectures and articles on CS very often , especially at present with such a lot of football on tv! This way my husband and I are not sitting in different rooms even though enjoying different things.
Wishing everyone a beautiful Love filled clear thought day❣️

  4. This lifted my thought far above those muddy contaminated thoughts that would try to trick me . Thank you so much Evan

  5. “Hold thought steadfastly to the enduring, the good and the true and you will bring these into your experience proportionably to their occupancy of your thought” . Such a wonderful quote from our textbook.
    Thanks to all.

  6. Brian you are so on the right track! “Happiness and peace are not found in the muddy waters of.material living!”It is found by understanding a little more each day our identity and life in Spirit. Not trying to be more comfortable in matter, improving it or fixing it. Every morning I start the day knowing I am the full representation of Mind, Love, Principle, all the seven synonyms, and matter is unknown!

  7. What a helpful analogy and reflection! The muddiness of mortal thought only would obscure, never host, happiness and every kind of good and beauty. Such as that awesomely clear Green River, which clarity of thought reveals is not a place in the world, but in Mind–and thus never truly out of reach. Thank you lovingly.

  8. Love that pristinely clear river, refreshing to watch it flow freely, unimpeded, as is our true quality of thought in divine Mind.

Also loved the quote on screen from S&H at the end of the vlog, “Let neither fear nor doubt overshadow your clear sense and calm trust, that the recognition of Life harmonious— as Life eternally is — can destroy any painful sense of, or belief in, that which Life is not.”

  9. Evan, your clarity on messages, delivered so lovingly, has been a touchstone for me for many months. Thank you for the reminder we are provided with “proof” around us everywhere that God is with us. Clearly the truth.

  10. Thanks to Evan and all! This one is a keeper for me.
Also, I thought I had kept a previous Vlog on understanding God. I cannot locate it.
Evan, I wonder if you could repeat that wonderful piece.

    1. Hi Betsy,

All my vlogs are publicly listed on my YouTube channel. Click on the YouTube icon up above in the right corner, and that will take you to the channel.

  11. Our conversation this morning led me to Unity of Good page 56:1, 57:28 to 58:4. “The chaos of mortal mind is made the stepping-stone to the cosmos of immortal mind.”
“The only conscious existence in the flesh is error of some sort,–sin, pain, death–a false sense of life and happiness. Mortals, if at ease in so-called existence, are in their native element of error, and must become dis-eased, disquieted, before error can be annihilated.”
We need to keep thought in the clear, calm, heathful waters of Truth, as Even has pointed out,

  12. Thank you Evan. The thought that would not leave this morning when I awoke. Hurry ,worry ,fear and pressure ,bring not that peace of mind we treasure ,but loving God and doing His will bring Life and joy and peace be still.

  13. Thank you, Evan. Peaceful and clear! Made me think of William Blake’s Laughing Song:

When the green woods laugh with the voice of joy,
    And the dimpling stream runs laughing by;
When the air does laugh with our merry wit,
    And the green hill laughs with the noise of it;

When the meadows laugh with lively green,
    And the grasshopper laughs in the merry scene;
When Mary and Susan and Emily
With their sweet round mouths sing ‘Ha ha he!’

When the painted birds laugh in the shade,
Where our table with cherries and nuts is spread:
Come live, and be merry, and join with me,
To sing the sweet chorus of ‘Ha ha he!’

  14. Another thought you all brought out in me, is to try and see the good in everything, even if at first appearance it does not seem to be so.

For example, what if there was a rusted shopping cart right in the middle of that stream? I can remove it by turning the symbol on itself, and trying to see it as what it really is – God bringing me a bountiful supply of beauty in a cart full of love.

Oh yeah! Just put the Allman Brothers “Blue Sky” into my headphones. Timeless.

  15. Thank you Evan for returning me to the beautiful Green River which runs through Flaming Gorge! My husband and I served there for Sixteen summers as volunteers for the USForest Service.. You are so right about the clarity of the water. Our time there brought joy, calm, peace, hopefulness, loving kindness from all parts of the world. Like infinite Mind the purity of thought and the power of God’s care for all can be felt as well as seen and we were and are so grateful. Divine Love truly and purely flows!

  16. Thank you all for your wonderful ideas to today’s SpiritView.
,How wonderful to see that there are such crystal clear and pure rivers in face of durty beaches what we see and hear about in the news.
Thank you Evan for this lovely Vlog!
Yes we must keep the river of our thinking clear through praying, studying the lesson sermon and listening to God’s advices and guidance.
Evan I just listened to one of your wonderful lectures in your YouTube Chanel you just explained to Betsy how to get to your lectures and all your former Vlogs.
Thanks dearly for all your lectures and Vlogs and your healing SpiritView Blog!

  17. What an extraordinary Spiritview from a beautiful Vlog of the Green River with its clear waters, to the clarity of thought reflecting Mind/God, and on to William Blake’s “Laughing Song”, and the Allman Brothers “Blue Sky”.
    All joy❣️ Thank you all!

  18. Joyce – thank you so much – I have never read Blake before! I’m looking forward to getting acquainted with his writings.

So far, it reminds me of a few years I spent in Bedford, UK, and a kindly farmer used to let me sit on his lands and get my head together once in awhile, as beautiful as Evan’s vlog environment.

    Awesome, thank you!

  19. Oops – Marian, thank you for the poet Blake mention! New to me, but won’t be much longer.

Long story short – you helped erase 50 years of my ignorance of the national hymn / song “Jerusalem”. It isn’t Christian Science, but now I know why it drops me to my knees emotionally, whether heard at royal weddings, or on my ELP album.

    Thanks!

  20. Wow! Between Evan’s inspiring blog and the beautiful, clear Green River to the Blake poem and all the responses, I feel Divine Love’s harmony and Soul’s beauty permeate my thoughts today. Thank you all so very much. Love, Karen

  21. Shout out to Karen Neff…Karen, thank you for your wonderful Daily Lift on “The Christ continues to heal today” and your article that was included! 🙂

  22. yes I am also very grateful for Karen Neff’s very helpful and wonderful DailyLift. The Christ is healing still today for sure!!!
Thanks a lot dear Karen, so needed and very uplifting!♡

    1. wow, and now I read Karen’s relevant full Sentinel article to today’s DailyLift which one can click on under the DailyLift.
This article is very worth reading as it explaines deeper her testimony and the Christ as God’s thoughts speaking to man, so wonderful – thanks again dear Karen!!

  23. Wow, these lines from Blake just won’t let me go..

“I will not cease from mental fight
nor shall my sword sleep in my hands”

When is it time for me to stop fighting mortal-mind and put up the sword? Perhaps if I want to build Jerusalem.

  24. Yay! Healed!

Without going into detail, I can say that Science and Health came to the rescue, and I have totally lost the sense of melancholy when listening to “Jerusalem”. Rather, a sense of proper joy with the national hymn/song has been achieved after many year’s standing with this problem.

I can also enjoy the poetic works of Blake, newly introduced to me, without any sense of melancholy either. Whew! 🙂
