The effect of righteousness will be peace, and the result of righteousness, quietness and trust forever.
Righteousness leads to peace. Righteousness is right thinking, spiritual thinking.
When thought is dominated by love, patience, forgiveness, charity, goodwill, seeing the good in others, and their kin, thought is in a peaceful place. Peaceful states of mind produce peaceful states of existence.
If thought is lost in anger, hate, resentment, ill-will, and negativity, thought is in a bad place, and the effect is turmoil, anxiety, conflict, and unrelenting fear.
Choose to keep thought in a good place. Choose to love, not to hate. Choose to think rightly.
Choose peace.
…leading to peace.
what a wonderful message for today, and at this time in general.
Again, thanks.
Righteousness of God, yes? vs. all of those negative qualities, which are fruits of self-righteousness, taking offense at this or that.
Just saw the first part of the next season of “The Chosen” –which, so sadly, does not grasp the deep spiritual meaning of healing — but it does dramatize the stark difference between the fury of Pharisaical righteousness and Christly compassion, –the Messiah’s mission not to be the king who raises an army and lifts them to superiority over all nations, but as one whose gentle mission is of universal care for every dear child: (Matthew 25:31-46 “inasmuch as ye have done it unto the least of these my brethren..). And the stark difference between Mary’s costly sacrifice, washing her Savior’s feet, realizing the stupendous love behind his impending self-sacrifice — and Judas’ fury at her not using the money to make their lives more comfy.
Made me question if I am daily praying to lift thought to Truth’s almighty righteousness to meet my daily needs, or to meet the crying needs of “these the least of these my brethren.”
“not to be the king who raises an army and lifts them to superiority over all nations,” is clearly a political statement about the United States. This is a blog on spirituality…respectfully, please do not bring politics into this peaceful haven where it does not belong.
And also respectfully, things often pass through the filter from which we presently see that day. Today I saw that I have been most of my life seeing through the conflict, criticism and unkind nature that I have allowed. I am currently in the last 3 days of my CS class. I am so grateful for this teaching.
And grateful for you, and all—
Blessings!
Respectfully, J – I thought the message diane brought out was vey good, and I see it as a helpful spiritual observation. . She is commenting on a film, presumably on TV, – I don’t know anything about it – but she seems to have made a good observation between what Christ teaches, and seeing where the film is not quite in tune with it.
If I have got it wrong, please can someone
who has watched this film, explain how. There were a lot of political situations
Jesus had to face down in his day, and so
must we.
Hi Maggie. I too thought Diane’s message was very good. But in the U.S. right now there are “No Kings” political protests and I think J assumed Diane’s using the word “king” in her comment was a reference to those protests and not just a valid comment about the fact the Jews were hoping for a Messiah that would become “King” of the nation of Israel and drive out the Romans. Unfortunately this happens a lot these days where someone makes an innocent comment and someone else sees something political in it.
John: 18:37 Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.
Thank you, Robert – I see what you mean. I feel it depends on whether you personalise things or see them impersonally, I think, as thoughts, not people. Seeing things as right or wrong thoughts makes it easier to adjust one’s
own thoughts to be in line with Christian Science.
Dear J. It is good of you to jump to the aid of this lovely spiritual habitation, and I appreciate that.
I didn’t answer your question Maggie about The Chosen. It’s a TV series about the life of Jesus. You can read more about it via the link below. You can watch it for free on YouTube. I think it’s also available on Netflix.

And I hope my comment wasn’t offense in any way to J because I didn’t mean it to come across that way. From all of the frequent comments on this blog of appreciation to J I hope J knows the readers of this blog love J. And I do too, so I send my love to J and appreciate J’s comments and all of the articles J shares so lovingly with us!
Thank you RobertH for answering my question about the film – I suspected it might be a TV series, We don’t have a TV,
we dispensed with it years ago, and I am notsure if this is being shown on TV in the U.K.
I couldn’t reply directly after your explanation as the invitation to reply seems to be missing.
I don’t think this is the main intention of Diane’s comment – and even if it is, the reference is gently couched so as not to cause offence. Whether we like it or not, politics is one of the issues in human life that have to be confronted and dealt with, even in a ‘spiritual’ blog.

John B. – Thank you so much for sharing this video – it is really, really wonderful – so inspiring. This is what we are all meant to be doing every moment as
Christian Scientists, and, as Mark relates – it truly brings out our true being as dwelling in `Love’s kingdom, as we become more of a living transparency of Truth and Love.
Evan, can you please remove my comment above. Thank you.
I have watched The Chosen through the eyes of a Christian Scientist and in that respect I’ve enjoyed the movie we take from it what we know is good and what we feel Maybe off considering our thoughts about it. it’s very entertaining and it makes me feel more of a Christian scientist if that makes sense. I see the blessings from the story.
I have watched several seasons of The Ghosen and find it made me feel even more devoted to my study of Christian Science. I really enjoyed meeting Matthew.. I find him very quirky and delightful along with being very smart.. The series does more to bring the Bible into our consciousness.
