The easier way

August 31, 2010 | 2 comments

A friend complained recently that she was having a tough day because others were doing things she didn’t approve of and it was very hard for her to be kind and loving to them because of their actions.

Without missing a beat, I replied, “Oh, it’s much easier to be loving than to get angry and upset!”

And I really meant it.

Think about it.

Which is easier to hold within–love or hate?

It’s hard to get angry. It’s really tough on one really. It hurts, it feels bad, it saps our joy, takes away our delight, drains our health, depresses our perspective, makes us unpleasant to be around, casts a dark cloud in our thinking. I mean honest to goodness, it’s really hard on one’s well being to be angry! Carrying around the onerous burden of resentment, ill-will, grudges and ire is really hard work.

It’s much easier to love and be kind.

When you love, you feel good. You brighten up, you feel lighter within, happier, more joyful, and more positive. It’s healthy to love and spread goodwill around. It blesses others, blesses yourself and makes life so much more enjoyable.

Instant forgiveness, gratitude, charity, mercy, seeing the good, and so on, are prescriptions for joyful living.

It’s easy to love. It’s hard to hate.

So choose the easy way today and enjoy life! Love more and hate less.

Cheers,
