To stay healthy

Millions of people are on the quest for good health, and often trying different ways to stay healthy, from adjusting their diet, to exercise programs, to reliance on pills.  But there’s one area that is often neglected.  And that is paying attention to what is running through consciousness.

We experience what runs through our consciousness, so if we desire to improve our experience, it’s wise to pay attention to what we are holding to in thought.  The better the thought, the better the outcome.

Mary Baker Eddy wisely instructs, “We should prevent the images of disease from taking form in thought, and we should efface the outlines of disease already formulated in the minds of mortals” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 174).

To stay healthy, keep thought so filled with spiritual truth and love, that images of disease are nowhere to be found.

Your native mind is the divine Mind, the Mind of God.  And this Mind is filled with peace, love, harmony, order, inspired thinking and reasoning, wisdom.  It has no affinity to disease, nor inclination to entertain disease.

Think out from the Mind of God and know only what God knows.  It’s a healthy safe place to be.

  1. I do understand but the clamor of injustice prevents me from keeping my thought
    pure and free.
    Thank you, David

    1. I think you must discipline yourself to think only the good thoughts just as you train a dog to obey your command. If we realize that God is taking care of the universe then we see and know what the Bible tells us,” Can not the judge of all
the earth do right? We trust him with those injustices. Jesus said, Not my will but His will be done.”

    2. Might the “clamor of injustice” be merely a matter of (political) opinion? Are there not many who hear and see past injustices being corrected?

    3. Once, when I was heading to New York City on the train, I suddenly got a feeling of apprehension brought about by negative news reports and the huge scale of the place. I had to spend the day there alone, so I did what the Bible tells us to do: I turned to God to seek what he had to say to me. (Ask, knock, seek!) The message I got from God was “I’m in control here.” God’s immensity suddenly seemed way bigger than the city. No detail could escape his righteous scrutiny. I felt a benevolent presence permeating everything. The day not only went smoothly, but I had people come up to me. Two smiling women wanted directions to where I had just been. As I sat eating a sandwich on a bench, a smiling woman came over and chatted for a moment as if delighting in seeing a friend. At a meeting, while on a break and everyone else was on their cellphones, a smiling young man came over to talk about his projects and career.
An article that may be helpful is by Justin Long in the September CS Journal “Transforming our universe.” Maybe someone kindly can provide a link. It has better examples than these about the reality of God’s justice and how to see it.

      1. Thank you, Kay. I do not as yet have the September Journal. I did a search of articles by Justin Long and “Transforming Our Universe” was not offered. I look forward to the September issue and will gladly post the article if someone has not already done so.

        1. I don’t believe that the articles from upcoming issues are posted on JSH before the actual date of the issues so the September Journal will be searchable on September 1st.

  2. God is just – He is the lawmaker. Anything that presents itself to us as unjust could not be attributed to God. There is no other God but the one infinite God good. Anything that suggests another power apart from God is evil and therefore, as Christ declared to us, is a lie – that is all it is.

When we hold thought to the
“enduring, the good and the true, we will bring these
into our consciousness proportionately to their occupancy of our thoughts”. (MBE)

So by making the effort to turn away from the lies and keeping the spiritual facts in our thoughts, the lies becomes obvious to us as lies, and they have no more hold over us. This also helps to destroy the lies for all mankind.

Having the mind of Christ, our true mind, keeps us
pure and free, and is the spiritual fact now and forever. Let all power be given unto God.

    1. What a wonderful Treatment for our world,Maggie-Clear and persistent good! Thank you-And thank you to Evan for this wonderful message today.

    1. Good morning to all. Thanks for all the good sharing. Good is not helpless, Science and Health 207:11; and p.403:14-16 we are reminded that “mortal existence is a state of self-deception and not the truth of being.” Also p.252-253 “material sense says I am wholly dishonest and no man knoweth it…Spirit bearing opposite testimony saith….Man whose senses are spiritual reflects the infinite understanding….:And 387:23-32 ….omnipotent Mind gives man faith and understanding to defend himself….”

  3. Thank you everyone and Mark.. seeing each of your words totally as MIND and
not mixed with any debate of physical .. material.. teasers
,…or wondering Whose talking.. whose rules … but One Mind..
“hearing the natural unity , seeing over , ..always ..’ on the mountain ‘ ,
as Elijah, in the lesson this week, .”.The hand of the Lord was on his shoulder,,”
He KNEW it,.. infinite power….Gods gift , ..Holiness…one home.
What calms…the storm of thought….intuitively, naturally Peace becomes ‘us’ ..
there is no place for fear or doubt, becalm-ing now..
His impersonal touch. No ones unknown to our Father/Mother
If its on Elijahs shoulder …so is His hand on ours, be still.
Thank you everyone,.. its not our battle….drawn to the Perfect Idea God.. so pure, yielding merging hope faith, understanding is… ‘standing on the rock’

  4. The one infinite God is always beyond the finite limited perception of human life having a beginning, middle, end view of life.

  5. So many wonderful ideas and spiritual thoughts expressed here today!
Thank you All! The clear truth of our spiritual being is as the beautifully
blue water and so lovely scenery above. : ) It brings such a feeling of
a delightful place to be … in Mind, in Soul, in Spirit, in Love.

  6. Thank you Carol to remind us of Evan’intro with the
    Sweet picture.
Thank you Evan for:” your native mind is the Divine Mind, the Mind of God”
Thank you Barbara UK:” keeping us on our spiritual TOES!!

  7. I am reminded of the famous poem by Robert Frost..especially the last verse… The Road Not Taken
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
    To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,

    And having perhaps the better claim, Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way, I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

The road to Spiritual understanding ? Of course ❣️
