Unexpected kindness

Unexpected kindness is the most powerful, least costly,
and most underrated agent of human change.

Kindness that catches us by surprise
brings out the best in our natures.
~ Bob Kerrey

Has anyone ever gone the “second mile,” for you?  Maybe you were at a low point and they stopped what they were doing to extend you a helping hand.  Maybe a customer service agent was much more helpful than you expected.  Maybe an unexpected gift or bonus came your way. When it happens, doesn’t it make you feel good?  Isn’t there a special warmth and comfort that wells within that says, “That was really nice, and so unexpected.”
The same good feeling that comes to us when someone is unexpectedly kind to us happens to other people when we are unexpectedly kind to them! And it brings out the best in everyone.

  1. We are all FULL of the ability to share unexpected kindnesses with others! And it makes us feel so much better, no matter what kinds of challenges we are having at the moment.

I am always deeply touched when I see these kindnesses expressed by those around me, and it encourages ME to do more, too – – – even if we think we have nothing to share but a smile and an expression of gratitude. But we can always behold the Christ in others! sas
