Yes Grace, it is on the human “level”, but Jesus gave us the balance
in the Lord’s Prayer — “On earth, as in heaven -Thy will be done, OurFather!”
And prayer does heal
whatever needs healing
in the relationships — both sides.
Of course the above quote is a very human perspective. I know that prayer has erased hurt feelings in my life many times.

Unfortunately it can also be what they THINK you’re thinking, in person but especially with emails and texts, where non-verbal cues are missing.
But, Love exposes and bridges all seeming gaps.

It is so true, almost painfully so, sometimes. How often we (I!) would like
to retract words not expressed as kindly or lovingly as we would have.
I read somewhere that our tone of voice is more important than the words we use,
for the tone delivers the message even more.
Mary Baker Eddy in her book, Miscellaneous Writings 338:20:
“It needs the overflow of heart, to give the lips full speech.”
I’m going to really work on this!

I remember as a new parent I was told it is never the doing but the perspective. I find this true again and again especially as I listen to people who are saying the right thing but the perspective is unbalanced. Also, when I am not being totally honest in what i am trying to say I see it picked up by the person I am talking to. Clean your consciousness.
I just thought of this , probably because I am watching my children become parents- It was said to me that the baby ‘nurses ‘ on your consciousness. If you want to change your children, change yourself, your consciousness.

Our constant view of our spiritual thoughts leads us to express what our intended purpose should be.
So true, whether we are the speaker or the recipient. A poem, “Reflected,” that was given to me says, “What you hold in your heart, you wear in your face.” The same is true for the words we speak or write. If they come from the heart of love, they will be felt that way.
Very, very true. Since our words come from our thoughts. Right thinking should lead to right speaking. Like SpiritviewFan, I, too, am still working on this and many other things.
You are right Evan, people feel our thoughts – so we should really mean what we say to them. It is not always easy. If you have trouble with somebody and you will not directly tell them what trouble you have with them, you say something friendly but you have still this problem with that person in mind – thats no good for you a n d for the other person. I understand thats ment with “to express the thoughts you want them to hear”.
Grace is right, prayer about the situation – prayer that God gives us the right idea what to say in every situation – brings the solution!
I need to think about this more . I’m trying to see how it relates to me in my life and the people I engage with. When my choir director tells us to keep it real we seem to sing with more heart and more feeling. When I did this yesterday I got so emotional I couldn’t sing. The song touched me so deeply .

If our thoughts are pure, good and loving then our speech will very naturally be good and soothing to the ears. Its very unethical to think or feel bitter about a person and then you go and sweet talk to that same person.
I have observed so often that even in a situation where the material sense sees hardness and rudeness in a person’s behavior, if we start seeing such a person as God sees him/her,i.e. with our spiritual sense, then the good feelings we have will be received very well. There will be a shift in the behavior of that person and you will see the loving and good child of God instead of the rude and unkind picture. We need to uplift our thoughts and feelings, and correct them, instead of judging or criticizing….
We can not change the world….We need to change our thoughts about the world and then we see the lovely change we wish to see in the world.

When in conversation with others in whatever form, one on one or groups of diversity, I always keep in mind there is only One Mind, One Communicator voicing whatever good and right through each of us and relax in this comfort my interactions with people.
