Have you ever watched an old rerun on TV and were able to recall what was going to happen next in the sitcom even though you hadn’t watched the show in years?
In surfing across channels, I’ve glossed through old reruns of shows I watched when I was a kid. Often, I could instantly recall what the show was about and what was going to happen even though I hadn’t thought about that show for 30 years.
There’s an interesting spiritual lesson in this occurrence.
A friend pointed out to me recently that this instant recall of old scenes implies a whole lot of memories stored up in the human mind that linger in the background hidden away from conscious thought, but nonetheless are present.
In thinking through the ramifications of such a state, it became clear to me that not only might the human mind hold a pot load of good memories in store, it could also hold a truckload of bad memories, recollections that are not screaming for attention daily, but are still trolling the passageways of background thought causing hidden harm.
What to do about it?
There’s only one certain solution that I know of.
Get out of that mental house!
Get out of the human mind into the divine Mind.
In divine Mind, the memories are always good, spiritually inspired, and promotive of health, harmony and well being. There are no haunted chambers of thought in divine Mind from yesterday to plague prosperity today. There are only impressions of spiritual reality, God’s goodness, and present peace. Staying in this Mind is the antidote for the old re-runs of mortal mind.
So, “come out and be separate” as Paul instructed. Come out from the belief that you are a human mind carrying around a bunch of mortal memories, some good and some bad. You are not a human mind beleaguered by troubled mental images. You are a reflection of the divine Mind, a consciousness filled with spiritual good.
The only “reruns” going on in divine Mind are everlasting scenes of peace, heavenly comfort and spiritual joy.
Enjoy the show!
Another perfect post, Evan.
I am so grateful for your daily messages.
Get out of the mortal house and into the mansion of God, Spirit!
Thank you.

Thanks! I’ve spent too much time in this old fixern
-upper!
So grateful for the way you make this clear; the past month I had an experience where I really had to learn this lesson and think I can stay in God’s house from now on. Vicki
I was just mentally beating myself up a bit for some mistakes 15+ years ago. What’s the need and point? It’s not who I am and so doesn’t need to affect me.
Once again a post specifically made to order (wink).
Thanks Evan!
Mortal mind attempts to mire me in those pesky reruns of past mistakes, bringing also regret and self-depreciation. I notice this especially as I attempt to deepen spiritual consciousness (pray). Thank you for this excellent post — surely the basis of an exploratory article on the subject.
