Your job may have been labeled as either essential or not essential over the last year, but there is one activity that will always be essential no matter what is happening in society around you. It is worshipping the one God and keeping thought in a high spiritual place!
When thought is in a good place, one’s experience stays in a good place.
Spiritual mindedness is essential because it keeps us in touch with God. It keeps our thought open to instruction from the voice of wisdom on what to do next that brings the best result.
God is the source of all good. When human streams dry up, God’s streams of Love keep on flowing. Spiritual mindedness keeps us open and ready to receive what is coming from above that meets the human need.
Disappointment, discouragement, despondency, anger, and frustration are not essential. They are not necessary or required.
Hope, faith, trust, confidence in Truth, and understanding of God as infinite Love, are essential, for they keep us in the abundance of heaven and able to demonstrate supply, health, and happiness.
Stick with what is essential. Love God. Keep learning about God everyday and putting your newfound understanding into practice. Keep your spiritual mindedness on high alert and don’t let it wane or waver.
Spiritual mindedness is essential. It’s backed by God, and is never shut down.
Thank you, Evan. Your inspiration today brings this hymn to mind:
Make channels for the streams of Love,
Where they may broadly run;
And Love has overflowing streams,
To fill them every one.
(Hymn no 182)
So important to distinguish what is Essential (loving and trusting and understanding God) from what is non-essential (anything that would dispute the ALLNESS of God). I loved the statements that, “spiritual mindedness keeps our thought open to instruction from he Voice of Wisdom” and “open and ready to receive what is coming from above.” Comforting to know we don’t have to figure things out “on our own” with a human mind.
This quote from Phil 4:8 came to me about resting our thought in the right place, “whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”
I’m tagging on to you Rose today because exactly the same bible quote came to my thought too ! This is such an important message to bring us, thank you dear Evan. I’m so grateful for Spirit View. It is essential for keeping me focused on my ‘essential ‘ being, my understanding of CS and my living Love ❣️
So cool that you thought of the same bible quote, we are in tune! All blessings to you today as we are lifted and up focusing on essential truths.
Essential…this reminded me of a quote..
And now here is my secret, a very simple secret: it is only with the heart that one can see rightly, what is essential is invisible to the eye.
Antoine de Saint-Exupery
God is essential..Thank you Evan
Thank you for the quote Cynthia, it’s from his amazing book, The Little Prince. I came across it many years ago as a young adult and fell in love with it. Later I read it to my daughter. A children’s book with profound meaning, for the wondrous child of God in all of us.
Thanks Evan for the wonderful inspiration. Yes many have lost their jobs during the lockdown period, but as you say…all material streams may dry up God’s fullness is the same and it never dries up. What we need to do is to keep spirituality attuned and be conscious of Gods infinite love for us, which meets our every need abundantly. God the all knowing, all seeing all acting, all loving, all wise Mind…knows our needs even before we ask. We just need to completely yield to His care and His best plan for us will very naturally unfold…He who has made our heaven secure, will here all good provide. When Christ is rich can we be poor? No…then what? Our great concern should be only to love and praise God more.
Just like a child who never worries and all his/her needs are met by the parents so beautifully, let’s also place our hands in our Divine parent’s safe hands and cross the challenges of life confidently and joyously being absolutely confident that our Divine parent will supply all our needs abundantly.
As understanding grows it there is less to focus on and more to rest in
Oh! I love that, Nadine
Perfect Nadine, thank you, Evan and all. 🙂
Wonderful sprit view lens today (and everyday)! We all have been learning what is Essential during this time and Evan underlines it for us! Thank you Evan
This is excellent, Evan. Thank you.
Thank you so much for the confidence-inspiring message! A Sentinel Watch radio program replay I heard by telephoning 214-HisWork once told of a Christian Science Practitioner explaining to a patient that painful thoughts are not our thoughts, we can dis-own them. How empowering too! Today a strong sense of accepting only angel thoughts, which Mrs. Eddy describes as “God’s thoughts passing to man” , is coming to me as I prepare for Easter. Your reminder to stay steadfastly spiritually minded helps me focus on what is real, not just a distraction.
Thank you very much, Evan, for remind me that I work for God. He is my only Boss and my job is so essential for Him every day. And this is the Truth for me and for everybody! Praying is so essential!
I think this is a topic that should possibly be expanded on and submitted to the Sentinel or Journal? So good Evan. Thank you. I want to read more on what you have to say about this.
I agree, that would be wonderful!

Thank you very much dear Evan for the spiritual view you give us on “what is essential ” for us all. Yes, it is God, and only God whom we let guide us!
Thank you very much for your inspiring comments, dear SpiritView friends !♡
Just want to mention that I did not yet get SpiritView in my inbox although it is 9 pm here. But I know we can get it by clicking on “newer” of yesterday’s SpiritView.
Am very grateful and happy for Evan’s so inspiring and helpful SpiritView and for the lively and helpful comments every day!!!
O Lord, I would delight in Thee,
And on Thy care depend;
To Thee in every trouble flee,
My best, my ever Friend.
When all material streams are dried,
Thy fullness is the same;
May I with this be satisfied,
And glory in The name
(1st stanza from a pocket hymnal with words only. It’s from Hymn 224, 225 by John Ryland.)
Thank you very much dear PL for those wonderful words from hymn 224, 225!
As I read tomorrow in our CS church, I will take this hymn, as it suits well to my reading.
It is indeed a wonderful hymn I do love very much as it is so comforting and with much love to our omnipresent God!
