Where is your faith?

“When we come to have more faith in the truth of being than we have in error, more faith in Spirit than in matter, more faith in living than in dying, more faith in God than in man, then no material suppositions can prevent us from healing the sick and destroying error.”

~ Mary Baker Eddy, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 368

  1. There are many clear crisp statements like this one in our textbook.
I’m grateful to be learning of their powerful truths as I make the effort to put these into practice.
Last night I sat down to eat my dinner and realized I had some beetroot in the fridge which would improve the meal before me.It was in a screw-top coffee jar but try as I might I couldn;t loosen the top. I tried several times but to no avail.
Then I remembered God was always right there with me.
” Here’s something you can do, Father” I said.
Grasping the jar I tried again and the screw-top turned effortlessly. “Thank you, Father!”

Dear Mary Baker Eddy makes this statement in Unity of Good, page 7 : line 20 “an acknowledgement of the perfection of the infinite unseen confers a power nothing else can”.
How true that is. I’ve proved many times.

  2. Very very lovely Truth is selected by you Evan. Thank you so very much.
In fact the inspiration of today gives a lot of confidence and whenever discouragement tries to creep in during the course of a healing, I know I have to have MORE FAITH in the truth of being than in error, MORE FAITH in Spirit than in matter, and MORE FAITH in living than in dying.
Instead of being discouraged, we need to raise the bar of our faith… MORE FAITH….Then and then alone, “no material suppositions can prevent us from healing the sick and destroying error.”

  3. Good morning faithful. What better to have more of. May goodness reside in all. May understanding blossom in me today and each day of this loving journey. Thank you Evan for your inspiring blog. Thank you commenters for your love.

  4. How wonderful is it that even our simple needs are always met through faith and knowledge of God’s ever presence with us. I try to prove this every day. Thanks Evan and Love to all this and every day.

  5. Thank you Evan and commenters!

It is common practice among humans to take steps to “protect” or “secure” their valuables (e.g. cars, jewelry, etc.). But our spiritual treasures, like faith, also need to be protected/secured in consciousness to prevent losing sight of these spiritual valuables. As Nergish pointed out, discouragement is an example of a suggestion that would try to “steal” our spiritual treasures. Earlier today I found a SpiritView from 2012 accessible from the link below that clearly illustrates how aggressive suggestions can come to us and try to steal away our spiritual understanding and how important it is to defend ourselves against these types of suggestions. This posting was so meaningful to me I thought I’d share it with everyone else.

  6. Thanks so much Bid for reminding us of: “an acknowledgement of the perfection of the infinite unseen confers a power nothing else can”. I live alone and have had similar problems such as yours getting things open. I have prayed with “It is God that girdeth me strength and maketh my way perfect.”

Also, a special thanks to Brian for those two links to Evan’s blogs on MAM. I found both extremely inspiring and helpful. I have felt that same type of discouragement sometimes thinking that even though all things are possible, in this case they are highly improbable. Knowing and demonstrating the truths we declare are two very different aspects. There is much work to be done!

  7. It is so heartening to know that God gives us the faith we need. Mrs. Eddy states in Science and Health:

“The history of Christianity furnishes sublime proofs of the supporting influence and protecting power bestowed on man by his heavenly Father, omnipotent Mind, WHO GIVES MAN FAITH AND UNDERSTANDING whereby to defend himself, not only from temptation but from bodily suffering.” p.387:27-32 (Capitalization added)

We just need to claim this as the truth! (=
