Why do you do what you do?

“Whatever you do, do it to the purpose; do it thoroughly, not superficially. Go to the bottom of things. Anything half done, or half known, is in my mind, neither done nor known at all. Nay, worse, for it often misleads.”

~ Lord Chesterfield (1694 – 1773)

  1. Yes, Evan, this may mean we give more unselfishly and willingly of ourself. Then we know true healing is in place. Thank you, muchly.

  2. Thanks, Evan! This is very thought-provoking……I would guess that a lot of us do things out of a sense of survival and a need for feeling good. The more I study C.S. and dig deep into thought, the more I see that the true value of Life is doing things from a spiritual purpose. Maybe you could call it, “Living from Truth”….???!! Happy Februrary and Happy Leap Year to Everyone! Let’s Leap over every obstacle!

  3. Thanks Bevi for suggesting that we leap over every obstacle. I also thought of Leaping into the Kingdom of Heaven and staying there each and every moment of every day.

  4. Ask yourself; “Is what I do based on sincere prayer as to the right way of doing or is it selfishly getting some material thing done so to move to the next thing to get materially done. If this is prayer it resolves nothing for it’s not from a spiritual premise.
