Why not be conscious of God’s infinite goodness all the time?
There is no rule that says we must indulge fear, anger, worry, false belief and doubt.
The apostle Paul instructed us to put on the mind of Christ (Phil. 2:5). The mind of Christ is the Mind of God. It’s a consciousness of spiritual Truth and Love that brings heavenly harmony into our lives and keeps it there.
Why not be conscious of heavenly harmony all day and all night?
Why not be filled with gratitude, joy, selflessness, boundless love?
Why not think about ideas that bring healing inspiration?
Why not be so absorbed into spiritual reality, that all you know is good health and spiritual peace?
Why not know nothing other than God’s omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient Love?
Why not experience the best life has to offer?
Mary Baker Eddy writes, “Become conscious for a single moment that Life and intelligence are purely spiritual, — neither in nor of matter, — and the body will then utter no complaints” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 14).
Why not be conscious of spiritual Life and intelligence all the time?

Oh, Evan, this has been such a healing message today! I woke up with such fear and uncertainty. But then my first thought was from the Bible – trust God with all my heart, and lean not to my own understanding….. in all my ways acknowledge Him and He WILL direct my path.
I thought of Joseph in the Bible, one of my favorite stories – of this man who overcame all impossible difficulties from being thrown into a pit, sold into slavery, falsely accused, put into prison, ultimately rising to the second highest position of power, and saving the world from famine.
And of course the ultimate expression of overcoming everything, Christ Jesus. How Blessed we are to have the revelation of who we are, who God is, and that we, indeed, can have the consciousness of Christ, the Mind of God.
I started on, my list of gratitude, replacing my feelings of resentment with compassion, loving those who I was “feeling” had hurt me.
Instead, I chose to love them
So why not choose to see with the compassion, the compassion which Christ Jesus showed in his daily life and for all of time?
Why, not indeed!

Thank you very much for sharing this perfect poem today J. And also a big thank you for the interview you shared yesterday about gaining a better understanding of the Scientific Statement of Being. I was reading that on my way home from work yesterday and it gave such an absolute sense that my true being can reflect ONLY the Mind of God; that there is no other possibility. This brought me right out of a low, depressed mood. I saw in that moment that there is nothing about me that can be depressed. That the best treatment is to show someone why they don’t actually need a treatment because the thing (error) they are believing about themselves can’t possibly be true.

Hi Pp, I loved your statement that I realized my “complete spiritual innocence.” I hadn’t thought of it that way but it’s very accurate. I had realized there was no way for me to express anything but divine Mind, God and there is a purity and innocence in that; so I cannot be convicted by the lies of evil/error.

Dear Uta, Thank you for the reminder of the “Science of Being”. Will be
good reading this weekend. I also loved the hymn you mentioned
above that I had read and enjoyed very much. My reaction to what you
had written was to sile and relate it to the lesson this week. Christmas
– the Christ, Truth, is every day regardless where we are or what we are
doing. The Christ is always with us and Jesus’ precious teachings for us
are timeless and so revered.

In reading the “Science of Being” chapter, dear Uta, I found
comfort in a bit of stress I have been feeling about a required
vet appointment for my dog tomorrow afternoon. On page 295,
Mrs. Eddy writes, which I found helpful, “The universe is filled
with spiritual ideas, which He evolves, and they are obedient to
the Mind that makes them”. My dog is rather large/strong and I
am trusting all will be well and that I can control him around
other dogs, etc.
“Why not be conscious of spiritual Life and intelligence all the time?” Evan, your encouraging and enlightening blogs prompt us to do just that,– to see that we can live and move and have our being in the kingdom of heaven Now! Mary Baker Eddy writes in Science and Health, “God’s being is infinity, freedom, harmony, and boundless bliss.” What a beautiful and inspiring statement to ponder all day long!

Thank you Evan and all. Just the messages I needed this morning! “Be still, and know that I am God.” There is only One presence: :good, divine Love and we all dwell within it.
Such a healing prayer this is. It occurs to me this passage from S&H is so often read with the idea that ‘complaints’ from the body are confined to illness or disease. But really any suggestion from matter or materiality is a ‘complaint’ if it’s not known by divine Mind or true in divine Truth—satisfaction in matter is maybe just as much a ‘complaint’ as discomfort, which is a healing thought for me.

Vicki, “Be still, and know that I am God,” (Psalms 46:10) is a favorite of mine, thanks for mentioning it. So much power and peace in a few words.
Chas, I love how you expanded the meaning of ‘the body will then utter no complaints” to include anything that mortal mind/error tries to say. The body is like anything that we would call matter- whatever is false, limited, not representing any reality or truth, so yes we can see that a single moment of pure spiritual insight can destroy material beliefs or complaints.
The Psalms always have such peaceful comfort to them, dear Rose. I know
what you mean. When I think of the one you mention, I think of a shepherd
on watch with his sheep, in a pastoral scene – so calm and still at night, with
stars twinkling and peaceful, ambient surround. Lovely thoughts. You are so right.
