You are not aging

January 12, 2018 | 25 comments

If you are ever tempted to believe that you are aging, now is a good time to quit! You have eternal life with God that never ages.

Mortals think they age and then manifest the deteriorating conditions of that belief. But as Jesus Christ came to teach us, we are immortals with a spiritual individuality at-one with God in Spirit that never ages. Man, as Spirit’s expression, lives forever in perfect strength and health.

The Apostle Paul wrote, “…our dying bodies must be transformed into bodies that will never die; our mortal bodies must be transformed into immortal bodies” I Cor. 15:53, NLT. This transformation doesn’t happen through death, but through understanding spiritual reality, which is something we can do now.

Jesus saved people from disease and death while on earth. He helped them learn more about their immortal being and how to experience better health now. He conquered beliefs of aging and expected his followers to do the same.

Christian Science continues this ministry, teaching people to identify with their immortal selfhood, and not to blindly march down a path of deterioration and decay.

Identify with your ageless being! See yourself as immortal every day. Let Truth guide your thought, and not aggressive beliefs about aging. You’ll stay healthier and stronger.

“Life is eternal. We should find this out, and begin the demonstration thereof. Life and goodness are immortal. Let us then shape our views of existence into loveliness, freshness, and continuity, rather than into age and blight” Science and Health, p. 246.

  1. This is great Evan, thank you 🙂
It reminds me also of when we were young and running late for anything, our mum would always say “Don’t worry, we live in eternity not time!” and so I have always felt that idea of being in an endless circle of Life…no beginning no ending….just continuity.
Thankyou for your always insightful blogs.

  2. I am so grateful for this reminder of agelessness, Evan. Yes, indeed, we should “shape our views of existence into loveliness, freshness, and continuity, rather than into age and blight.”

None of my family members stayed with Christian Science, I regret to say, and they are constantly telling me what I should or should not do “at your age”. It is kindly meant, but their concern would try to limit my activities. Mrs Eddy also refers to “immortality, exempt from age or decay, has a glory of its own – the radiance of Soul”, and says that “Each succeeding year unfolds wisdom, beauty, and holiness.” SH 247 & 246.

  3. Thank you Evan! Always your blog is just the ticket.

Thank you Diane, reminded me, if concerned about running late to school with the boys, we would remind ourselves we were in good time or God’s time ♡

  4. Lovely! Yes, someone once said that it’s impossible to grow old.
If something is growing, it’s growing NEW! New sprouts of goodness; “Loveliness, freshness, continuity. . .” growing, or rather, unfolding new strength, insight, authority, usefulness, effectiveness, cheer.

Aging is just a belief in shrinking, a shrinking of these God-given qualities, which is absurd.
Even in nature the eldest trees unfold new leaves and new seeds each spring and more of them, strengthen each limb, reach higher, give more shelter to critters, more shade to the weary.

Some illnesses are simply lies that years of growing can kill you, but Life is entirely spiritual, entirely good, unfolding infinite goodness, untouched and uninvaded by matter, by any false belief or believer in the growth of evil. We can’t die out of matter or because of matter for we never lived in matter. Any such belief shrinks and shrivels, a worthless fear-shadow destroyed by the light of the allness of Spirit, the power of Truth, the all-living of Love. SOOO grateful for Christ Jesus and Mary Baker Eddy’s work which reveals this.

    1. diane w.a.,
This brought to mind a quote from Cynthia Occelli, “For a seed to achieve its greatest expression, it must come completely undone. The shell cracks, its insides come out and everything changes. To someone who doesn’t understand growth, it would look like complete destruction.”

    2. Thank you Diane, for your very uplifting comment.

I do need this comment from Diane as well as Evan`s refreshing, yes and awakening SpiritView. I love that clear

Thank you Diane for your very helpful and inspiring and lovely comment.
Your explanation that it is impossible “to grow old” because if something that is growing brings up new fresh fruits and blossoms or whatever, is so so l9ogical,, thank you!

I am so grateful for Evan`s SpiritView, because it is awakening us from sleepy thinking we might be too old for that or that action.
I specially love the words in the last paragraph “Let Truth guide your thought”, for Truth is God, and he is the only one who guides us aright. And the request of MBE on page 246 in SH “Life is eternal. We should find this out, and begin the demonstration thereof”, gives us a lot of work, of studying and prayer and demonstration. And I say to me, as I need this awakening, too: ok, let`s get on with it!
Am grateful for Christian Science, as it shows us God`s great love for his whole creation including the highest creation, Man!

  5. Thanks Evan for the lovely inspiration. We so need it and its wonderful to know the fact that since we are spiritual and eternal the beliefs of time, aging, deteriorating do not touch our consciousness. If these beliefs are not entertained in our consciousness then we remain untouched by them and enjoy good health, enthusiasm, strength even in the so called old age.

My dad at the age of 85 did ride a bicycle and was active till the age of 94. He was not a student of Christian Science, though he practiced it in his daily life.

Thanks Diane for the lovely sharing “But Life is entirely spiritual, entirely good, unfolding infinite goodness, untouched and un invaded by matter” Lovely thought, beautiful.
Also what your mom shared is very helpful …”We do not live in the limitations of time but in eternity.” so so good.

  6. Timeless truths, thanks to all.
Popular science, nature, points to an “expanding universe”, never ending. Are we not part of it?

  7. Diane w.a. your comments were simply wonderful! Clear as a bell! Thank you! Copied them and they are now in my spiritual ideas file for keeping. The idea of growing NEW each day is awesome!

  8. Great thoughts to live by again, Evan and everyone! Thank you. I just wanted to share,… one of the comments from yesterday helped with healing thought when my dog slipped on the ice yesterday racing up the steps.
The visual was quite frightening, but I remembered reading we are ‘unbreakable with God’. I just Knew she would be/indeed Was alright, gave her lots of love and after she rested for a short while, she got up and acted as if nothing had ever happened. I am so grateful for this proof that we all are, in God’s perfection, always.

    1. PS. I meant to say “unbreakable ~ bond ~ with God”, although unbreakable with God sort of fit, too, under the circumstance that seemed to be apparent. ; )

  9. Awesome, Evan! This is so important for those of us who are (age) 2, 15, 30, 60 and Beyond it doesn’t matter the number we are Gods ageless Spiritual Beings. Have a very blessed Friday!

  10. Thank you Evan. So important to realize “The Apostle Paul wrote, “…our dying bodies must be transformed into bodies that will never die; our mortal bodies must be transformed into immortal bodies” I Cor. 15:53, NLT. This transformation doesn’t happen through death, but through understanding spiritual reality, which is something we can do now.” And, understanding this helps us conquer beliefs about aging too.
The death and rebirth or renewing of our minds is different than the perceived material death and can happen right now when we understand Truth.
My grandmother passed on last year. I knew it had happened when I woke up that morning because of a profound sense of peace I felt. She was amazing and I am so grateful to have had her in my life. Her ability to love, her humility, her amazing strength and her apple pies.

  11. And I will be pruning my roses today, realizing that with each cut comes the promise of renewal, new channels for the new growth to express itself yet again with its beauty so infinitely individual.

  12. Thanks, Evan, this is just what I needed this morning. Tomorrow I will be embarking on a 15 day cruise with my daughter through the Panama Canal which includes 5 excursions requiring physical stamina. My daughter and I are both widows and retired. My motive is to be an active companion to her. I’ve been praying with the statement in Science and Health that right motives give pinions to thought and strength and freedom to speech and action. This may not be an accurate quote, but the spiritual intent is there.

I greatly appreciate all of the comments today. Age has no limitations. It’s only our false beliefs that can be limiting. Knowing the Truth frees us from the effects of any false beliefs. How deeply grateful I am for Christian Science!

  13. Though we all know we are young for ever, still I knew you would cherish every word in this message.

    xx Carm

  14. B’day’s weren’t invented by those who believe this illuminating message today from Evan.
    Take heed! Thank you, Evan

  15. There have been some very careful thoughts about material aging. Right, it doesn’t exist.
There seems to be many senior medical facilities handled by so called senior care. They continue to test one’s intellectual being, noting a particular knowledge and trying to keep in tow and suggest their exams challenge the individual and seeming to want to down grade their abilities . I have experienced a few and it seems that they want to down grade your profile expressing their facts that aging needs attention. I try to stay on top when I take these exams.

My material thoughts want to ensure that I am well ahead of their tactics. I seem to always want to know that i am acknowledging I am not an old goat with lack of knowledge. I know I should not engage in this behavior to keep up with Johannes.?

  16. Every message shared today is uplifting, and how inspiring to read your message, dear Evan. Thank you!, Also, thank you, Joan W. Perfect to send to my darling sis, who is a gardener and also loves roses.

    Edna

  17. Thanks, Evan and all. Yes, human or mortal belief can’t change the truth, just as a mistake in mathematics doesn’t change the principle of mathematics and make the mistake true. We are ageless, period, and that’s that.

  18. Thank you Evan and all for these uplifting and inspiring messages. A favorite message of mine is from Mrs. Eddy – short and to the point: “Stand Porter at the door of thought …..”

Loved the references to new growth on old trees and roses. Applies to all evergreen and perennial plants. I have many that are just as beautiful after 20 years as they were when purchased. The blooms on the flowering plants just as beautiful as when I initially saw them.
