Finding your real home

“Pilgrim on earth, thy home is heaven; stranger, thou art the guest of God.”

~ Mary Baker Eddy

When home life is not so good, or conflict seems to tear it apart, it can help to remember that our real home is always intact. No matter what happens on earth, our spiritual home in heaven is always present for us to enter and enjoy. It’s not a physical place in a far off location, always out of reach, but a consciousness of divine Love reachable through prayer and spiritual mindedness here and now.

  1. That message is so true and uplifting, Evan. Thank you so much.
When I have claimed I live in heaven, that’s when I have found peace and peace has reigned.

  2. This is really helpful Evan, thanks. It seems to me that one of the central themes of the Bible is finding our way home, The spiritual history of humans seems to be one of exile. Adam and Eve were banished from paradise. The children of Israel were in exile in Egypt and forced into captivity in Babylon. We see this happening today all over the world. All these disasters stand for the belief of being separated from God, our true home. Jesus offered heaven as home and God as the Father who throws a banquet out of joy for the return of all his prodigal sons and daughters. Our true home, the Father’s house, is our conscious oneness with God, reality. The path to our true home is spirituality, which means going beyond the five senses and the delusion that home is “out there.” Thanks again for this wonderful reminder.

  3. Thank you all! Especially Scott- your comments are so right on, insightful, and healing for the world! The thought that came to me was “and Mother finds her home and heavenly rest ” and embraces all who feel displaced.

  4. In Psalm 91 it starts out with the confidence building, and true inspirational words that: “He who dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High (this precious and trusted mental place perceived in one’s mind) shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” Then in verse 10 it states, “There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.”

I think this is the “spiritual home” being discussed here. At least it is for me.

  5. I love Psalm 91. I begin my meditation dwelling in the secret place of the Most High and that it is where I live. I will add verse 10. thank you all

  6. Evan,
I’m so grateful that you share your thoughts and inspiration so freely. I showed this one to someone today and she asked me if I would print it for her. So I did and she took it with her. I know it will give her the blessed assurance she needs today – and ever.
