Do You Play the Role of Victim?

September 18, 2014 | 9 comments

Are you one who is frequently hurt by remarks from another person? Do you feel like circumstances around you are out of your control and inflicting harm on your well-being? Are you thinking the body is making you sick? Then you are playing the role of a victim. And it’s not fun!

There’s a better way to live and think.

God gave you dominion over the earth and the experiences you have on it. You are filled with spiritual power from Christ to respond with love and wisdom to other people’s callous remarks and neutralize them. You have the capacity to change circumstances around you by improving the mental atmosphere you circulate in with a deeper understanding of truth. You have control over the body through right spiritual thinking. You don’t have to play the role of victim. You can be a master of circumstances.

The Bible records that when Jesus called his disciples together, he “…gave them authority to cast out evil spirits and to heal every kind of disease and illness” Matthew 10:1, NLT. If you see yourself “called to Christ,” you too can claim this power to cast out the appearances of evil in your life and exercise dominion over the body to keep it healthy.

You are never weak. You are never helpless. There is always something positive and healing you can do to improve your condition. You do not need to play the role of victim ever again!

  1. This is so beautifully and clearly stated! Thank you Evan for taking this powerful message of Christ healing into all the “towns and cities”…. via the internet! 🙂

  2. Remember as a child; “STICKS AND STONES CAN BREAK MY BONES, BUT NAMES CAN NEVER HURT ME.” The understanding of this is parallel to this blog.

  3. WOW!!, just before opening this blog, I was feeling hurt, agitated, etc. of an unkind
remark that was made to me yesterday. I so desperately wanted to feel the good
toward this individual, but was still stinging from the remark. This blog sure met
my needs for today and hopefully if this happens again I can refer to your blog Evan.
Thank you so much for “always” meeting our needs with your wonderful blogs.

  4. This topic also pertains to yesterday’s on forgiveness, because I saw myself as a victim of a man who cheated me out of thousands of dollars.

I, too, was healed immediately after five years of struggling to forgive him and myself. I suddenly saw that I was never harmed. The feeling of release is so incredible. Thank you, dear Evan, for dedicating your time to writing SpiritView.

  5. Thanks for a fresh look at an old serpent trick. Your title awakened me on how deal with a delicate matter involving some friends. I referred back to association notes notes taken 15 years ago. Across the top i had written “stay unmemorized by person, lace or thing!” Thanks again for your faithful WATCH.

  6. This blog along with the comments led me to reread Mrs. Eddy’s article entitled”Taking Offense” in Miscellaneous Writings (pp. 223-224). I have often thought of where she tells us to be “determined not to be offended when no wrong is meant, nor even when it is, unless the offense be against God.” p. 224, lines 25 – 27. Another article that resonates with today’s blog is “Love Your Enemies” (Miscellaneous Writings , pp. 8 – 13). I am so very grateful for Mary Baker Eddy.
