Withhold the judgment

Withhold the judgment

Whenever I’m tempted to criticize my neighbor, I find this Bible verse very helpful to check the human ego.

“Therefore you have no excuse, whoever you are, when you judge others; for in passing judgment on another you condemn yourself, because you, the judge, are doing the very same things” Romans 2:1, NRSV.

The mind that is negative finds negativity in others. The mind that is full of love finds reasons to love another.

Which mind have you chosen to wear today?

Evan, so simple yet so powerfully true. Little judgmental thoughts like to creep in. Thank you for this reminder not to be negative about any little thing. Love is what matters in all we see.

Thanks, Evan! Ya know, Christian Scientists (and perhaps most Christians) are taught well and practice well the “don’t judge your neighbor” commandment. And yet, I find myself struggling with how to be discerning and know when someone isn’t a safe person to be around, i.e. they are lying or have misguided intentions. Being raised in C.S., I have had to work hard NOT to just see the Good in everyone, but to see the Truth about what they are demonstrating, and not just focus on the potential (or God’s child) I see in them. I have learned that there is denial and there is Denial. Human denial is not good and can lead one astray. Metaphysical Denial can lead to Healing. Any ideas or tips from You or Anyone out there? Thanks!

We live in a mass world of hatred. So it is with the material view which causes so much confusion and destruction. What a tremendous waste of man’s, our mental abilities whe it is so easy to find God’s reflection in all his creation of the living and expunge all this hate and miasma.
