Evan, thank you so much for this arresting quote from Thoreau. And thank you, Martine, for this excellent article so full of spiritual facts. I will read it and share it many times!
Yes simple but application of Truth matters. How many times in an hour even we see spiritual perspective or material point view. Totally refusing to consider even for a moment a material scene or point view is really demanding.
Especially interesting as tonight there was a TV show on how very obese people see themselves and how others see them. Then how others reactions to those people , makes THEM feel. They did some interesting hidden camera situations and thank heavens SOME people were not judgemental. When people have anorexia THEY see fatness but everyone else sees gaunt skinniness… and it’s all judgement and our accepting human so-called ideals. As CS ists, we have to be on our spiritual toes to see God’s perfect body-less ideas… or maybe sPIRITUAL BODIES..which cannot be anything but in balance, in every way.
:”Jesus of Nazareth was the most scientific man that ever trod the globe. He plunged beneath the material surface of things, and found the spiritual cause.”
(Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy, p. 313:23–26)
We are taught by Jesus to use our spiritual senses and not to accept the material view as
real or as causation. As he used his spiritual senses, seeing the perfect man when the material false senses only saw a sick person, He was able to see through the illusion, and bring to light the
real man based on his understanding of the spiritual law. He told us that we could do this too, and bring healing.
Lovely illustration and resulting comments. A Practitioner used this duck or rabbit illustration during a morning Prac Talk at CedarS Camps a couple of summers ago, and I have never forgotten it. Also, repeated it for my Sunday School class at the time. WHAT DO WE SEE?
Excellent, just superb, then….how do we respond to what we see? With LOVE?, genuine caring, down on our knees with humble reaching out with compassion for those we wish to heal? A helping hand? A hand out, to LIFT UP? Walking along side, and leaning in to lift UP?
I first saw a sideways rabbit and thought this is wrong??? then the bird became evident in its right place and position. .Very interesting, and .good illustration.
Thanks Evan and great article Martine. Love it.
If we think we are looking at a material world and accept it as reality, it can seem pretty bleak and unstable. But “thou art of purer eyes than to see evil and cannot look on iniquity” (Habakkuk 1:13). We are designed, as God’s children, to see only good and not be tricked by illusions.
An awesome Spirit View! Thanks Evan. Great comments and an excellent article Martine, thank you. I saw the bird, and for awhile could see nothing but the bird, and not the bunny. Reminded me of how easy it is to get stuck and fixated on what we see (sense testimony). Then, AHA! a shift to look in a totally different direction that gives a new perspective (spiritual sense).
I also see a wolf snarling. It won’t stay in focus for long; then I cannot see it for awhile. I begin to doubt I ever saw it. The bird and rabbit are quite some thing!
What do you see— beautiful reality or haggard mortality?

Thank you Martine.
Excellent article ❣️
What God sees is what we must see also. It’s so simple, yet so much work. GLORIOUS WORK !!!
So simple yet so vital to understand. Thank you Evan. Martine, so appreciate the article you shared which further illustrates the message Evan sent.

Thanks for wonderful idea that we are bodyless spiritual idea. The recipe for beauty is less illusion of fat and more of Soul.
Bunny or bird? Excellent choice of illustration! Thanks Martine.
