You are not in email. I had to Google.
The site has the same picture you used.
I also need to check the author.
One night I dreamed a dream.
As I was walking along the beach with my Lord.
Across the dark sky flashed scenes from my life.
For each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand,
One belonging to me and one to my Lord.
After the last scene of my life flashed before me,
I looked back at the footprints in the sand.
I noticed that at many times along the path of my life,
especially at the very lowest and saddest times,
there was only one set of footprints.
This really troubled me, so I asked the Lord about it.
“Lord, you said once I decided to follow you,
You’d walk with me all the way.
But I noticed that during the saddest and most troublesome times of my life,
there was only one set of footprints.
I don’t understand why, when I needed You the most, You would leave me.”
He whispered, “My precious child, I love you and will never leave you
Never, ever, during your trials and testings.
When you saw only one set of footprints,
It was then that I carried you.”
Thank you M, this poem always makes me cry, it is so touching.
More on walking with God:
“I walk with love along the way and O it is a holy day, no more I suffer cruel fear, I feel I feel God’s presence with me here; The joy that none can take away is mine, I walk with Love today.” -Hymn 139
“Cause me to know the way where I should place my feet, to walk in the pathway of Your love.” -Hymn 457
When I was a teen and going out and doing more things on my own, my mother would sometimes say that God was walking by my side. We were not Christian Scientists, not much religious observance of any kind and I didn’t pay much mind to what she said. But now, so many years later, it is very precious to me. She had a simple faith and I think she was affirming that God was with me when she could’t be there to protect me.
Thanks for finding this article, Angie. I have been working with “Ego” and Naaman’s story really makes the point of how self-importance works and how it can affect your health and how putting ego aside and listening to God’s direction brings immediate healing.
To quote from Science and Health, Footsteps of Truth page 224, “As the crude footprints of the past disappear from the dissolving paths of the present, we shall better understand the Science which governs these changes, and shall plant our feet on firmer ground”……. “There should be painless progress, attended by life and peace instead of discord and death.”
And on page 239, “To ascertain our progress, we must learn where our affections are placed and whom we acknowledge and obey as God. If divine Love is becoming nearer, dearer, and more real to us, matter is then submitting to Spirit.”
Evan, your posted photo replicates the awesome beauty and serenity of my daily walks on the breathtaking beaches of Santa Barbara. Indeed a glimpse into God’s kingdom of heaven here and now. Thank you for searching out these beautiful pictures that bring inspiration to us all.
This is something I have saved, but without its attribution– perhaps someone knows the author:
MY PLAN?
I simply told God this had to be done.
I’d thought it all through, and it looked like fun.
The logic was clear, and could not be faulted.
My plan was now fixed. The door had been bolted.
But something was tickling the back of my mind
and if I kept thinking I knew what I’d find –
The voice of such wisdom that simply knows All,
Quietly saying “You have only to call”.
I put down my plan I had carefully written,
The arrogant certainty thoroughly smitten.
I stretched out my hand to ask of the Lord:
It gave me a feeling of peace and accord.
The struggle within me to carry on still
Was steadily yielding to follow “Thy will”.
The promise came clearly: “When you do as I say¬,
My sure Mind will guide you each step of the way.”
Now I listen to God and do as She says:
Her unfolding Wisdom guides all there is.
I’ve learnt this good lesson: God’s image is man;
There is no my-self: just Love and Love’s plan.
Thank you, Evan, for another thought-provoking blog. It opens so many channels of thought. annie this poem is wonderful, thanks for sharing.
Ever since my childhood I have been making plans and lists on paper thinking that was the only way to get things accomplished but soon realized that following and listening to the plan of God, divine Mind, things fell in the right path and order they needed to be in. I still like to write and make an occasional list, but it takes a different form as inspiration proves divine Mind is showing me the way to walk and think.
Let’s all walk with Love.
‘They that wait upon the Lord, shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up as wings of eagles
They shall run but not be weary,
And, they shall walk but not faint.’ Isaiah 40.v31
Blessings❣️
Thank you Evan for this blissful and needed advice! Thank you M for the “footprints in the sand”. Yes I read it once too, very lovely! And I love Hymn 139 and all the inspired comments, thanks to all!♡
Walking with God is so wonderful, am working on it. God is guiding, caring , supplying His children and all His creation. Am very happy and grateful for having learnt this in CS and am still learning.
Thanks very much Evan for your healing and comforting SpiritView blog.♡
I Love the refreshi g Summer Foto up here. thanks for it!
Just had to stop typing, it was a plan for the next 3 days;
Now I’m looking for God’s plan
How to travel out of town safely, after completing the day hours filled with duties, some church related; following God’s lead all will go as HE’S planned; filled with gratitude for the guidance received and guidance of what’s to be done according to HIM, and HIS plan.
Thank GOD
So wonderful to read this when I woke up – just like God is speaking to me at a time when I am about to sell my home of many years and business ! All is going so well but the next step ( God’s step ) is not yet clear . I have been thinking so much about ‘ obedience’ ( wonderful citations in the lesson this week ) – the sharing on this site is like having a large extended family having a family ‘ confab ‘ so much love to all , and gratitude , dear Evan , to you —-
the path is life experience, the footprints are learnings, Heaven is spiritual understanding, spring mud is the material view, first is Christ Jesus’s example. A bit too cryptic, I suppose, but I thought if anyone looked back upon this statement they might find some value.

M,
That is exactly what I thought of when I saw the picture.

“I walk with Love (God) along the way..”. Hymn 139! Such a great hymn to sing as we walk thru our day and being led by God.
