A new take on GPS

April 8, 2025 | 20 comments

In common parlance, GPS stands for Global Positioning System.  We use it in our cars, on our phones, hiking in the wilderness, sailing at sea, and a myriad of other ways.

Most of us would agree, “I like what GPS can do for me!”

One day, while seeking out directions on a mapping app, I thought, “Getting to this place is important, but it’s even more important to stay centered with God during this trip.

“Watch and pray for spiritual truth along the way,” I reminded myself.

And a new acronym for me was born, God Positioning System.

Watch and pray!  It’s a plan that gets you to the best place possible every time.

  1. Great reminder, Evan. Anyone who has driven through a long tunnel will know that the GPS typically informs the user, “GPS signal lost”, yet our Life, Truth & Love guidance is still available and fully usable.

  2. When my GPS says: “Acquiring satellites” I can now think: “Aquiring Angel Messages”. ☺️

    1. Just the way that is put, GOD gives us the ANGEL messages we need, going direct to HIS LOVE, would be effective. Just the way our prayers are answered with TRUTH, LIFE, LOVE. all in clear messages, no smuges allowed,, directed to our thought, with plenty of transparency as well as immediate access to the TRUTH, clear direction for us to receive an answer from the DIVINE SOURCE.

  3. A long time ago I heard someone say that one way of listening for GOD was to receive Good. Orderly Direction.

  4. My wife and I called GPS, God’s Personal Shepherd. Throughout the years, that has served us well!

  5. Thank you for this Evan and All. Being centered with God as our guide is an infallible
way of always being in our right place. I have heard of times where GPS has been
incorrect, but God is always correct … guarding, guiding and sending us spiritually
into Mind’s ever-present and perfect control.

  6. Good to see so many comments this morning, Thanks to all. I was unable to sign on yesterday, neither could a friend of mine. I tried multiple times during the day.

    1. Yes Laurel, I also was not able to sign on yesterday after many tries on different devices. The message kept saying, ‘Error connecting to the data network.’ But I knew that error could not keep me from hearing whatever truth I needed to hear. I decided to listen to the Daily Lifts and the Bible Lesson. And now today the connection is fine, and went back and enjoyed reading yesterday’s wonderful message and comments, so good.

And thanks David C for “GOD- Good Orderly Direction,” haven’t heard that one in a long time. I think they use that as one of the slogans in the 12 step recovery programs, which are very spiritually based.

  7. I once was on a trip, years ago, before GPS, where on the map, it showed a
turn off to where I wanted to go, but when I got there, the turn off was not
visible, causing me to end up in a different state, entirely. (A state of total
confusion and angst, I might add). Having to turn to God for directions, I was
thankfully able to navigate through heavy traffic, lane-only prompts and
guided to ask someone there, who knew, as the turn off it turned out to be,
unmarked, but was Known to God’s guidance, of course. Material maps, GPS
can sometimes be deceiving, but True direction is always divinely given to us
which we can turn to with our whole heart to this all knowing Principle, wherever
    we happen to be.

  8. Thank you Evan, for that lovely and helpful translation of GPS into the metaphysical realm

    “God Positioning System”

which leads us always to healing positions of Truth! Thank you all, so wonderful! ❤️
