The world appears to be filled with material things and forms that need to be managed, cared for and inventoried. But there is so much more to life than material things. There is the Spirit of God that makes life a joy to live.
A house is not a home without love. A job is not fun without a feeling of worth and value. The body can feel heavy and burdensome without joy and delight in one’s soul.
It’s the Spirit of God that brings real happiness, health, purpose and joy to life.
Mary Baker Eddy writes, “Mortals must look beyond fading, finite forms, if they would gain the true sense of things” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 264).
To experience the best life has to offer, don’t get hung up on material things or form. See past them, to the spiritual idea yearning to be understood and demonstrated.
When your life is singing and soaring with the Holy Spirit, you’ll have a true sense of things that bring real happiness. And it will be the spiritual things that matter most, not the material.
Amen to that Evan …and love the picture…all hope and beauty.

Happy weekend all❣️
Thank you Evan, and thank you Barbara for the
wonderful article..
I find the wartime testimonies
really helpful – they show that in such dire circumstances, God really IS with us, and that
we can trust absolutely in His all-power to protect us. It shows how much in every challenge to our well-being, large or small, we can totally lean on God’s ever-present operative Law of Love to free us from these challenges., and lift our thoughts above them to Holy places.
It is wonderful to know that the true sense of being is beautiful and ever unfolding its perfect ideas for us to enjoy and rejoice in.
“Father, we Thy loving children, lif our hearts in joy today……..” (Hymn 58)

so inspiring and lovely. Spirit/God gives us such a beautiful perspective
on ourselves and Life and like in the awesome photo above, this Love

guiding us with the Principle of our Mind and expressing the Soul of
loveliness and harmony and peace.

I agree with looking beyond “material” things as one’s life should not be dictated or ruled by materialims. One should never be a “slave” to material things or materialism. However, there should be a distinguish between “Ikea material things of mass production” and “18th century American furniture things of skilled craftsmanship”… not for functionality but for inherent beauty. While not giving material things the dictates and definitions of who we are, one must appreciate craftsmanship, color, form, matierals, etc. as a “complex idea” of creative energy only found in and to emante from Soul. (This specifically relates to any handmade object, I imagine). We all need beauty in our lives, and to live with beautiful things. Recognizing beauty, as a sub-synomym of Soul, we can place and appreciate material things with proper perspective. To live among beautiful things or objects enhances our lives. If a piece of furniture is crafted with the artistry and precision of love, and it is admired for those qualities, does not one delight in the created form as well as the artist or craftsman who created it. Do we not appreciate craftsmanship? In a similar manner, do we not delight in the sublime of a Thomas Cole painting or Mozart’s “Ave Maria”? Gratitude should abound for such beauty knowing one’s God given talents created something others can appreciate.
I do understand what Evan is writing about, and one’s life should not be ruled by “fading finite forms”.of materiality. Let us, however, find beauty in craftsmanship, artistry, skill, etc. These too, are expressions of God’s allness….Mind being the source of all…. not only the fig on the vine as an expression of God’s creation, but also the handblown glass vase of a master glassblower.
This line stood out from Evan’s message, “See past them (material things, matter) to the spiritual idea yearning to be understood and demonstrated.” It’s refreshing to think that the spiritual idea (which I interpret to be divine Mind, God) is yearning to be understood and demonstrated. God desiring to be expressed through us, His very loved children. And nothing can interfere with that!
It is most appreciated all teachings and sharing of
God’s infinite Love and Wisdom to help us have
More clarity with God’s truth to help more people..
