There are metaphysical steps you can take to protect yourself from colds and related illnesses this time of year.
Mary Baker Eddy writes, “Colds, coughs, and contagion are engendered solely by human theories” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 220).
When circulating in public, I like to remind myself that I am not governed by human theories circulating in public consciousness about catching colds. Those human theories include beliefs about germs and viruses entering the body and causing physical havoc.
But as metaphysics reveals, physical germs have no more effect than belief allows them to have. To stay healthy, those beliefs can be neutralized with spiritual truth and rendered harmless. And that’s where prayer comes in!
Stay alert to your spiritual reality with God. Know that you are not governed and controlled by mindless germs. See yourself as circulating in an atmosphere of Love divine where there is only the healthy influence of spiritual truth to feel and know with every breath you take and every thought you think.
Entertain no fear of germs. Know God’s power and presence instead.
Negate suggestions of illness with your understanding of spiritual truth. Stay healthy!

need have no fear of the common beliefs of
contagion.
We have in this week’s Lesson the story of a leper
approaching Jesus and imploring him to make him clean. Leprosy was considered to be very contagious, and people kept their distance from lepers, fearing they would catch it also – so the lepers were ostracised.
But Jesus knew that this was not a part of God’s beloved child, as Jesus knew him to be, and touched
him fearlessly – touched him with divine Love’s
remedy – and he was immediately restored, unblemished by this evil belief.
Christ Jesus proved throughout his ministry, that there was no possible cause for any kind of disease – considered contagious or otherwise – because he knew the life of man to be the very expression of God’s being, and therefore was forever exempt from the illusions of the false material senses. Love is the perfect remedy that casts out the fear of contagion,
and melts the belief away out of our consciousness.
Thanks Maggie. You made a statement in your comment that our life is the very expression of God’s Being. I heard this in a Daily Lift last week (Oct. 22) titled, Beyond Use it or Lose it. The quote is from S&H p. 470, “Man is the expression of God’s Being.”
I was so struck when I heard that line and have been pondering it ever since. It is so vast and truth-filled that it lifts up my thought to entertain that I am not just the expression of God (which I hear often), but it seems to go deeper to think I am the actual expression of God’s BEING. I noticed that when I say it, error/mortal mind goes completely silent, it can’t say a thing because the statement is so powerful. At least that was my experience of it.

Thank you EVAN for announcing the protection from bringing up the old news about theories of contagion from COVID, which went unanswered in the past. I am grateful again for hearing Evan’s spelling out the TRUTH, where we are all suspended in an atmosphere of Divine LOVE. That’s where I dwell.
I am puzzled though as to why you write the name of a claim of disease in capital letters, this giving it importance and reality?
Thank you Evan for this post. There is a growing movement outside of Christian Science that is recognising ‘contagion’ as utter fraud.
The reality is, germ theory remains an unproven and indeed completely debunked theory. Neither germs nor viruses have ever been proven to exist, and have never been proven to cause sickness.
What we would seem to be dealing with in this material world is nothing but lies and false beliefs, exactly as Mrs Eddy told us.
Learning this has helped me enormously in my journey in my CS journey as well as in my worldly walkings. I recommend listening to the very brave Dr Sam Bailey and her peers to learn just how much the world is being fooled daily.
