Do you ever feel overwhelmed by what other people are thinking and talking about around you? Does it feel hard to think for yourself?
I share a way to break out of those mental influences and think for yourself in this vlog filmed in the Saguaro National Park, in Arizona, April 2025.
Thank you; this is a very helpful stand with the flood of medical advertising swirling around us these days.
And gratefully it reminded me of J B Phillips translation Romans 12:2
“Don’t let the world around you squeeze you into its own mould, but let God remake you so that your whole attitude of mind is changed. Thus you will prove in practice that the will of God’s good, acceptable to him and perfect.”
Thank you for sharing this citation from Phillip’s translation of the New Testament. It’s very useful for me. Thank you Evan for your support and guidance.
most excellent .thank you .good start for the day.
I love the thought of One God, One Mind being what enables us to think for ourselves. Thank you for talking to us this morning and giving us such strengthening fuel for the day.
Mary Lou , I also found Evan’s statement that it is
:One God, One Mind that enables us to think for ourselves helpful.
Some while ago I read that a reflection cannot think for itself – and that made sense, but it has puzzled me. I now see that as the reflection of God, we think as God thinks, and that is thinking for our true selves. So when we come across something
that seems unlike God and His goodness, we start
to reason, and the truth comes to us – what God
is sending to enlighten us.
Thank you Evan for helping to clear this up.
I wondered the same thing Maggie. But I think you’re right that we can think as our true spiritual Self, with thoughts only coming direct from God, not as a so called separate self that seems to be changing, unstable and full of wrong information and ideas.
It’s been suggested to me that I might be what world thought calls an empath, which seems to mean being overly sensitive to and picking up the feelings of others, either people around me or the more worldly collective angst. It seemed true because I sometimes feel negative emotions that have no apparent basis in anything going on in my own life.
But as a child of God I can know that is a big lie, and very unfair to think I can be hurt because of being sensitive or empathetic. God does not cause that for me. If I am sensitive or receptive to anything, it would to have to be sensitive to what God is, knows, does, and the joy that comes along with that, not to anything negative that drags me down.
I can also understand that all that so-called negativity of others is also a lie and not their true selves. Like me, they also cannot feel anything but the presence of divine love and, like me, not subject to world beliefs and wrong ideas. It has to be all inclusive, not just for me to be free, but for everyone. God loves and cares for all His children. Then I won’t fear other’s negativity because I won’t see it as a real part of them. Impersonalize evil and treat the evil beliefs with Truth.
Rose, thank you! I especially love your last paragraph. Others’ negativity is never a part of them. Yes!
Thank you Kelley for your kind and supportive comment. Blessings to you!
“A reflection cannot think for itself”….that statement gave me an Ah-ha! moment! I never thought of it in that way! Thank you, Maggie!
I love the thought of One God, One Mind being what enables us to think for ourselves. Thank you for talking to us this morning and giving us such strengthening fuel for the day.
I love the way you expressed this healing message, and it’s up to each of us “individual rays (of Light) to (as steadily as possible) reflect our Light inward and outward. Thank you, Evan, for reminding us to be consciously thinking with God, and not the wind swirling around us.

Thank you so much Evan and Everyone for such much needed
God-thoughts today! In a world that sometimes seems anything but,
these True spiritual thoughts of peace, harmony and Love shine into
our hearts and lives to counteract what Seems to be happening
around us. Like with the cactus in your beautiful setting, we can
see either the thorns … or the beauty in our own environments.
I got excited to see another vlog from Tucson! They seem to speak to me so clearly. I thought, why? Because I used to live there and love it? Then I thought of Moses finding water for the Israelites in the desert. From what seems dry and barren, God can bring forth a wellspring of inspiration, as shown in this spiritually fertile trip. The desert shall blossom as the rose.
Wow, thank you, dear Evan for your healing and comforting spiritual views you give us in your Vlog today with such a freshness and love – that does so very good!
And wow, I feel such inspirations and love coming from the comments here from all of you dear SV friends! Thank you a l l! And specially the two articles from you, dear J, are verey helpfull. Larissa:s articles you can listen to. But the author, Richard Schaberg, says in his article in the CS Journal from July 2012 at the end: “The divine Mind, the Mind of each one of us, is telling us now of our infinite abilities and possibilities. To the degree that we yield to this Mind, we are thinking for ourselves.”
That is so wonderfully clearly and inspiring said, that it gives me a lot comfort and trust in God, our divine Mind, what this week’s lesson demands on us – so good!
