Identify yourself right

How do you identify yourself each day?

Do you see a mortal with endless problems to solve?  Or do you see an immortal reflecting a gloriously good God?

If we see ourselves as a mortal plagued with problems, that’s what we’re going to live out.  Human life is an experience of the human mind and its expectations.

However, if we are enlightened by spiritual truth, and see ourselves the way God made us, as spiritual beings living our eternal spiritual life with God, everything gets better.  Instead of feeling like a mortal bumbling along with endless woes, we see ourselves as intricately intertwined with God’s goodness in everything we do.  Thought rests in God’s goodness, is aware of Love’s presence, reasons out from perfection, and has a much happier and healthier experience.

Mary Baker Eddy writes, “Identity is the reflection of Spirit, the reflection in multifarious forms of the living Principle, Love” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 477).  The identity of Spirit is not formed and shaped by a depressed mortal mind.  It’s not mortal or material.  It’s spiritual.  It’s spiritual mindedness, gratitude, wisdom, forgiveness, compassion, love, goodwill, and their kin.

As we identify ourselves the way God made us, as immortal expressions of truth and love, we see a good person, inspiration comes quicker, and life is happier.

Get started on the right mental foot today.  Identify yourself aright.  Not as a mortal, but as an immortal.  And enjoy the benefits!

  1. Thank you, Evan. Our identity cannot be less than what God has created. All erroneous thinking is insufficient to realize the the Truth of God’s creating.

  2. Perfect Creator, perfect creation is all that exists, everything else seeming to be is just white noise ready to be turned off at any time.

Thank you Evan for the thought of ever lasting Perfection right now and every moment is certainly a blessing from Father.

    1. Hi Linda, I liked your statement that anything seemingly different from God’s goodness and perfection reflecting through us is, “white noise ready to be turned off at any time.”

It’s like the remote control we use to silence erroneous material messages on TV. It doesn’t have to be hard, as error would tell us it is. Click and off. This places the dominion in our hands, where God put it, to turn fully to him at any time and HUMBLY recognize our always-true perfection and joy.

Love to all as we start a fresh new week together, praying to know the truth of these statements and see them manifest for all of us.

  3. Thank you Evan, brings to thought one of my all time favourite citations from Science and Health. I often dwell on these words and have shared them with friends. So comforting and illuminating.
    (please pardon the pun . . .)

    S&H: 280
From Love and from the light and harmony which are the abode of Spirit, only reflections of good can come.

    1. Thank you very very much, dear. J for this article by Don Adams. it’s so helpful, yes and needed for understanding God and our oneness with our Father-Mother Love much better!♡

  4. Thank you very much, dear Evan, for your loving advice, to identify ourselves right. ♡
During the day while I read our lesson sermon for this week I came to 6th section , and the forelast passage gave a clarification about my real identity.
Here is the passage from SH p. 280: 25-30
“Rightly understood, instead of possessing a sentient material form, man has a sensationless body; and God, the Soul of man and of all existence , being perpetual in His own individuality, harmony and immortality, imparts and perpetuates these qualities in man, – through Mind, not matter.”
Here Mrs. Eddy explaines, that God imparts and gives us our real spiritual individuality which we steadily express.
Such a comforting Truth – thank you dear God! ♡
