Trust God to act at the best time

If you’re ever in a hurry to make something happen, and resorting to human will to force a conclusion, perhaps a little more patience is needed.

The Psalmist reminds us, “Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to act” (Psalm 37:7, NLT).

God always knows best, and His timing is perfect.

  1. Thank you Evan – that timing was perfect for me this morning – waiting for a conclusion to be revealed . So good to acknowledge God’s total control over all

  2. My mom loved saying “God’s perfect plan includes God’s perfect timing.” I’ve always checked that saying as a check on planning that can include a lot of human will..Thank God for the alternative..

  3. Beautiful admonition and prayer, Evan. Thank you. With the fast pace of social media, etc., it seems easy to feel impatient and want to speed things up. Often, when I find myself doing that, I’m just slowing the process and hiding the inspiration that tells us that God is the ONLY governor of the universe.

  4. So-called human will and human outlining of how we think things are and how we think they SHOULD be, and WHEN, are the cause of many worries and a formula for misery. When I Let Go and Let God and trust Him, I can be so much freer and know that All Is Well.

Mrs. Eddy says in Misc Writings (p.307), that when we trust, wait on God, never doubting, we will have all we need – every moment. Wow.

    1. Your comment today directs my thought upward, where I can experience TRUST, so HE will bring along ALL that WE NEED, your clear comment was received with an open heart for just the right commitment. Waiting on GOD means the world to me right now. Thank YOU ROSE

  5. Made me think of this paragraph from God’s Law of Adjustment by Adam Dickey:

When we in our helplessness reach the point where we see we are unable of ourselves to do anything, and then call upon God to aid us; when we are ready to show our willingness to abandon our own plans, our own opinions, our own sense of what ought to be done under the circumstances, and have no fear as to the consequences,—then God’s law will take possession of and govern the whole situation. We cannot expect, however, that this law will operate if we indulge any preconceived ideas as to how it should do its work. We must completely abandon our own view of things and say, “Not my will, but thine, be done.” If this step is taken with confidence and a full trust that God is capable of taking care of every circumstance, then no power on earth can prevent the natural, rightful, and legitimate adjustment of all discordant conditions.

    1. God’s Law of Adjustment is one of my very favorite articles. Haven’t read it in a while so thank you Robert for including this great excerpt. Will def give it a full read, it’s a powerful piece of writing. I believe it was from around 1917. Adam Dickey was Mrs. Eddy’s personal secretary. Two other excellent articles of his are Place and Possession.

  6. Boy howdy, have I seen the not-so-pleasant repercussions of NOT ‘waiting” on the Lord but prematurely deciding something was a PERFECT fit only to discover it was not heavenly at all. Then I had to pray more deeply to see and feel and know God is the ONLY Reality … the outcome of this deeper prayer was ALWAYS greater good.

    Nowadays, I don’t force anything!

Evan’s message today struck home in a big way.

  7. I immediately thought of the lovely poem cited by cj on reading Evan’s post. this morning. It is always in my thought. So helpful and has healing results. Commit to memory! Thank you so much for SpiritView Evan. It must be healing the world.

  8. I have prayed this over the years but can’t remember where I got it:

God is preparing you for what he has prepared for you.

So appreciate your mighty work, Evan.
