To a patient telling me that they felt like they were waiting around for a healing to happen, I said, “Let’s stay clear, that as a spiritual being, you are never waiting around in matter for something to happen. You are thinking in Spirit, where good things are happening!”
Thinking in Spirit eliminates waiting in matter.
I like this idea that we are never “waiting around in matter” for healing to occur at some point in the future. We learn in CS that we are never actually “in” matter, that matter is unreal to the children of a purely spiritual God, that health is the fact Now. Mrs Eddy said, “Health is not a condition of matter, but of Mind; nor can the material senses bear reliable testimony on the subject of health” (S&H, p. 120).
I was just reading the excellent article “Just Superimposed” kindly shared here the other day (Jan. 2) by DavidM. This passage relates to today’s message:
“…what we see as symptoms are just superimposed mortal beliefs and not something external to be physically removed, adjusted, or doctored in some way. They are images of mortal thought to be dismissed through the healing message of Christ—through the enlightened message that we are, right NOW, at one with God, infinite Mind, the source of all true thought. “
“Thinking is Spirit eliminates waiting in matter.”
BEAUTIFUL..
Yes,John , “thinking in Spirit eliminates waiting in matter”
Thank you Evan, I will try TODAY!
Thank you, Rose. Yep there’s only one law, and that fact dispells the belief in some trouble.
Ain’t it odd, we know there is nothing to heal, yet wait around for a healing to occur.
Thank you Evan and all. And thank you John B. Yes, we know there is nothing to heal, and yet wait for something to happen. It is odd, and a result of being mesmerized/duped by the mortal or carnal mind and a belief in dualism, of two separate powers. We don’t knowingly let ourselves get scammed, but believing in what the physical senses tell us (good or bad report) is the biggest scam of all. Through spiritual sense, in prayer, we can listen for God’s interpretation of His universe. That is the only truth there is. I read and heard this quote twice yesterday, so I know it was something I needed to pay attention to. It was late to add it to yesterday’s blog on Truth, so I’ll add it here: “If something is not true, it was never real.”
Thank you Evan for always activating my heart, as well as mind, in your daily spirit view.
The only waiter we can be is the one at the table of Love, the only waiting to be done is serving the food from Love’s kitchen of Truth to all who come to the table to be served, and the only attendees at Love’s table are our neighbours too! There are no enemies, no diseases, no conflicts, no error at the table of Love. The waiting is not for Love to do it’s work to me but for me to do the work of Love !!
Ditto that for me too, Evan. Thank you David for expressing this so clearly.
Dear David….this is a beautiful comment you’ve made here. Thank you. B.x
Love these thoughts David. Thank you so much for sharing them.
Excellent. Just what I needed today.
blessings and gratitude to all
Thank you so much Evan….. so true!
It makes me think of the distinction between a thought that I ‘’’know ‘’ something , which might be a favourite bible verse or sentence from S &H and the much more spiritual application of ‘’knowing ‘’……ie accepting the omnipresence of what is true.
“The omnipresence of what is true”
Thank you, Barbara. That means to me that truth is everywhere. That is such a help. That there is nowhere that Truth cannot be.
“Matter” gets the traffic redlight…Spirit gets the green/go light
Yes, Sheila. Thank you. I remember as a child playing a game called
Red light, Green light. Where someone would say 1,2,3 … Red light and
those in the group would stop moving forward. Then that person would
say Green Light and everyone would step forward again. That is almost like
mortal mind way of thinking – to control our movement of progress,
by stopping us in our tracks when we are trying to go ahead “spiritually”.
As I recall, the person(s) still moving when Red Light was called, would
be out of the game. Isn’t that – just like mortal thinking, that would Try to
pause us into believing, we have reason to Stop our progress in Spirit.
Another childhood game that might apply to this message, also, is
“Simon Says”. Simon Says do this or that. mortal mind says do this or
that … but who are we listening to?
Carol I remember playing those very same games. Interesting that so many years later we’d be able to see a spiritual meaning in them. In the Simon Says game, when the leader said Simon Says touch your nose or Simon Says pat your head everyone had to do it, but the leader would then try to sneak in a “Do this” without the “Simon Says” and if you did it, you were out. Simon could be seen as God and we only do what He says, but then mortal mind tries to sneak in something not from God and we have to listen very carefully to notice and only obey the instruction that is from God.
Dear Rose, your comment brought to mind this from S&H p. 283. “Mind is the source of all movement, and there is no inertia to retard or check its perpetual and harmonious action.”
Thankyou Evan, such a wonderful message and picture. this is what I needed today Spirit View always meets our needs. and Thankyou Spirit View family for all your Inspirational messages, Love to all
Yes, April, an echo to what you wrote. The photo of the
crocus in the snow, goes perfectly with Evan’s message
of eliminating waiting. When thinking in Spirit, like the
fragile flowers beneath the snow, we overcome whatever
would seem to hold us back in matter.
1 Corinthians 15:52
In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
Knowing I can change my thinking in a “twinkling of an eye” is very reassuring.

Thank you J.
A great article.
God is indivisible eternity, and we have some nerve attempting to parse and label it!! And we reap what we sow, binding ourselves to false constraints and mortally measuring “our success” by it.
Jesus does show the way, in every instance.
Wow, I do feel like I’ve been waiting around for healing, despite so much prayer but after today’s blog and yesterday’s perspective on Truth, I am feeling so much more expectant of good and have such wonderful inspirations from everyone here.
I am also uplifted by these words from this week’s Bible lesson -“We are confident to say, and rather willing, to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord”. Thank you,Evan and all contributors.
Love it, thanks Evan, so clear 🙂
Fyi…I came across a website, Christian Science in the Washington Metro Area. Noticing Evan’s podcast, “Getting Good Results from Prayer” and other wonderful podcasts and resources.

Thank you, Evan! This is such a good reminder. As students of Christian Science we often fall in the trap of waiting for the healing. We are in the kingdom of heaven NOW. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!
