Be wise about what you hear

March 4, 2026 | 6 comments

Do you ever hear voices in your mind telling you what to think, but leave you wondering if you should obey or not?  If so, it’s helpful to remember that you have God-given dominion to choose what you’re going to do.  If the voice is not helpful, you can choose to reject its instruction.

I explain how to make better choices in this vlog that was filmed in Yellowstone National Park when Kathy and I visited the area in September 2025.

  1. It can take a while to discern the voice of God from the other thoughts that arise. God’s voice is sometimes very quiet. “the still, small voice.” It can bubble up into your thinking, wait until you quiet your thoughts, or interrupt your thoughts quite loudly from behind you. Sometimes you notice it as an action, a smile from a stranger, a sweet, unexpected moment of beauty. God is Love, Truth, Life, Spirit, Principle, Soul, divine Mind, and Friend. If you ask for guidance, finding something misplaced or wondering which way to go, there will be an answer.

  2. “I will listen for thy voice lest my footsteps stray” in the hymn by Mary Baker Eddy. A wonderful guide.

  3. There’s a wonderful contemporary Christian song that was popular about 10 years ago called The Voice of Truth. I think it was by Casting Crowns although I’m not sure of that. This post brought that great song to mind so I just wanted to share in case others (more tech savvy than me) want to listen… Thanks Evan for your daily inspirations – always a blessing!

  4. A lovely voice of reason message today! Thank you Evan and Kathy. Your
vlog, with such beauty and wonder in nature, flows through thought like
the awesome flowing waters of the falls. God’s voice is always there, just
as the falls produces such power and persistence, although sometimes it
is difficult to hear with the din of mortal sense that might try to cancel it out
of our thinking, at times. I recently saw where the sunset often makes the
falls appear to be on fire. As one of the definitions in the Glossary of S&H,
Mrs. Eddy, describes – on, Fire: “affliction purifying and elevating man”. Like
the falls, ever flowing, purifies and renews with an ever-present consistency
of good, so God/Love is there for us to renew our spirit and soul with it’s
    inspiration and comfort.
