This quote struck me as incredibly relevant to the work of spiritual healing.
“When you are through changing, you are through.”
~ Bruce Barton
Christian Science makes it clear that man was created perfect, in the image of God. It also makes clear that the human mind must forsake its material beliefs to realize this ideal and demonstrate its truthfulness. And that means change. Lots of it!
If you’re striving to make spiritual progress, it might be constructive to ask, “Am I willing to change? Am I willing to drop bad habits, embrace a more enlightened point of view, live less selfishly, and put knowing God first in my life?”
Enemies to change are pride, self-righteousness, stubbornness, traditionalism, self-will, and apathy. These blind and ignorant states of thought would cling to the past and argue for no change when change is needed for improvement.
Silence human will. Be open to change that gets you to a better place. And be happy to embrace God’s help to get there.
Change is good when it gets our thought to a better place. Be willing!
Thank you Evan. Ever so helpful. The mortal mind, which is always trying to pull us away from true harmony and peace, spiritual progress and divine Love, “is enmity against God”, and therefore our enemy too. I have always found humility and gratitude a great antidote, with generous amounts of love to break out of its shackles. Thank you again for your daily blessings that lift thought to better and higher contemplation.
Yes – thank you, Evan, for this blessing SV 🙂
Recently I read about praying for willingness — and perhaps even praying for the willingness to pray about this important quality, that is linked with teachableness, which definitely leads to healing and progress. A friend of mine once said “All change is good.” Another wisely commented, “Not all change is good, but you can’t have progress without change. ” Farida is right; humility and gratitude are very important in life and healing.
What a lovely picture you have depicted for today’s inspiration… Nobody likes to leave his/her comfort zone in order to bring about a CHANGE for the better. Well if we desire to get permanent happiness, peace, harmony and bliss in our life, then the way is to be spiritual and good and change our old ways. As Evan rightly says, we need to drop bad habits, be more loving and considerate of others happiness, less selfish, learn more about our relationship with God. In other words we need to come out from our comfort zone and reform. Its not easy though, but the end result is truly worth the effort, especially when we know we are not alone but God is with us in our journey of spiritual progress.
Lets keep a LOG BOOK to monitor our daily progress, which would be truly helpful.
“Are my thoughts pure?”
” Am I including others welfare in my day to day jobs?”
” Do I understand I am capable of doing good alone, because I am the reflection of God? ” “Am I putting in efforts to beautify my inner and true self or only busy beautifying my physical personality which is insubstantial anyway in the eyes of God.”
“How many things did I do today which blessed others?”
“Did I lose my cool, was I rude?”
Maintaining a LOG Book takes effort but it helps us to know where we stand in making the required CHANGE in our life, to achieve our goal of Spiritual progress and well being.
There is this lovely Hymn on CHANGE.
Hymn No. 148
In heavenly Love abiding, No change my heart shall fear;
And safe is such confiding, For nothing changes here.
The storm may roar without me, My heart may low be laid;
But God is round about me, And can I be dismayed?
Wherever He may guide me, No want shall turn me back;
My Shepherd is beside me, And nothing can I lack.
His wisdom ever waketh, His sight is never dim;
He knows the way He taketh And I will walk with Him.
Green pastures are before me, Which yet I have not seen;
Bright skies will soon be over me, Where darkest clouds have been.
My hope I cannot measure, My path in life is free;
My Father has my treasure, And He will walk with me.
I love this hymn. Thank you.
Thanks Nergish,
I have always loved that hymn. This is another great perspective.
Thanks Evan for SV, and Farida, Marilyn for your input. All comments are so helpful. I look forward to this daily progress in thought by all SV bloggers.
In a state of Minds revealing
Witnessing God’s Love
Peace and comfort reside
So clear, the waters of Mind
So calm, the sea of Love
So abundant, the goodness
We walk in
So colorful the garden
of our hearts
We release our prays
Upon the morn
We await our retuning doves
This is a lovely poem! One question – do you release praise? Or prayer(s). ?
Thank you so much.
To be honest praise and gratitude
always feel like the descend upon me
from on High
Then radiate thru me
Lovely poem Maximo 🙂
Go to God
There is always
something wonderful
waiting for you
A rock, a stone,
a flower, a bee
Go to God
Your secret place
Your secret way
a place away from
the cares of the day
Rain or shine
Sun or storm
All cares become
only his concern
Go to Love
Be with peace
Bathed in glory
We will always be
Lovely thoughts here today. Thank you everyone. Blessings to all.
