If you ever get discouraged about something, there is something you can do to reverse that discouragement and find hope again.
A constructive first step away from discouragement is to look beyond whatever is getting you discouraged!
God is infinite omnipresent good. Health is always present to be found. Supply is always at hand to accept. Love is always present to reflect and enjoy.
To conquer discouragement, it helps to have enough humility to admit that there is more to see than what the material senses are revealing. There is God’s infinite goodness at hand to see and welcome into one’s experience!
Whatever appears to be limiting and constricting, can be overcome and displaced by the omnipresence of God.
To succeed, think bigger, think wider, think higher! Think more spiritual.
Turn from the limited physical view, and welcome in an unlimited spiritual view.
Turn from disease to health, from lack to abundance, from conflict to Love.
Take the initiative against discouragement and find reasons in Truth to be encouraged.
Don’t get stuck in mental error. Rise in your view of spiritual Truth and be free! Conquer discouragement.
Thank you for this language to help me embrace these ideas.
Thank you Evan,, so helpful to be reminded of God’s constant goodness and care at this time
when there seems to be so many things to be discouraged about. We can rise above it and
“be free” as our lesson says this week!! Grateful beyond measure for CS and for your posts!! <3
Thank you Evan,
The tool the devil wouldn’t sell for any price from (his) toolbox, because discouragement’s a sure fire way to ensare . . .
I heard a wonderful Solo recently, played as a Postlude and did a search with the words I could remember. The lyrics really move my heart, I downloaded it to my phone and listen often; link below:

Our hymns are so like the the Psalms, the writer has been “there” and risen from the feelings of doubt or separation. I often go to.the.hymns for inspiration to start thought off on the upward way
Thanks Evan for such timely and
encouraging thoughts. And thank
you Shelagh for the link to that solo,
and website. The hymns and solos
are so uplifting.. I will use it often.
What wonderful comfort and healing come from hymns! Not only Susan’s songs are uplifting but her articles in the Christian Science periodicals.
Whenever I am tempted to feel discouraged then I try to remember this piece from Misc Writings p 277: “No evidence before the material senses can close my eyes to the scientific proof that God, good, is supreme.” Thank you so much, Evan, for your very helpful insights on this subject.
So comforting Evan, thanks. And Shelagh thanks for the solo “Humility”, so pretty. Also http://www.hymstream.com has a growing list of hymns and collections to listen to. I love to listen as I do projects.
Oops! the link is http://www.hymnstream.com
I had a typo last time.
What a great example of encouragement, catching and correcting your own typo, then correcting it immediately. I am humbled by the evidence of humility. Thank you for sharing hymnstream’s web address, I really needed it this morning!!
Thank you for.this link jhp, I haven’t come across Hymn Stream before ♡
Today I ask God, Soul, for more humility, to see above the suggestion of discouragement with the omniscience of Mind, to turn from conflict to love with the activity of Spirit, to recognize & experience safety the omnipresence of Principle, to feel satisfied in the abundance of ever present Love, to engage in the happiness of Life, to rest in the confidence of Truth.
These inspiring thoughts and hymns are like angels whispering into our spirit soothing messages that help take away discouragement that seems to want to pry into our
thinking with so many conflicting negative bombardments, especially lately.
I am so grateful for these loving shares and Thank you all. So helpful!
Not DIScouragement but ENcouragement is your gift to us all, each & every day.
Thank you, Evan.
As always, thank you! Sheree. And for yesterday’s Spiritview too!
Thank you, as always! And for yesterday’s Spiritview too!
Good Lord, Almighty, Evan! It is as if you can read my mind!!
Thanks for this treatment today.
This is a wonderful post Evan…have printed it out to keep it with me. Thank you and blessings to everyone ❣️
Regardless of the material pictures that may be suggested to us, nothing can change the facts of being. The facts of being are — perfect God, perfect man.
When I read Evan’s statement above, “Rise in your view of spiritual Truth and be free,” the thought came of something Mrs. Eddy said in S&H, “Rise in the strength of Spirit to resist all that is unlike good (God). God has made man capable of this, and nothing can vitiate the ability and power bestowed on man.” (p.393)
So God does this for us. We can rest in knowing and seeing God lifting us up above the false appearances to the true picture of All good. Blessings to all in this Spiritview community and to Evan for providing it! Happy Fourth of July weekend!
Thank you so much, Evan for this wonderful encouragement today! Needed this loving and strong metaphysical treatment very much.
Thank you all dear commenters for your inspiring, interesting and loving contributions!
Just again thinking about this.
LOVE is the cure for all ailments,.whatever it seems to be! Of course the infinite Love which God is, but also christly love from a friend or a neighbor or somebody. These are then angels, God is sending our way. Am very grateful that CS teaches God as Love, the abundantly Good!
Dear Evan,
The photos you choose are priceless, especially today’s!! Just looking at it showers me w joy and in-courage-ment!! Thank you so much!!!
Thanks Evan – as always appreciated – especially in difficult times.
jhp Thanks so much for the wrong link. I’ve been enjoying the hymns on Youtube at the bottom. I was feeling very discouraged and they have lifted my spirits. I tried to copy it so I’d have it for further enjoyment, but it didn’t work.
Thank you Evan on this wonderful lesson on encouragement and humility. As always an answer to my prayers. Also thanks you to Jhp for the link and, Shelagh in Scotland. When I saw Shelagh that you are in Scotland it took me back a few years ago when I had a wonderful family vacation in your beautiful Country. Thanks again for ALL the encouraging comments.
Thank you so much, Evan and all! This is especially encouraging to me at this time. Thinking about what my country means to me, the first thought that came to mind was “struggle.” Fireworks display last night, this post and comments, remind me to look up, look out from God’s point of view, as Christ Jesus did. He was totally humble.
Much love and gratitude to all!!
