A reflection of perfection

August 24, 2022 | 23 comments

Do you see what God sees in you?

Here’s a video where I talk about seeing yourself the way God sees you, and how it relates to healing.

This vlog was filmed on the Marina Dunes near Monterey, California, when my wife and I visited the area in May 2022.

  1. Simple message but packs a punch! I will be sticking with this today. Thank you Evan for these thoughts you give us which are always so helpful.

  2. Lovely thought for the day. It brings to mind Hymn 51 – “Eternal Mind the Potter is,
and thought the eternal clay…….” and it says in verse 2:

    “God could not make imperfect man His model infinite;
Unhallowed thought He could not plan,
‘Love’s work and Love must fit.
Life, Truth and Love the pattern make,
    Christ is the perfect heir;
The clouds of sense roll back and show
    The form divinely fair”

So we most definitely are the reflection of perfection – perfect God,
    perfect man, One in Being.

    1. Melissa thank you for reposting the article, I did not get a chance to read it last time. At this link only the first few lines are visible, can you post the shared version so all can partake? Thanks!

Evan thank you for the lovely post today. Your uplifting messages are perfection….without exception!

      1. Melissa I was able to find your lovely poem in full on the SpiritView of 3/21/22 as it did not open fully using the above link without a subscription to the periodicals. Here it is and thank you very much.

        Perfect Reflection

        Looking deep into the
        reflection in the lake
        and taking a head count,
        nothing was missing
        Every cloud, tree, leaf, blade
        of grass,
        every sailboat, duck, bird,
        nothing was missing,
        the reflection mirrored it all.

        A reflection can’t
        delete some objects
        and add others;
        reflection is exact.

        Looking deep into God,
        man is His reflected image.
        Nothing is missing,
        the reflection mirrors All.

  3. Hi Happy-Camper Evan! So glad you got to enjoy some days in the Monterey Bay area. May is a good month to visit as it can get kind of foggy in summer, especially in the mornings. (We live in Santa Cruz. Stop for a visit next time!)

Today’s Vlog-message inspired me, as they always do.
Thank you. As I relate it to how we all interact with others, (not just our fellow CSers) I was thinking how very important the rule is of not judging (as much as we possibly can!) by the material senses. This is challenging, of course, (to me anyhow!) and as regards our fellow students of CS: Do we often “size up” each other… how much or how little we express of Life, Truth, Love? Or do we… well, you understand… Christian Science standards for thought and life are the highest on this planet! Every encouragement available to keep this standard is so helpful! SpiritView and all inspiring comments are a wonderful aid in this mighty work! I thank …GOD!

  4. When Camp Owatonna first opened in Maine as a CS summer camp for boys, it was called Camp ROPIOA. This is not an Indian word. It’s an acronym for “reflection of perfection is our aim.”

  5. I am the reflection of perfection, no exception. We/ they are the reflection of perfection, no exception. Instant, immediate, precise, complete, as a halogram, no abrogation or distortion, to reflect on and be what Mind is always mindful of, perfection as our only reflex. Thank you for the concise, truth as a memorable rhyme to share.

It reminds me of the lyrics of a song from the musical, Funny Girl, sung by Barbara Streisand, as the Vaudeville star Fanny Brice for the Ziegfeld Follies when she was to be the main singer but wanted to use humor because all the other women on stage behind her were extraordinarily beautiful in theatrically gorgeous and sexy costumes dancing in precise formation, and she didn’t want to be laughed at for being ugly and uncoordinated. As a child I memorized those lyrics, singing and acting along with the record player, loving her courageous wit and thinking that there really was a spiritual lesson behind that, consistent with what God privately told me when it seemed my life was threatened or I felt beat down. Not just to think independently and to reframe things more protectively, to use humor and creativity asserting my moral choice and agency, but also how we want to be loved and actually ARE loved by God, and our life DOES reflect God‘s love for us. And we have a duty to show that to help others, using the experiences/testimonies and talents we’re given, even when we seem to be the odd or undervalued one.

“I am the beautiful reflection. Of my love’s affection. A walking illustration. Of his adoration. His love makes me beautiful. So beautiful.”

Thank you for the memory. I’m going to have fun sharing Evan’s message and singing in my mind the musical and it’s other bits of wisdom and encouragement.

    1. Edith I also had the Funny Girl album as a young teen and memorized the words to all the songs and acted them out. I loved that movie and saw it many times…..Nice memory. “We are the beautiful reflection of Love’s affection.”

  6. .Wonderful ! ! Thank you Evan , and such a beautiful place you take us to , to add to the inspiration.
..’Be. ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect..’ Matt 5
    Happy day all❣️

  7. Yes! I am the reflection of perfection without exception.
Thank you for posting your Poem again Melissa was prefect for today.
    Hugs !

  8. Thank you so much for this Vlog, Evan. Truly “You are, I am, man is” the Reflection of Perfection without Exception. This fits in so beautifully with the lesson I have prepared for tonight on “Oneness” in being the reflection of the perfect God. Hymn #524 expresses it beautifully: “Like a river that runs to the ocean, / Like a ray reaching out from the sun, / Like a branch and the tree, a drop and the sea, / I and my Father are one.” So beautiful to hear the singing of the bird and surf in the background! Thank you for sharing your inspirations and trips with us, Love to all.

  9. This is the exact statement that had come to me several years ago as I was demonstrating healing of what suggested itself as a fearful physical challenge. I had typed this message and taped it on every mirror of my house. “I am the reflection of God’s perfection without exception!” And then I stuck with the synonyms for God that evidenced what this reflection of perfection meant for me and indeed found healing. When guests came to my they would have seen this statement taped on my mirrors and I have left them there ever since. I thank divine Mind for this unique idea and for the reminder of it today!

  10. That’s amazing. When I pusher post,I received a
message that I had submitted it before.
I delegated everything. I’m very surprised it went through.

  11. Thank you very much dear Evan for your lovely Vlog.
I love this very much too so as Renis also said: To be the Reflection of Perfection without Exception !

Just open my email this morning and saw your Vlog. Boy did it change my perspective! Thank you for the wonderful reminder!!

There is no imperfection in perfection! I know you’ve always held onto the thought that you’re suffering can be the outcome of a right activity! Much love and hugs. Ali
