Adopt the inspired thought

October 16, 2023 | 32 comments

What view of the universe are you beholding today? Is it inspired?

Mary Baker Eddy wrote,

“Inspired thought relinquishes a material, sensual, and mortal theory of the universe, and adopts the spiritual and immortal”
(Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 547).

God’s universe is grand. It’s a universe of infinite Love, intelligence, wisdom, harmony, purpose, peace and good health.

Thought aware of God’s reality experiences God’s reality.

Thinking mired in mortality feels imprisoned by the demoralized, finite, depressing views mortality offers.

Make the choice to experience God’s grand Truth and Love.

Adopt a spiritual and inspired view of the universe. Make the choice to be spiritually minded. You are free to do so!

  1. Thank you Evan. You mentioned the word ‘demoralized’ and that is the exact word I used just yesterday when talking with some co-workers about our feelings of injustice, lack of fairness, lack of equality/balance regarding financial compensation from our company, new inexperienced people being hired at salaries much higher than long-term workers performing the same job. I’d indulged in this mortal thinking for a little while, feeling a bit undervalued or unappreciated by my employer. I know this is spiritually incorrect thinking and my prayers have begun to reveal some comforting things, mainly that my employer is God and that what He knows about me is what is most important. He could never undervalue me — or my co-workers. He is my [our] Source and divine supply. We can’t experience insufficiency, unfairness or lack, we are embraced in Love and God is directing our view.. The rest is just material error garbage that I was [we were] seemingly being sucked into.

Grateful for more Truth to be revealed. As Evan said, “God’s universe is grand.”

  2. A picture of complete innocence,
    peace, probably expectancy
    of continuous good.
They have on worm clothing, so no
    disturbance in thought.
Do I/we, show forth as much
peace to be seen and felt by
    others.
The picture itself is a lesson.
    Thanks Evan.
    The picture/photos, are always
    a perfect fit.

  3. Hi dear Evan, and I also am deeply grateful for these very needed SpiritView ideas!
And yes, I surely will make the choice to experience God’s grand Truth and Love! It’s very needed for important demonstrations. Am praying with the weekly lesson sermon to adopt a spiritual and inspired view of God’s Universe with all it’s wonderful creations!♡

  4. Thankyou Evan spiritview has been an inspired companion on our journey, We have experienced some wonderful healing.

  5. Thank you Evan and all. We all need to adopt the spiritual and immortal. When I am studying Christian Science from any of its literature, my aim is to adopt a new way of looking at things. I always feel relaxed when I get a new view which can bring , a restoration of peace, a doubt cleared, love expressed, etc.

    1. Thank you for this thought Josef. It made me think of Eric Nelson’s profoundly powerful poem, “God said…” that also sums this up:

When you think less of you
      and more of Me,
you’ll find that all is Me,
      including you.

    1. I was typing when your post wasn’t available, Janie. I find it amazing how the three
words you used also,.. dear, sweet and innocent were the same I used to describe
this adorable little girl. One Mind! again!

  6. This is so very helpful this morning, Evan and all. Thank you for a much needed
thought of what to adopt. What came to mind as soon as I saw the dear, innocent,
sweet little girl, from S&H pg 323,
“Willingness to become as a little child and to leave the old for the new, renders
thought receptive of the advanced idea… Blessed are the pure in heart: for they
shall see God” and further on that same page,
“It is a warfare with the flesh, in which we must conquer sin, sickness and death,
either her or hereafter, – certainly before we can reach the goal of Spirit, or life
    in God.
Also, in conjunction with today’s CS Daily Thought, “Let patience have her perfect
work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing”… and also one more
in the same line of thought with today’s Daily Lift, I had come across this quote from
Bell Hooks, ” Knowing how to be solitary is central to the art of loving. When we
can be alone, we can be with others without using them as a means of escape”.
Being alone with God, feeling His Divine Love, captures that true essence of
purity, gentleness, innocence as a dear child of God… that we all possess.

  8. Thanks much Evan. Another significant and timely SV subject. The principal qualities of God’s universe you identified and others of import are what we need to focus on in our prayers for peace in Israel.

  9. “Verily I say unto you, whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.” Mark 10: 15
The adult thought gets “mired in mortality”, and then feels imprisoned by accumulated material beliefs. One of the supreme aspirations for spiritual study and prayer is to lift off the seeming weight of the limiting and restrictive beliefs educated in mortal mind. We become more childlike as we adopt in thought the sweet innocency and purity of Soul,-feel the support of Love’s fatherhood and motherhood, and yield to the guidance and government of divine Mind.
The eyes of this precious child show forth the glorious, peaceful, satisfying views that are natural to spiritual sense. Thank you Evan.

    1. Like a child, sometimes I find it difficult to distinguish what is “real” when mortal/little mind
tries to pop up like with the “beach ball effect” where trying to supress and hold underwater material thoughts that seem to resurface again in other various forms and can seem so
virulent and persistent at times. And like with today’s challenges …the second
appearing … of Genesis, it is hard to “get” it sometimes … which is the Truth? thus constantly
adopting spiritual thought has to be so ongoing.
Sometimes it even appears there is nothing there…sometimes it is very obviously therre,
which helps sort out the conflicting aspect, but what is the real Truth and how can we
keep this Truth in thought all of time? It seems sometimes we need constant reminding and
reinforcement, but that doesn’t always seem to be there…(mortally speaking) and that can
      be a bit frustrating.
Like a child may see Superman or a clown as real or an “imaginary friend”, mortal mind
can sometimes Seem very real, as can fear, but with Spirit View’s help, I am learning…
sometimes by taking baby steps in trying to understand the Principle, the mathematics
of things. I appreciate so much the help of you all in gaining this knowledge.
