Stand on the side of Science and peace

October 17, 2023 | 27 comments

This material world is even now becoming the arena for conflicting forces. On one side there will be discord and dismay; on the other side there will be Science and peace.

~ Mary Baker Eddy, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 96

To be a positive healing influence in the world, stand on the side of “Science and peace!”

“Science,” in this passage, refers to a knowledge of God’s power and presence. Peace comes from knowing God’s power and presence at work all around.

  1. Thank you very very much, Evan! This is such a crystal clear divine truth we can know, pray and work with today and in these times and put our hands together for peace as the picture shows!
    I am really glad and thankful for today`s , as Gaye Eckert says, powerful yet simple SpiritView! 🙂

  2. Thank you Evan and all. Let’s continue to be grateful that we are studying and living the Truth that gives us peace. In hymn 276 the last line of the hymn says. “Peace of God which passeth thought” This statement leaves me with much to reflect on. Do you share the same view?

    1. Yes, Grace Ajayi, that hymn 276 is one of my favorite because it is about peace in the congregation as well as in the world. The first verse says it and the second verse is a prayer to God for peace.
      Verse 1:
      Peace be to this congregation;
      Peace to every heart therein;
      Peace, the earnest of salvation ;
      Peace, the fruit of conquered sin;
      Peace, that speaks the heavenly Giver;
      Peace, to worldly minds unknown;
      Peace, that floweth as a river
      From th’eternal source alone.

      Yes and that`s right, Grace, we have all reason to be grateful that we know and can study Christian Science, the relegion of Peace for all!

      1. I remember in one of the “Audio Chats” it might have been Evan’s talk, a story about a young boy who was told that the neighbors were tired of hearing his flock of geese honking and squabbling. It was time to get rid of the geese. Soon afterwards his mom saw him standing in front of the geese, talking to them. After that they were quiet. His mom asked what he had said to them. He replied “Peace be to this congregation!”

        1. Paula that story is so perfect and so funny. I can picture the innocence of that child fully accepting the truth of the statement about peace and applying it to his life situation with great results. As grownups, we seem to have more mortal thinking to undo and see through before we can demonstrate so easily.

  3. Thank you for this peaceful reminder, Evan. So needed in today’s worldly challenges.
    The graphic reminds me of those mazes where there is a Start and Finish to get through
    the puzzle, where one tries not to deviate or get side tracked from “Science and peace”,
    but with God’s Love, there is no beginning or end and that is a comforting feeling.
    Like the artwork above, it is inclusive in it’s circle of Love, even if outside things
    Seem to look dim and grim on the rest of the world stage. Within is the heart of belonging
    in a feeling of spiritual togetherness and peace.

  4. I think of it this way. In what environment can chaos happen. Can chaos be exposed well within more chaos or does it need its counterpart peace to expose its fearful nature. If it is peace then peace is the real structure to all that exist and chaos is on the perception power that can only be for the moment. It cannot last, it has no eternality. Its only future is to vanish into its native nothingness.

          1. Dear Cheryl, thank you for those words in your link, it’s very interesting. But, you know, I think it does not matter too much whether it is from Mrs. Eddy or another CSler or somebody else unless those words are truth or prayers for help and healing to our Father-Mother God.♡

    I invite all of you to listen (on YouTube) to Joseph Martin’s Song of Unity, a choral piece we
    turned into a solo. Here are the words:

    In Christ there is no East or West, in Him no South or North, But one great fellowship of love throughout the whole wide earth. One world communion under grace, one hope, one Lord, one faith.

    We are one song, we are one people. We have one hope, one God above. We are one voice, we are one music. We are one great song of love. We are one world, we are one spirit; one great church in Christ’s embrace.

    We take one Bread, one Wine unites us. We are bonded in God’s grace. Like the colors of the sunset, as the sands upon the shore, Each of us is very diff’rent, yet we work in one accord.

    Our diff’rences make music, a harmony of life, a symphony of sharing, one purpose, one vision, one in Christ! We are one song, we are one people. We have one hope, one God above.

    We are one voice, we are one music. We are one great song of love. We are one, a world communion. We are one in Christ’s embrace. We are one in our faith. We are one in our praise! We are one in God’s glorious grace.

    We are one! We are one! We are one!

  6. Thank you Evan.
    There is a beautiful song that is sung
    by former Mother Church Soloist, Julia Wade.
    called “Love is the reason for Living”
    I believe you can go to you tube or
    Watch Fire music.
    It very much goes along with your message today.

      1. Thanks Shelley for mention the wonderful song by Julia Wade! ♡
        And thank you, Rose for the link to that beautiful song, “Love is the reason for Living”. Julia sings it very beautifully with a special lovely voice!♡

      2. I wasn’t aware of the Watchfire website, Rose and thought one needed to subscribe.
        A plethora of heaven – there!
        Along the music theme … two thoughts I came across:

        “Music gives a Soul to the Universe
        Wings to the Mind
        Flight to the imagination and
        Life to Everything” – Plato and

        “After silence, that which comes nearest to expressing
        the inexpressible is music” – Aldous Huxley

        … and I might add, Poetry and Flowers and
        Sunsets and Rainbows and… and … and … LOL : )

  7. All of these absolutely Delightful songs and music and articles are so special and
    endearing! How Beautiful! They uplift in such smiling ways the Soul of Love. ( I am
    so glad to be able to look them up/find them on YouTube.)
    I love being able to be on…the side of “Science and Peace”.
    With peace and love to all … <3 Hoping all have felt the love shared here, like in
    the harmony of the hands held above.
