Affirm health, not sickness

February 15, 2022 | 20 comments

If you want to stay healthy, affirm health as your eternal spiritual reality, and believe it.

The human mind experiences what it believes, so to stay healthy, it’s critical that it agrees with health, and not with sickness.

Mary Baker Eddy, a successful Christian healer, wrote,

“Not muscles, nerves, nor bones, but mortal mind makes the whole body ‘sick, and the whole heart faint;’ whereas divine Mind heals.

“When this is understood, we shall never affirm concerning the body what we do not wish to have manifested. We shall not call the body weak, if we would have it strong; for the belief in feebleness must obtain in the human mind before it can be made manifest on the body, and the destruction of the belief will be the removal of its effects” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 219).

To stay well, agree with health today! Disagree with illness.

As a spiritual being, God made you healthy and keeps you healthy. This is your eternal reality to experience every moment of your life. Affirm it, believe it, and live it!

  1. Thank you for this much needed treatment today Evan…a great help to me at present.
    I was listening to a talk from High Ridge House recently and thought a verse from a poem by Robert Frost was well worth sharing;

…‘I shall be telling this with a sigh
    Somewhere, ages and ages hence
    Two roads diverged in a wood..and I –
I took the one less travelled by
And that made all the difference..’

So essential to make that choice within our thought, denying fear ( whatever it’s seeming form ) and claiming our divine heritage❣️

  2. Thank you thank you for the blessings this morning! We so need those thoughts that govern our days. Watching and waiting for that Mind to be in us. Linda

  3. Two men looked out from prison bars,
The one saw the mud, the other saw
    stars
    Dale Carnegie

This applies to everything. We have
a choice. Let’s go for the stars.

  4. – God’s diagnosis of creation: “And God saw everything that he had made, and behold it was very good.” (Gen. 1:31)
    – Material sense is illusory – even when we’re standing knee-deep in it.
    – A limited or distorted view of ourselves isn’t going to change or affect what God created: perfection, eternal because of our reflected identity!

I recently came across another article “Challenging and correcting human belief” by Daniel Jensen. In case you are interested and haven’t read it:

  5. Yes CRL agreed, sometimes it is moment by moment to stick with God. “…choose you this day whom ye will serve….but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord” (Joshua 24:15)

Evan said that as a spiritual being, God made us healthy and keeps us healthy. If we find ourselves disagreeing with that assessment, then we are disagreeing with God.

Also reiterating what Linda from Santa Barbara shared yesterday, an uplifting Sentinel Watch podcast with Dave Scott of the Monitor about love-inspired initiatives taking place in many parts of the world. She gave a phone number to listen (713) 595-5210. Here is a link https://sentinel.christianscience.com/sentinel-audio/sentinel-watch

I had also mentioned a website Good News Network (goodnewsnetwork.org) that posts only positive stories as an antidote to where thought can be pulled when listening to most mainstream media. Thanks and love to everyone.

    1. Thanks Rose, for the Sentinel Watch podcast with Tony Loble about loving our neighbor♡
Thank you “J” for the Sentinel article by Daniel Jensen, which is also
      very good. ♡

  6. What really hit me in Evan’s first sentence were the words “and believe it”. I am pretty good at declaring spiritual truths about health – but do I always believe what I’m declaring? Ah sadly not always. I need them to be more than words to me. More work to be done there I think. Am so grateful for the extracts from Science and Health quoted by Evan and also for Daniel Jenson’s article given by J. His article “Beginning Rightly” is one of my all time favourites.

  7. Thank you Evan. I love the definition of health as maximum functioning. And why not we are God’s Mind’s functioning expressed.

  8. Thank you Rose for the additional link to the Sentinel Watch program, and also for contributing an online resource to positive news. I have made a note of the Good News Network site for future reference.
J,- thank you for your post of quotes from Daniel Jensen, along with his article “Challenging and Correcting Human Belief”. This clear and concise article exudes the conviction and confidence of one who has witnessed many fruits of the Spirit and proofs of Christian Science healing. Linda, Dan Jensen’s lecture “Beginning Rightly” is also one of my favorites of all time. For those who may not know, it’s available to listen to on the Historical Christian Science Lecture site.

  9. Thank you Angie; such a wonderful and helpful article! It is so comforting for me to be asured that we all have spiritual sense with which we can go beneath the surface and see what God sees, the truth about us as God’s child, our health and perfection.
I am glad and thankful I can learn this heavenly Truth in Christian Science!
Thank you very much Evan for daily helping us on the right way!

  10. Thank you Evan and SV and all contributors, such beautiful and inspiring ideas of divine Love.
Love TMC invitation to this year’s annual mtg.

  11. THANK YOU SO MUCH. THE PICTURE OF THE KIDS WITH WOOLEN SCARVES, MUIFFLERS IS SO GREAT. MY FRIEND AND I AS KIDS ALWAYS GOT A NEW MATCHING SCARF EACH WINTER. I AM DRESSING FOR THE DAYS AHEAD WITH THOUGHT TURNED TO WHAT I WANT LIFE TO BE AND WHAT I AM CHERISHING FROM MRS.EDDY’S WRITINGS.

  12. Thanks Evan for reminding us of God’s Constance protection and care over His nation. Whenever we becomes overwhelmed with a problem or situation our father -Mother is close at hand to remind us you are not alone .
