This is a fun video clip to watch of a 97-year-old woman who decided she needed to get her driver’s license back so she could help her neighbor get to the grocery store.

  1. Thank you Evan for this very helpful and inspiring and lovely video! I often think of Kaleb who said in the Bibel, that he has the same strength with 80 years, than he had with 40. Thats because he was obidient to God. From the bibelstories we see that it is always good to work allways with God.
To me it would be interesting to know whether this woman was a Christian Scientist or not. Ok, in the end it does not matter if she is or not.

  2. My goodness Evan, the video is so so amazing…. I am reminded of Mrs Eddy’s words : “Except for the error of measuring and limiting all that is good and beautiful, man would enjoy more than threescore years and ten and still maintain his vigour, freshness, and promise. Man, governed by immortal Mind, is always beautiful and grand. Each succeeding year unfolds wisdom, beauty, and holiness. Life is eternal. We should find this out, and begin the demonstration thereof. Life and goodness are immortal. Let us then shape our views of existence into loveliness, freshness, and continuity, rather than into age and blight.”
This lady who is 97 years old looks so grand and beautiful. She goes alone to get back her license which was taken away from her due to her age factor, But she fills her form with no seeing aid, no spectacles. She manages to get back her license and rejoices.
What is most wonderful, is that, at the age of 97 instead of being dependent, she chooses to drive her friend to the grocery store and help her, when the regular bus which took them to the grocery store, stopped.
Thank you so very much Evan. The video is so very good and inspiring. “Neither age nor accident can interfere with the senses- of soul, and there are no other real senses.” Mary Baker Eddy. The above quote came alive after seeing the video.

  3. Thank you for this reminder Evan. My aunt was like this dear lady. At 98 she had never lost her license and drove everyday to the market for her groceries, drove to church every Sunday and was active there, and twice a week drove cancer patients to their appointments. She still lived in the house she had lived in for 64 years and was active in her community. She had no need of glasses, a hearing aid or a cane. She was unfailingly happy, kind, gentle, loving, and patient. Although she was not a Christian Scientist she certainly exemplified Christly qualities. I think we all know someone like this. Did she live a life doing great things? Maybe not according to the world’s standards but to me she is a shining example of the true woman of God’s creating.

  4. This instance of dominion over some of the beliefs around “age” proves it can be done by all of us.

“Comparisons are odorous,” however… Especially when harsh. If one is struggling mightily with aging-beliefs, the more compassion the better! Never criticism…
    Even subtle stuff.

Mary Baker Eddy lived into her ninth decade, and in a time when the average lifespan was 45. She knew God’s idea, man, is ageless, deathless…

The Light of Life is dawning….

    :-))))

  5. Evan,

I do not have a Facebook account and do not want one. Can you send it to me another way;.

    Thank you.

  6. I don’t have Facebook but was able to view this video with Evan’s link. What impressed me most was the great smile this lovely woman maintained. She is certainly an inspiration!

  7. Thank you Evan! I was reading an article on the NPR web site a week or so ago entitled “The Last Razor Repairman In Paris” about a 73-year old man that has an electric razor repair shop. His shop is in prime real estate and he gets a lot of offers to buy it but he doesn’t want to stop working. His last quote in this article was the following:

“When you stop working, you just think about yourself,” he says. “And that’s the beginning of the end.”

This lady struck me as incredibly unselfish. She seemed to be more concerned about others than herself. Perhaps that is the “key” to demonstrating over age beliefs! Like the razor repairman and this lady, if we continually live to serve others, that will keep thought from dwelling on old age beliefs.

  8. Thanks Evan, So enjoyed this video, it was so amazing, I don’t believe she even wore glasses. It gives one a lift, she had love in her heart and wanted to help her neighbor, that was the most important thing. Beth

  9. Thank you! This made my day and gave me inspiration to continue living a full life! Loved this video and will share it with others.

  10. To think that those who have their name registered on the membership role with the Christian Science Church are the only Christian Scientists, to me, is not accurate. There are many who follow the words of admonition which Jesus spoke: “Follow me”. That is, follow Christ, the “Comforter”. I am grateful to be living with such a one; she has and is demonstrating the Science of Christianity by her obedience to and love for the divine word. I tell her she, too, is a Christian Scientist, and for this God loves her, as He does all of His children within His entire creation. My wife deeply loves hearing these words, for she loves Christian Science, the Church, and it’s adherents. People, such as she, are Christian Scientists for their thought, and expression of this correct thought, include them. Perhaps, too many to count for infinity is eternal. Think of those dear founders of the USA. They, also, had not heard the words, Christian Scientist, nor had the Biblical prophets, as well as many others, but they were demonstrating, Life, Truth, and Love, without giving a name to their work, or spirititualized thought. Christian Science is all encompassing.

  11. Thank you Evan for sharing this, she is such a good example to all of us of how to share what she has to give unselfishly. We all have a lot to give !!!
