How to behave toward others

April 24, 2015 | 4 comments

“Here is a simple, rule-of-thumb guide for behavior: Ask yourself what you want people to do for you, then grab the initiative and do it for them. Add up God’s Law and Prophets and this is what you get.”

~ Jesus Christ, Matthew 7:12, MSG

Would you like more respect, more understanding, more love and patience coming from others? Show it to them, and you’ll find it coming right back. It won’t necessarily come back from the very person you show it to, but it will come back to you from life’s blessings at large, and often in unexpected ways. Genuine giving from the heart has its rightful reward.

  1. I love the various Bible translations that you share with us. Seeing a familiar Bible verse presented in a different wording makes me think again about the verse as if I was reading it for the first time. Thanks!

  2. The Bible should be our main source of all knowledge, etiquette, wisdom full of guidance instead of what is depicted from the media-(Fantasy, depreciation and falsification.)

  3. “It won’t necessarily come back from the very person you show it to…” I love that promise. When practicing respect, patience, and love and “ok, you first” toward the crowded traffic masses of LA, I notice that later somewhere else in the teaming universe of cars, the same courtesy is surprisingly offered to me when needed. Thank you, Evan, for the lovely assurance you stated in your essay. I appreciate your heart – insights and joy. Bless you!
