“Blessings accrue on a good and honest life…”

~ Proverbs 10:6, MSG

To live with a clean conscience, to be outwardly what you feel inwardly, to be able to speak your mind and know that what you say will have an uplifting effect on those around you, to tell the truth without hesitation, and to never have to spend time making something up to cover an error, are truly blessings that accrue growing benefit.

  1. A good and honest person need not ever fear. Such a person is always happy and healthy, cheerful and prosperous. Why??? Since “Blessings accrue on a good and honest life…” What a lovely inspiration Evan. Thanks so very much.

If dishonesty goes unseen, never be happy.. The Almighty is the all-knowing and the all-seeing God. Nothing can escape from His eyes. Breaking God’s law by being dishonest only brings misery. “Honesty is spiritual power. Dishonesty is human weakness, which forfeits divine help.”

We can not expect to be happy if we are living in dishonesty. “If living in disobedience to Him, we ought to feel no security, although God is good.”

For our well being, our happiness and our good health, its so essential to be honest and good. “Goodness attains the demonstration of Truth.”

  2. May I suggest (to Nergish) that you mention the source of your quotes (from Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy)? Many visitors to SpiritView will recognize that, but our Leader has asked us to be faithful in attributing her words to her. I know it is your intent.

  3. The citations which I have mentioned in ” ” quotes dear readers, are from Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures By Mary Baker Eddy, the discoverer and founder of Christian Science.

  4. Just Wonderful! Thank you, Evan! And, may I add, being honest with ourselves also involves telling the truth to ourselves about how we are feeling and not trying to deny and bury our feelings or cover them up with positive affirmations. Also, being honest means being willing to let someone know what’s REALLY going on with us and to speak up about it. Good relationships with ourselves and others depends on ruthless honesty about our deepest feelings. Otherwise we are just living a false life of lies and there can be no depth to our relationship with God, Ourselves and with Others. Healing needs to occur on All levels, not just the mental. We are still feeling Human Beings – here to Heal on many levels while we are working out our own salvation on this earth plane. Feel, Deal and Heal! Much Love!

  5. Lovely!

I’d just like to add the importance of being honest in a loving way, so it uplifts others, as you say above. At times this can be a real challenge for me (and I know I’m not alone in this). That hasn’t stopped me from trying! I haven’t always had good results, but I do my best. And, the more I study and pray, the better I get at it.

The other aspect is learning to be honest with one’s self. “To thine own self be true,” with self as God’s image and likeness. Listening to God and not what others think is so important! Not that we shouldn’t think of others; but it’s essential not to get sucked into criticism or manipulation. Doing our best to stay honest and true to God helps keep us safe from self-doubt, safe in our identity as God’s pure idea.

  6. Be true to yourself is the best recommendation to happiness for it’s bases is spiritual and not material which results in annialation.

  7. Thanks to all for your insights on honesty. “Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.” (Matt. 5:8) Isn’t having a pure heart the ultimate of honesty? And what results is seeing God expressed (be manifested). Truly a blessing!

  8. Thanks Ellen. I too feel the same way as you do…. Listening to God is more important than what people say and not to get sucked into criticism.
I even liked Lori’s insight of having a pure heart is the ultimate of honesty. “Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.” (Matt.5:8).
