Cherish no resentment

It feels so much better to forgive, let go of the resentment, and love more…

You will not be punished for your anger; you will be punished by your anger. ~ Buddha

Resentment is like taking poison and waiting for the other person to die. ~ Malachy McCourt

“The Christian Scientist cherishes no resentment; he knows that that would harm him more than all the malice of his foes.” ~ Mary Baker Eddy, Message for 1902, page 19

  1. I am so glad for this blog. No matter how much you correct a person about resentment, unless that person responds or that is receptive to the correction, it falls on deaf ears. How tragic, a simple thing is to forgive and yet humans stubbingly tend to stay with their resentment.

  2. I think people cling to their resentment because they believe that forgiving means you’re taking the offender “off the hook” when what you’re really doing is taking yourself off the hook! ~ Robyn

  3. This brief pearl of wisdom comes after a four hour argument with my daughter in which no one ever comes out feeling better. This is a lovely way of letting go and just letting the bitterness be what it is — nothing!

  4. Thank you, Evan, and everyone. The Malachy quote struck me as ridiculously funny…a wake up call to face up to “my” current resentments (another name for fears!) Loving is so much easier…and healthier!
