There’s worldwide concern about climate change these days, and rightfully so. Mankind’s impact on the environment is undeniable, and according to many scientists, causes extreme weather patterns that create hardship for millions of people affected by harsh weather.
Many look to political leaders and titans of industry to make needed changes. And we can all pray that leaders of governments and industry are inspired by wisdom to make choices that contribute to a healthy climate. But we mustn’t wait around for someone else to get the job done. There’s something we all can do to make a difference.
To see how to make a difference it helps us to understand that we live in a world of thought. Anytime there is an improvement in this “world of thought,” there is going to be an improvement in the climate found in that world.
Mary Baker Eddy astutely observes, “The physical universe expresses the conscious and unconscious thoughts of mortals” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 484). With this truth in mind, it’s logical to conclude that as the “conscious and unconscious thought of mortals” improve, the universe they experience, improves also.
And the best effect comes from spiritualization of thought.
As people around the globe are more loving toward each other, kinder, compassionate, thoughtful, and considerate, the climate they live in is going to improve.
As there is less selfishness and more unselfishness, less greed and more generosity, less callousness and more kindness, the environment people see around them is going to improve. A better state of thought produces a healthier environment.
So, there’s no time to lose. You have work to do! You can have a positive impact on the climate through the positive, spiritual thoughts you contribute to the mental environment you share with neighbors around the world.
Thoughts of Truth and Love always have a positive impact!

Thanks Evan, I’ve often thought about how we can influence the mental climate whether for good or bad, with every thought we think. First step is to be conscious of each thought.

Thank you, Kathi – yes, the world needs to feel more of the Love of God,, and by loving one another we help to dissipate the hate and the evil that seems to be spreading, As Mrs. Eddy tells us “Love is the liberator”. It is all powerful and ever present everywhere, and we can help to bring it to light even in our own small ways.

there are many evil forces in the world today vying to take God’s place – be it with
the weather – most important, because our “human”, animal and plant lives –
(all really of True God’s creations), depend on it for a sustainable planet. Other
idols of materiality that contribute to a more chaotic and hostile environment,
through wars between nations, and against individuals, which all need healing,
also, to bring peace of thought and action.
Your message in collective, spiritual thinking and doing, in helping to correct
erroneous mankind’s unkindness and uncaring ways is very much appreciated,
to make a more peaceful and harmonious mental environment, which also helps
with our “physical” environment.

A favourite bulletin board at school was one that showed “polluting thoughts” vs “healthy thoughts”. Identifying qualities is key to helping children understand your message for our environment. Love that picture!
I like your mention of healthy vs polluted thoughts, Kristin, be it toxins in the
environment, heat pollution, drought, deluge, fire, smoke – or mental pollution
of any kind that would pose a risk to the enjoyment or benefit of one or all.
Spiritual thoughts permeate into peaceful thoughts where all are benefitted
and none are offended or brought into a fog of non-clarity, because spiritual
thoughts are always making the world a Better place. When focussing on
the spiritual (clear, unpolluted) view of things, the God-given joy that is so
desperately needed in our world today, erases the pollution of matter-thinking
in to loving harmony.
In atmosphere of love divine, we live and move and breathe…(Hymn 144). Everything is balanced in the kingdom of heaven. No harsh extremes of temperature and no harsh feelings of anger have reality or power. The balance is not one group on one extreme and another group at the other extreme, but both blending in a balance of good constantly in motion. Man cannot be exposed to the harsh radiation of greed or sacrificing a few so many can be benefitted. The only real power lies in the radiation of divine Love, that blesses every single one and leaves no one out. I am finding that I need to start demonstrating this atmosphere with my own self and my own household. Then I can see better to help community concerns of groups with seemingly opposite perspectives to see the balanced way forward where there is progress for everyone.

Such an important toppic which must be adressed of course metaphysically and from the spiritual standpoint, as Mrs. Eddy says “all is Spirit and all is spiritual, matter cannot help you”. Purging the climate here where we are depends on our thinking, whether we listen to God’s good and healthy thoughts and express only God’s qualities of selfless Love. That only heals the climate to the better!
