What makes you a success?
By worldly standards, success is often measured in material terms, for instance, according to how much money one earns, the job they hold, the feats they laud, and the awards they display for public view. But with Spirit, success is measured in a very different way.
Success that matters over the long term is spiritual. It’s about the love we live, the care we share, the generosity extended to those in need, the genuine contentment felt within, gratitude, joy, and good health we experience from living a spiritually inspired life.
True success accomplishes eternal good. It’s about discovering what we have with God that is never taken from us. Its riches are always in hand. Its wealth is never stolen or lost. Its blessings are discovered to be a permanent part of our being. They come from God and are forever ours to enjoy.
When we are clear on true success, we are less tempted to sacrifice spiritual good for the pursuit of material ideals. For instance, is more time at the office worth missing all the children’s special events? Is grandstanding a self-righteous position worth the cost of losing good friends?
It’s a good question to ask: “What is more important? A position we gain in the world, or what we gain in Love?”
Instant forgiveness, unconditional compassion, unqualified kindness, universal love are the ingredients of a successful life.
Seek the spiritual above all else for genuine success. It will bring you the best.
Amen!
And love the graphic today. Everyone needs this inspiration….even if they don’t quite know it yet….everyone is included in the availability of seeing more spiritually…even if they don’t quite experience it yet…..The treasure is that , in reality, we are enjoying all the benefits of Gods Love and guidance right NOW. Heaven on earth , our birthright.
Thank you Evan ❣️
Thanks for your statement: “Heaven on earth , our birthright.” I’ve been driving to an early morning appointment and prayed all the way that I could feel God’s presence ( heaven) right here and right now..
It works. We are blessed .
Excellent thoughts with which to start the day. Thanks Evan.
The most truly successful man that ever trod the earth, was also the meekest, most compassionate and courageous; apart from being able to do works and manifest thoughts that far outweigh anything or anyone before or since then.
Let all be done to glorify God and never man. That’s the Christ’s way.
Glorify God and not man. Glorify Love Mind !and not selfish pride. Amen and THANK YOU!
“What we gain from Love.”
When I walked our dog I always looked
straight ahead. One day after my husband
passed on I was walking with my head
bent. On my walk I found 3 perfectly shaped
♥️’S etched in the sidewalk at different
places.
I was surprised the cement could form
perfect hearts.
I have 72 heart pictures on my phone,
almost all from nature. A few rocks,
cereal pieces, tree branches forming
heats, and more.
A Science friend is now finding heart
stones.
When I first started finding them in
sidewalks, I thought, this is a Love
conspiracy to let us know you can’t stop love
from being seen and felt.
Love is ever present, in the smallest detail, I
have 72 pictures to prove it.
Love this!
Thanks fo much or sharing this simple joy in your life. I am now asking my holy angels to show me hearts in nature. I am going to love that, too!!!
M, your lovely story about the many hearts you’ve seen reminds me of the story of Mrs. Eddy’s writing the poem, “Signs of the Heart.” One day during a particularly stressful time she was looking through a sheaf of papers. She removed the rubber band around them and tossed it on the desk. It fell into the shape of a heart. She took that as a sign that God was all around her, loving her and caring for her. That experience moved her to write the poem, found on page 24 of the little volume, Poems. I may not have exact details correct, but that is a true story.
“What the world needs now, is love, sweet Love” comes to mind from this beautiful blog
this morning. Love IS really everywhere if we are open to finding it ~ in nature, in blossoming
buds, in the wag of a dog’s tail, in those we meet on our errands, in the hearts of everyone
here. Lovely! Thank you, Evan and for All, in being here to share this Love.
Dear Carol,
Ms. Warwick’s timeless “What the World Needs Now is Love Sweet Love”, was popular in ’67.
That song was what my Mother’s wish was as she was passing in that year of rioting in Detroit.
Things have improved since then. But prayer is still so needful as conflicting forces continue to rattle their sabers. I wouldn’t harm my neighbors. I try to bless them. Nations should do the same. That effort always brings a inner satisfaction. It’s truly gives wealth and riches. Something permanent, eternal and satisfying.
David, I’m so glad the quote brought memories of your dear Mom’s wishes. Love truly is the answer to all the world’s seeming woes.
July 20, 1967. Working construction atop the Volunteer’s of America Building on the corner of Russell & Piquette, Detroit. I had been carrying a pipe on my shoulder. A helicopter came near. Commanded me to throw down my weapon! A scary experience.
At lunch time I went street level. I was approached by a man who said that he was hungry. I had only a couple dollars in my pocket. I told him that I couldn’t help him. His face was scarred from many grafts from the Vietnam conflict.
Soon after he was gone, my boss came and told of my Mother’s passing.
I have never turned down a beggar since that day…
Something you never forget….
The day of her funeral I left the grave site so tearful I let my new wife drive. I had the door window open with my arm out of it. A white dove set down on my right elbow. It looked at me and flew up…When a boy of 7 big brothers I seldom got any attention from her. She said “Good by David”… I was the only one…
A treasure…Try to buy that!
A beautiful story David, thank you for sharing with us

Thank you Angie for sharing that beautiful article! Very powerful.
LOVE that you shared this today: “Instant forgiveness, unconditional compassion, unqualified kindness, universal love are the ingredients of a successful life.” Thank you SO MUCH Evan for your daily sharing!
Love is a strong bond
On today’s subject, the meaning of success, I think that as spiritual conceptions of events, people and happenings appear more real to us and easier to perceive, and as material outlooks are seen more quickly to be clearly false, we are on the right track. Mrs. Eddy has said, “Gladness to leave the false landmarks and joy to see them disappear, – this disposition helps to precipitate the ultimate harmony.” (S&H p. 324). Love, love, love to all of you in SV family!
I just came back.
A definition of Soul can be the art side of God.
The sunrise, the sunset, a rainbow , a snow fall, a waterfall, children playing, friends, Evan’s videos,
even ♥️’S, all indications of God with us. Thank
you God!
And yes we need to let go of matter, and
“Resolve things into thoughts, and replace the
objects of material sense wit spiritual ideas.
Good point Rose.
This just came to thought.
S&H p 240 6-9
“The floral apostles are hieroglyphs of Deity. Suns
and planets teach grand lessons. The stars make
night beautiful, and the leaflet turns naturally toward the light.
These come to us when needed, and how we will
understand them.
Again thanks!
Evan’s comment: “Instant forgiveness, unconditional compassion, unqualified kindness, universal love are the ingredients of a successful life” made me think of Tony Lobl’s article on JSH-Online “Loving our neighbors as ourselves”. In case you missed it:

Dear Evan
Thank you for writing these thoughtful messages on Love. They are so helpful in working through the challenges of everyday life.
Thank you, Evan. Your words remind me these other sacred words: “But seek ye first the kingdom of God [Love], and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you” (Matthew 6:33).
