Don’t Fear the Flu

January 29, 2014 | 10 comments

This is the time of year when it’s wise to build up your metaphysical defenses against suggestions of contagion, fever or flu.

It’s not bacteria or virus that presents the leading danger but fears about them. You can pray ahead of time to be fear-free and empowered to put down suggestions of flu before they have a chance to germinate and feel like more than a suggestion.

Paul wrote, “For in him we live, and move, and have our being” (Acts 17:28). God is omnipresent good. To live in the omnipresence of divine Love is to be consciously in an environment of wholesome goodness. There is only the effect of God’s goodness to be seen and felt all around you, wherever you are. Whether in a classroom, in an office, at a mall, or at home, God is there, and only God is there.

God has a good effect on you at all times. Be aware of this good effect.

Know that a suggestion of flu cannot defeat God’s presence and push your health aside. God is not pushed around by error-beliefs.

A suggestion of contagion is only a suggestion, and not an enforceable truth.

God is the sustainer of your health, and is present sustaining wellness for you 24/7.

You are safe in God’s ever-present care, and so is everyone around you.

Don’t be a pushover for error. Stand strong with Truth and stay healthy! Christ is present to help.

“When the condition is present which you say induces disease, whether it be air, exercise, heredity, contagion, or accident, then perform your office as porter and shut out these unhealthy thoughts and fears. Exclude from mortal mind the offending errors; then the body cannot suffer from them.” Science and Health, p. 392.

  1. Thanks Evan, What a lovely article. Feel like reading it again and again. A sense of peace and calm comes from knowing that we live, move, and have our being in God. And Gods being is infinity, freedom, harmony and boundless bliss. Gods good fills all space so there is no room for fear or flue.

  2. Thank You Evan! I feel like I’ve just been given a wonderful treatment! So powerful and practical! I will read it again and again!

  3. Thanks, Evan! A wonderful example of prayer- not a formula- but a roadmap to see the whole view and not to focus on the minutiae .
    A great day to all!

  4. I was listening on tv this morning and they were discussing cold vrs. flu. I fast forwarded the discussion, not wanting to listen and fill my thoughts with the report. How grateful I am to read your truths . I wrote down every word in my journal. I also appreciated all the other commentators. God is always on the field and we have the armor of Truth and Love to protect us.

  5. Thanks Evan! I love this line, “A suggestion of contagion is only a suggestion, and not an enforceable truth.” So true indeed! I’m a tad late reading, but this compliments the lesson I did last night for church – “Christ healing, not sickness, is contagious!” How wonderful to know we don’t have to buy into or accept “bad” contagions, only that which best promotes our health and lives! Thanks for this spot on blog!

  6. From the day get-go, one and only one prayer I use and it’s been protecting me ever since. I am 77 years young. “It FLU in to fly out.” It’s like a bird that flies in to the house by one window open and flies out again through another window. That’s it and I never got the crazy suggestion.
