Do you ever feel like you have no choice but to get angry at actions you find offensive?
When witnessing what you perceive to be stupidity or malice at work, it may feel tempting to get angry. But it’s wise to keep one’s spiritual perspective intact that leads to mastery of the situation, rather than subjection to it.
If we allow anger to take over our thoughts, we are no longer thinking for ourselves. We are being used by mortal mind for evil purposes.
The apostle Paul wisely instructs, “Don’t sin by letting anger control you.” He is so clear on the evils of anger that he continues, “Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry, for anger gives a foothold to the devil” (Ephesians 4:26,27, NLT).
For the best life, keep anger out. Master it. You don’t need it. It’s not a friend. It’s an enemy to health and happiness.
Stick with Love instead. Live Love. Be Love in action. Anoint and bless others with Love. Everyone will be better off, including yourself.
very very helpful, thank you very much!
God is infinite Love! No anger, or anything unlike Love, there at all. Love, love, love, love Live Love & be love.
A timely reminder! Thanks Evan. X
So beautifully stated, Evan. Anger would prevent us from acknowledging God’s ever present Love and its healing authority. We need to put it down any time it tries to present itself.
Thank you Evan.
OK! Right-O! The Wisdom of this is Clear!
Now….will i be tested?
hmmmmmm….
oops, i just got angry with my self for not…. 1.2.3….
Stoppit, dear Sue!!
Sue, I love your sense of humor! (and your name-Spiritual Pioneer)
Oh this is the Blessed answer I needed. I Prayed last night for GOD to show me what I needed to know to handle this situation of anger i was feeling. This morning my Prayer was answered. It explained what I needed to do. Thankyou Dear Evan, I appreciate this very much.. thankyou also to all the uplifting comments too.
Great thoughts to live by. Thank you, Evan and all.
My definition of anger:
“Accomplishes Nothing. Gives Error Room.”
Thank you, Evan! I’ve been praying more about this recently. It came to me that anger comes from a fear that somehow good, God is not present and won’t be present. Then to stop angry thoughts, I instead was grateful for the present good. It eradicated the anger–which I was very grateful for! I continue to mine this healing whenever I’m aware of angry thoughts. And thank you, Liza. I like that definition. So true!!
Thanks L. I agree that anger (and probably all negative emotions) comes from an underlying false belief that God is not present, that we are somehow on our own and have to solve or fix things, people, ourselves etc. So glad we can relax and trust God and stick with Love, Love, Love.
Thank you, Evan, once again for this incredible blog. I have found when an individual is mean and ugly to me and I respond with love, calmness, and understanding then peace ensues.
It’s not always easy and it’s almost easier to lash back at them and be angry back at them, but nothing gets accomplished when doing that.
Evan has a blog on an experience he had and how he handled anger with someone. I will look for it.
Thank you, Amazing Evan!
Thank you very much, dear Evan, for the reminder that anger doesn’t make anything better and doesn’t benefit, wow it rather is sin as the apostle. Paul said.
And it is very unhealthy. So it would be healthy to love, love, love and be love, as Janib mentions here.
Our hymn # 156 I find very comforting, calming and healing:
In Thee, O Spirit true and tender,
I find my life as God’s own child;
Within Thy light of glorious splender
I lose the earth-clouds drear and wild.
Within Thy love is safe abiding
From every thought that giveth fear;
Within Thy truth a perfect chiding,
Should I forget that Thou art near.
In Thee I have no pain or sorrow,
No anxious thought, no load of care;
Thou art the same today, tomorrow;
Thy love and truth are everywhere.
Thank you all dear SV friends for your interesting comments ♡
Thank you dear Uta for sharing Hymn 156. As I read it I felt a sigh of release of tension. It is, as you said, comforting and calming. It gives a sense of safety and a feeling of the all-encompassing nature of God, good.
Thank you dear Rose for your very loving and healing words. They do so good to me! ♡
