Don’t judge. Love!

November 21, 2018 | 29 comments

Are you ever tempted to judge your neighbor harshly and form a negative opinion about them? If so, you can choose to love instead.

Love is what will do you and your neighbor the most good.

Love sees past the shortcomings of a mortal to the presence of good.

Love does not size another person up according to their political affiliation, religion, skin color, sexual orientation, rituals, beliefs or backgrounds. Love sees beyond the material, to the spiritual, and then works to bring more of the spiritual out for the betterment of everyone.

As Jesus taught, “Look beneath the surface so you can judge correctly” (John 7:24, NLT).

In Truth, all of God’s children are good people. They express wisdom, intelligence, respect, honesty, integrity, understanding, forgiveness and love.

When the human eye sees a mortal acting in an ungodlike way, what the eye sees is not the truth about God’s man, and should not be adopted into thought as a truth. We can improve the situation by rejecting the picture of evil and replacing it with an understanding of how God created man in the first place—as wholly good.

When another person does something offensive, rather than get angry or judgmental, know that what you heard, or saw is not a reality to fear or attack, but an unreality to heal with spiritual truth. Stay in a mindset of love and behold the child of God’s creating. Keep your thought in a high place, and let divine Love form your opinion about them and reveal how you can best improve the situation and bring blessing to all.

Choose to be a healer, not a reactor. Choose to love.

  1. Thank you Evan for raising this issue. The mortal seeming is the house divided:
John 7:24 Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.

“The Supreme Bench decides in favor of intelligence, that no law outside of divine Mind can punish or reward Mortal Man. Your personal jurors in the Court of Error are myths. Your attorney, False Belief, is an impostor, persuading Mortal Minds to return a verdict contrary to law and gospel. The plaintiff, Personal Sense, is recorded in our Book of books as a liar. Our great Teacher of mental jurisprudence speaks of him also as “a murderer from the beginning. ” We have no trials for sickness before the tribunal of divine Spirit. There, Man is adjudged innocent of transgressing physical laws, because there are no such laws. Our statute is spiritual, our Government is divine. “Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?” S&H 441:25

  2. Yes it’s never good to judge anyone from the material picture and form opinions. If we understand that God’s creation is entirely good, we will only seek to see the good in everyone. This higher, spiritual view is developed when we base our life on our spiritual sense. ” Spiritual sense is the constant, conscious capacity to understand God”. This understanding enables us to see perfect God and His perfect creation, finds all in God good and needs no other consciousness.
Thanks Evan for these daily reminders to rise higher and higher to get a better view of God and His perfect creation.

    1. Nergish, I especially like your last sentence “Thanks Evan for these daily reminders to rise higher and higher to get a better view of God and His perfect creation.” That’s exactly what Evan does…raises our thought higher! Well put. (=

  3. This is the best way to begin each day (and continue to remind ourselves throughout the day) to make sure we are really loving others each and every time and not judging at all! Thank you, Evan, for all your wonderful sharing throughout the year and for every contributor! Much gratitude and Happy Thanksgiving to all! This blog brightens each of my days so much more than you can imagine!
    Grateful!!

  4. A great reminder to not be taken in by seeming wrong and making a false judgment. Thank you for this inspiration on not judging. As mentioned by Jane, this blog brings me many blessings.

  5. There is no more appropriate time than the US Thanksgiving holiday for me to say a heartfelt thank you to Evan for his tireless work at supporting our spiritual journeys and to all the contributors who share their perspectives, I love reading them daily.

  6. You can’t fight your way into Heaven! And it certainly doesn’t depend on the number of heads lopped off by the sword. The only way to love is love and the only way to Heaven is acceptance of its Truth as divine selfless Love.

  7. Though we have walked
Through times of doubt and fear,
Always, always, God has been–is–with us,
    Guiding, guarding,
Leading us to green pastures of hope, faith, healing!

    Thank You, God!

    Happy Thanks-Giving, SpiritView Family,
with a Special thank you, Evan, for listening
and responding so lovingly to our Father-Mother,
God with the gift of SpiritView!

  8. Wonderful blog, Evan. Special thanks to everyone for the spiritual comments. I too, start each morn with the higher point of view. It’s a lovely start to a terrific day. Thank you all!

  9. Yes, I agree with all the comments above and would also like to thank you, Evan, and all the commenters….who everyday brings inspiration and love to all the readers. It’s the first thing I open in my mail every morning and the subject always seems to speak to me.

  10. Just the message I needed. I have been striving to not criticize or judge. I have succeeded in the areas you mentioned, but failed with TV such as when I see a hairdo that I wouldn’t answer the door with. My criticism applies only to outward appearance. I have made progress but still have to remain alert.

  11. A gréât Happy Thanks giving to Evan and to you all from Britany France .
It ‘s such à big blessing each day to read Evan’s new blog.and everyone comment.

  13. Yes, thank you all for the wonderful comments …and Evan. I especially love this part you shared….”When another person does something offensive, rather than get angry or judgmental, know that what you heard, or saw is not a reality to fear or attack, but an unreality to heal with spiritual truth. ”.
Mrs. Eddy counseled Christian Scientists under ALL circumstances to obey the Golden Rule..

We all want to heal and bless. Happy Thanksgiving..

  14. Yes, this is perfect. Just said to a friend this morning that what I most want to work on is being judgmental – to friends, myself, and to everyone. Much gratitude to you, Evan, and to all of you who give such good and useful comments. I’ll include some of this blog, commentary, and Maximo’s poem in our next church newsletter.

  15. What lovely feedback from everyone! Very helpful. And, as always, thank you Evan. So often your blog is a perfect answer to a particular situation in my day. Much gratitude.

  16. Thank you Evan and all who comment.

  17. Wonderful, Bid what you said, and of course I do thank you all, dear commenters very much!

Thank you dear Evan! I am sure we all commenters give lots of love to you for your so blessing and healing SpiritView and we are very much looking forward to another year of such heavenly SpiritViews you are giving us filled with such wonderful spiritual lessons !!!

And dear Kathyw, thank you for mentioning the golden rule wich is integrated in the 6th Tenets on page 15 of the Manuel of The Motherchurch: “And we solemnly promise to watch, and pray for that Mind to be in us which was also in Christ Jesus; to do unto others as we would have them do unto us; and to be merciful, just and pure.” And that`s what Mrs. Eddy counseled Christian Scientists under ALL circumstances to obey! And I think just this Tenet covers all what today´s SpiritView demands. of us all.
Evan, I love your last sentence advising us to choose to be a healer, not a reactor. Yes, lets choose to love, love, love – that will heal everything needing healing! Am so grateful for your this blessing blog incuding the wonderful comments!

    Happy Thanksgiving to you a l l 🙂

    1. Thank you Uta. I never specifically connected the 6th Tenet with the golden rule…but there it is! And yes, I agree it does coincide so nicely with today’s SpiritView. (=
