Don’t let others define you

Ronald McNair was the second African-American to enter space. His life ended in tragedy when the NASA Challenger spaceship exploded after launch in 1986. But he has an interesting history we can all learn from.

This short video chronicles a few of the obstacles he had to overcome along the way.

I especially love the statement near the end of the clip, “Ron is the one who didn’t accept societal norms to be his norm.”

Ron’s innocence and love of truth enabled him to defeat hateful opposition that otherwise would have denied him a path to his dreams. We must not let others define us either.

  1. What a great story of determination and love’s power. Defining ourselves or others by material, outward appearances is so limiting and not productive to gaining insight into the Real true being of God’s creation. What a simple, but yet profound way of helping share this message.
    Thank you, Evan.

  2. Now that’s stepping it up to the next level and showing what we all can do if we only will not accept the limits imposed by ourselves or others.

  3. Dear Evan; I am so happy you brought this up. A few days ago an idea came to me during sleep that no one ever covered in this racist idea. The white man only was the one who invaded Africa and captured a few Negros and made them slaves and now that they are free, they are hated by the very people who put them thru this terrible slave thing. If there is any hate shouldn’t it come from the Negro instead. They were minding their own business when they were invaded by these white people. But today it is the white who hates the blacks. This is crazy. The Negro is on the forgiving side, ever forgiving the white. Now who is practicing Jesus’s law of forgiving thine enemies?
