Eliminate liability for discouragement

October 4, 2018 | 23 comments

I was talking with a friend about how to conquer discouragement. She replied, “I was once told that discouragement is disappointed self-will.”

“How illuminating!” I thought.

Discouragement happens when the human mind outlines a material outcome, or how it thinks conditions should be materially, and then doesn’t see it.

The wiser way is to seek God’s will. God always knows best. God always takes us to the best place possible and outlines optimum circumstances to enjoy.

If self-will gets in the way, it would block thought from seeing the better plan God has in Mind for us to enjoy.

As self-will is dissolved, and God’s will is accepted, what appeared to be blockage, lack and reason for disappointment, vanishes. The divine plan takes form and progress is made.

So, eliminate the liability for being discouraged. Avoid human will. Silence self-will. Seek God’s will! The results will be encouraging.

“Look, the LORD your God has set the land before you; go up and possess it, as the Lord God of your fathers has spoken to you; do not fear or be discouraged” Deut. 1:21, NKJV.

  1. Have you been talking to my Mom? 🙂
She reminded us of that thought almost daily as we were growing up and I in turn reminded my children almost daily of that thought.
The greatest peace I have is when I’m God directed. Not my will dear Father, but your will be done.

  2. Sometimes discouragement is a deep sadness that one has not been able, up to this point, to realize their greater good. Self-blame will never serve anyone’s journey forward. I understand what absolute Christian Science means for us. As people, as a society we are not there yet. We are where we are in our unfoldedment and that is OK. God is with us. He will see us through it.

  3. Disappointment, discouragement and depression are conquered by expression of joy, delight, gratitude and love.

  4. Much needed today! Thank you Evan. Always a work in progress as I find it hard at times to figure out if it is God’s will or if it is self will!

  5. Thanks, Evan! What I’ve discovered so far on My Journey is that we don’t usually get to say WHAT the Journey will Look Like. My Higher Power’s purpose for me is so much Bigger and Deeper than I could ever have imagined and it’s been a very Hard Journey so far! I have been and am being forced to Uncover, Discover and Recover my Lost Self that was sabotaged so long ago in childhood. Songs for the Inner Child: “How could anyone ever tell You – You were anything less than Beautiful? How could anyone ever tell You – You were less than Whole? How could anyone fail to notice that Your Loving is a Miracle….. How deeply You’re connected to my Soul?” Love and Nurture Your Inner Child Today!!!

  6. Let us celebrate
    a life where we
    are strong…
    Like water turning
    rock to sand…
    With burdens lite
    or heavy, short or long…
    We are strong…..

    1. Dear Maximo I have missed your inspired poems. I don’t seem to have seen them for a while. Thank you for today’s poem.

    2. Hi dear Maximo, I missed your inspiring poems, too.
thank your for today`s poem; and please allow me to add a suitable vers to it:

      and thank God we know,
that we only to Him belong…

I love to do that, thanks Maximo 🙂

  7. Disappointed Expectations are Unfulfilled Human Will! An Expectation is a Pre-Meditated Resentment!

  8. Thank you so much, dear Evan, so very inspiring – the foto and your gorgeous lesson about letting go self-will and open up for God`s will. Actually we cannot else but do only God`s will, as we are in reality “the full interpretation of Mind” in that sense Mary Baker Eddy puts it in Science and Health. How comforting it is that we can trust Mrs. Eddy`s words in a l l her writings, as every detail is proved by herself, as well as what the bible says, full of promisses and fulfillments from God to His loved idea, man. I can always say that I am grateful for the teachings of Christian Science.

  9. YES! Thanks Evan and all. And thanks Maximo, it is a beautiful poem, Great message. “Let Go and Let God” Can’t remember where I heard that but use it all the time.

  10. I love everything about this. Have read it a dozen times already. Very helpful. Thank you, Evan. Great work, as always.

  11. Yes, Welcome back, Maximo!

    Another helpful one from you:

    Let us celebrate
    a life where we
    are strong…
    Like water turning
    rock to sand…
    With burdens lite
    or heavy, short or long…
    We are strong…..

I love the thought that our seeming burdens dissolve in Truth’s time and way.
And, WE feel most strong when we are yielding to God’s might, wisdom, and Will!

I love being on The Path with our loving SpiritView Family!
