If you’re looking for more friends in your life, alas, there is a solution. All hope is not lost!
The book of Proverbs has wisdom to share in its statement, “A man who has friends must himself be friendly” (Pro. 18:24).
There is no limit to how kind, generous, thoughtful, and unselfish we can be toward others. Not in seeking something in return, but because that’s the way God made us to be.
And interestingly, the unconditional kindness and buoyant goodwill we show toward others has a way of coming right back at us, and sometimes in the most unexpected ways. A life of giving turns into a life of receiving.
Friendliness begets friendliness.
The first friend we need to find, though, is within. The rest follows.

I had a thought come into my life when I was creating a series of signatures for my Outlook email program that is much like your today’s post. “If you want more love in your life, be more loving.” Thank you for your post, Evan.
I agree with the above. In my experience I do give out,support,listen hove love and do prayers of healing for my friends but it becomes one way friendships. So alot of friends lean on me with their issues etc but are not interested in me or mine.
I think that Jesus went through the same thing. And he never stopped loving!
Yes that definitely does appear to happen sometimes, however we have to keep on loving because any alternative is less rewarding and can leave us feeling unhappy and shortchanged. The loving benefits us too, so it is not one sided. xx

Thanks for that post. This morning I posted something along the same line from Pierre Pradervand’s book 365 Blessings:
“I bless myself in my ability to see that every act of kindness is also a gift to myself, broadening my heart’s outreach, often softening the use of my time, awakening my awareness, filling me with quiet joy and above all teaching me to see myself in my sister or brother. For truly we shall love our neighbors only as we recognize them to be the reflected image of who we are.”
