Finding your needs met

April 16, 2020 | 28 comments

Have you ever felt like your needs aren’t being met? Maybe a friend or partner is not acting up to your expectations, or an employer is overlooking your talents? If so, it’s a ripe opportunity to see how God is meeting your needs.

In Christian Science, one learns that man is not needy. God’s children are fully supplied by divine Love with everything essential to live happy, healthy and progressive lives.

The temptation to feel needy often comes when we look to another person or situation in the material world for our goodness, and don’t find it. The feeling of neediness is not being produced by the person we look to, or by our employer. It is the effect of looking somewhere other than God for only what God can deliver. The cure is to look to God instead for the goodness we seek!

If feeling like your spouse isn’t “meeting your needs,” go to God first and discover how Love can bring more understanding and thoughtfulness into your marriage and create common ground on which you and your spouse can discuss any important issue and reach a mutual agreement.

If feeling like a current employer isn’t “meeting your needs,” go to God first and understand better what God’s plan is for your career. See how everything you need to prosper comes from God and is not held back or constrained by your employer. Bring this expanded understanding of Love’s provision to your workplace and see what unfolds as a result. Experience may improve where you are, or you may end up somewhere else. Divine Love will keep you moving down a progressive path.

With God, you have everything you need to demonstrate a happy, satisfying and rich experience. With God, there are no limits! With God, there is no lack. Your needs have been met.

  1. I am up in the wee small hours of the morning reading Spiritview because I had forgotten to turn off my computer, and because I was worrying about a problem that you mentioned in this blog. Now I can give it to God and I am at peace. Thank you, Father. Thanks, Evan, as always.

  2. Thank you Evan … yes, it is all about beginning rightly, with the truth about God and your identity and then allowing the in-coming Ideas that are included in this Identity to flow. If we start with a belief called ‘a problem’ then we begin to wonder how we’re going to handle it. A.M. grabs our attention by presenting a false belief and then asking: “What are you going to do about this?” and we suddenly find our self caught ‘on the back foot’. Beginning rightly with God’s perspective, we are then able to allow the abundance of associated Ideas to flow. SH 124:20 “Adhesion, cohesion, and attraction are properties of Mind.” Right ideas are a magnet to other good ideas. Hymn 324:1 “Take my life, and let it be Consecrated, Lord, to Thee. Take my moments and my days, Let them flow in ceaseless praise. Take my hands, and let them move At the impulse of Thy love.”

    1. Great start today F: Love your phrase, the “on the back foot”‘; I’m ready and willing to start on the “right foot”, rely on the goodness God has in store for today, then both feet will carry me on to reveal what God will guide me to DO! I can only do good, following the path of Christ. Great promise to start the day, and leaving the back foot of yesterday behind. Lead me Oh LORD in thy path, let me not be put to confusion!!!!”

    2. Thank you F. (= Your comment about
in-coming thoughts reminded me of Mrs. Eddy’s statement in Miscellaneous Writings p. 306:22 in her article ANGELS “…it is a spiritual idea that lights your path! …God gives you His spiritual ideas, and in turn they give you daily supplies. Never ask for tomorrow: it is enough that divine Love is an ever-present help; and if you wait, (wait on God, depend on God) never doubting, you will have all you need every moment.”

This little article is filled with God’s tender love for us. Thank you especially Evan for your helpful blog.

  3. Thank you Evan. Bless you for sharing your uplifting thoughts during this challenging time!

You have reminded me that I was having a problem with my husband’s snoring disturbing my sleep. I was getting frustrated and I prayed to know how to deal with the situation. I didn’t just want to move into another bedroom. The angel message was to love him more and focus on appreciating his spiritual qualities, which I started to do, Then I found that gradually the snoring did not disturb me as much and it became less and less. I don’t say it never happens, but I am not disturbed by it and I appreciate my husband so much more! Especially during this lockdown, we laugh a lot together!

  4. Thanks ever so much Evan for the lovely inspiration. I am reminded of Hymn no. 134. Which says :
“I look to Thee in every need, and never look in vain; I feel Thy touch eternal Love, and all is well again: The thought of Thee is mightier far than sin and pain and sorrow are.

Thy calmness bends serene above, my restlessness to still; Around me flows Thy quickening life to nerve my faltering will: Thy presence fills my solitude; Thy Providence turns all to good.

Embosomed deep in Thy dear love, held in Thy law, I stand: Thy hand in all things I behold, and all things in Thy hand.
Thou leadest me by unsought ways, Thou turn’st my mourning into praise.”

Turning to God always brings the right answers in our life. God never fails nor forsakes us but divinely cares for all our needs. Thanks be to the most gracious God for every blessing in our life both big and small.

    3. Thank you for sharing this hymn Nergish. It rings so true! I especially love this line, “Thou leadest me by unsought ways,“
When we let go of how we think things should go, we start seeing the good that is unfolding in our lives. It is better than anything we could ever plan! 🙂

  5. Such a simple request- look to God first. As appreciation grows and frustration with the pointlessness of mortal mind , we turn to God first. This time, working at home, has brought me
challenges and also the time to pray and read more. Spirtiviiew is a life line for me.Thanks to Evan and everyone who comments.

For me. so yesterday, I baked bread and was very pleased with results.

  12. This is one of life’s great lessons to find that God meets our every need. Particularly during this stay-at-home experience, along with many, I am finding that as I understand each individual’s oneness with God, we are all better able to work together harmoniously. Thank you , Evan, and everyone for sharing thoughts on this very important subject.

  13. Dear Evan,
It must give you great pleasure to see how your blog expands and grows and gives so many of us the opportunity to share and to bless others.
    Much gratitude to all

  14. Yes, thank you Evan! As a mother of two grown sons who have busy lives, I admit I’d been feeling neglected (and needy, as I live alone). Whenever I feel loneliness I remember to realize we are never alone because we are all one (al-one). One with our Father and Mother, one with continual joy and inspiration. Recently, when wishing I’d get a call from my sons, I began to feel so grateful knowing that they loved me. A voice inside me said, “That is enough!” I have been freed from pining for a call. A day or two later I did receive a call from one and we had a joyous visit. Another blessing during the last couple months, is the closeness I’ve felt to Christ Jesus. He feels like the brother I never had. So much to be thankful for!!

  15. Thank you so very much, Evan, and hearty thanks to all the inspiring comments by fellow SV-ers. These are all so vital in this very unusual time in human (mortal) life, reminding us to refocus spiritually. Bless you, dear Evan, and everyone.

  16. This was very helpful, thank you. I like the thought you shared about looking to God instead of another person or employer etc. for fulfilling our needs.

  17. Thank you Evan for this wonderfully clear SpiritView again. And I love my friend, who once told me to subscribe to your SpiritView as it is so very good.
Love your last paragraph, Evan which says, as with God all things are possible, we have everything we need, to demonstrate a happy, satisfying and rich experience. With God, there are no limits! With God, there is no lack. Our needs have been met.
What a rich and great promise is given to us here. So we are indeed the rich children of an overrich Father-Mother God. Thanks again very much for it!
I am also grateful for all the wonderful comments!
