Forgive quickly

December 8, 2025 | 18 comments

If any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.

(Col. 3:13, KJV)

Forgive as quickly and completely as the Master forgave you.

(Col. 3:13, The Message)

Forgiveness is often misunderstood.  Forgiveness isn’t so much about the other person as it is for us.

Resentment, anger, ill-will, malice, self-righteous pride are enemies to health and happiness.  When we carry them around in thought it’s like inviting robbers and thieves into our home and letting them do as they will.  They hurt and harm.

Forgiveness is the ability to see the bigger picture of God in control.  It’s the ability to let go of grievances and continue living a Life filled with Love.  Just as Jesus did.

No one gets away with sin.  All sin must be faced, repented of, and replaced with right thinking and acting by everyone at one point or another.

When we let go of a grievance, we are not ignoring sin.  We are refusing to let it pull us down morally and spiritually.  We are putting it into the hands of God and letting divine justice work its wise way.

The quicker we forgive, the faster we progress spiritually.  It’s the happier healthier way to live.

  1. Hello Evan,
thank you very much for this post! It comes at exactly the right time. Just yesterday, I had a conversation with someone who is unable to behave respectfully in discussions and always portrays others as stupid. That annoyed me quite a lot. But now I’m back on track.

  2. What a great reminder to understand not only the need to let go of resentment as a preventative for oneself to suffer for another’s sinful misbehavior, but also an assurance that sin is not pardoned UNTIL it is forsaken. Therefore, letting go of resentment is not condoning sin or pretending it didn’t seem to happen, but is really a separation from believing it can cause or effect “real” harm.
I love these daily reminders from Evan!

  3. Thank you Evan for these precious statements.
Recently A good friend of mine had a serious argument
Concerning CS. He argued that either you believe
In God and have faith it’s one thing, but cannot have both science and faith. A one point we got off the phone and of course my inner peace was gone with it!
Half an hour later I called him back and apologized about the topic. I even made it like a joke saying imagine we both are in heaven and still arguing about this conversation .
What a clear and inspiring words you give us to bring peace and clarity in our. Screen- consciousness. Mortal mind has no place arguing and take away our spiritual inner peace.
    Thank you SpiritView..

  4. Well-timed! I was just reading a blessing from Pierre Pradervand’s book365 Blessings to heal myself and the world, and here are a few of his words:
“I believe it is impossible to live a happy life if one nourishes resentment for some harm done to oneself, or guilt or repressed anger for an error of omission or commission we caused. On the other hand, we become incapable of resentment when we have understood that everyone is at every moment at their highest level of consciousness. We then live in deep peace and quiet joy.

I bless myself in my ability to understand that forgiveness is one of the greatest gifts I could ever make to myself and to the world…” PP

    1. That is lovely, Manuela – thank you for sharing that.

I have just been thinking about this topic,

Before I was led to Christian Science I had
usually not even thought about forgiveness, but just
let it upset me, allowing myself to become a victim. But also, thinking about it, I should have made sure
I was not inadvertently guilty of setting off the problems by my own attitude.

I have found such help from studying Christian Science on how important it is to keep our thoughts
above all these attempts by material-mindedness to drag us down.

If I inadvertently say or doing something that is not
loving, or having someone say or do something
towards me that is unloving, I need to quickly realise
that it is not what God is knowing or doing,,and it therefore has no validity, and quickly forgive myself and others

I find it easier to forgive by knowing
that when error speaks or does anything,
nothing has been said or done. God is the only speaker and doer, and we can only actually
reflect what God is seeing and doing.

I am still learning, but it is becoming easier
to recognise the symptoms before they have a
chance to upset the harmony that is what
God is expecting us to experience..

Christian Science is such a great boon, and
there is infinite good for us to learn and to love.

    2. Thank you Manuela. I love this sentence: “…..we become incapable of resentment when we have understood that everyone is at every moment at their highest level of consciousness.” That really says it all.

    1. Thank you Evan, this is a wonderful Spirit View!

And thank you J for choosing this article on forgiveness to share with us, such wonderful demonstrations of love and forgiveness.

      1. Thank you Evan and thank you J for the link above. Myrtle Smith has so much clarity in her articles and lectures.
For those of you who aren’t aware ….If you look up Slanus Greenstreet on u-tube he has quite a few of her lectures recorded. The sound quality can be wanting but the spiritual messages are immensely helpful and full of demonstration.

  5. How grateful I am for today’s SpiritView (truly this can be said every day!) but the idea of forgiveness is so much more than “feeling sorry. “. It is a transformation as others have said. How wonderful to read our beloved Myrtle Smyth’s article, and be reminded of her powerful lectures and articles. She became one of my family’s favorites as we know her personally, admired how she helped promote peace in Northern Ireland, as well as finding peace in our own lives. She was fearless in sharing her life experiences, and helped bring peace in countless lives, including my own.
    Thank you for sharing, J
    Love to all

Sometimes we love someone so dearly, we want them to experience more
than a limited sense , as seen through the mortal. They may feel that we
are a “bad person” for our opinions that may differ from theirs and
disruption of harmony seems to persist, even with these good intentions,
maybe on both “sides” with each feeling they are right. But
it is God’s Love that is what prevails, despite what Seems to be causing
    the seeming lack of peace.
When we for give – we … give for … them and ourselves – a healing,
spiritual sense of freedom and joy (from matter) … that transcends the
mortal, material, limited and everyone is benefitted in a lasting way that
overcomes the sense of mortal mind’s way of “thinking”. The way I
    understand it, anyway.

  8. Christian Science came slowly into my life and during covid when library books stopped being delivered to this remote island by mailplane.. MBE’s books got dusted off and it was very new finding lectures on the internet. Myrtle Smyth is a beacon on the rocky shore..What a Christmas binge to gather amongst her lectures ..slanus greenstreet,?..yes, thank you every one..
Forgiveness must be a synonym for Love.. and feelings last night, I particularly was pondering on there being no separation of God Christ and selflessness, then there is no one else outside of this loving activity of forgiveness, realizing mercy is as constant..there was no burden to carry with the false view of mortality..Mind is Peace…Jeepers no one needs a spaceship to heaven, or satalite..
receptor .The Lighthouse just is infinite.

  9. “deep peace and quiet joy”

Yes! What a Goal, and…the reality of God’s idea, man. This is US!
(And there IS NO “OTHER MAN.” Dualism…the belief in two kinds of man, God’s man AND
mortal, material man…is the error to be removed from thought. No small challenge, but as Columbus determined that the Earth must be Round (and only Round!) so we must choose: We are God’s ideas, period…not also another…idea: mortals! No. No such thing as a Flat Earth AND a Round Earth! This simple analogy says a lot, huh! Jesus taught only in symbols and parables, so I think he’d approve! :<))
