If you ever feel stalled, held back, or limited in some way, it’s an opportunity to remember the truth about living in God’s universe.
In God’s universe, there is no halting of progress. It is continuous and constant. God’s good is ever appearing.
Mary Baker Eddy reminds us, “Creation is ever appearing, and must ever continue to appear from the nature of its inexhaustible source” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 507).
God’s creation is wholly good. Infinite good. Eternal good. There is no limit or bounds to the goodness of God. It continues to unfold for your benefit, and without end. The good never stops. It multiplies ad infinitum.
Be consciously living in God’s universe, a universe of Spirit, and you’ll see the good continuing to unfold before you. It’s ever appearing.
A dictionary definition of
Unfoldment is the act, process, or result of unfolding. It generally refers to a gradual development, evolution, or manifestation of something that was previously hidden or incomplete.
I love the word – it is to me a symbol of immortality,
because our spiritual understanding is forever unfolding.
Thinking of this in a material way, one can unfold
a sheet, and all you get ever is a sheet, although useful.
Unfolding a roll of material e.g. for dressmaking is similar.
Useful but finite. A flower unfolds, and that is a lovely
thing to behold, but it lasts only for a short while and
then withers away, and we have to wait for a new flower
to apper, which goes through the same process, and from
a material point of view they can be uprooted, or be
destroyed by bad weather, or lack of water etc.
Unfoldment of life as spiritual is a wonderful thing to
contemplate. We don’t know what will unfold for us,
but we know it will be wonderful, and will progress
and continue to unfold forever. As Evan says, it is
God’s universe unfolding for us, and is inexhaustible
and wonderful. It cannot be stopped, just as the dawn
cannot be prevented from appearing. As an article says,
if the whole of the material world throws its weapons
against the appearing of the dawn, it cannot stop it.
So we know that nothing can prevent our being a part
of God’s spiritual unfoldment for each of us. It unfolds
forever.
Perfect message for me today, Evan. And Maggie, I had been recently thinking about progress and your words on enfoldment are a perfect way to describe what I was thinking about. Thank you!
Hi Maggie! I just read the article you mentioned that had the reference to nothing being able to stop the dawn. Link below.

Thanks, Robert for supplying the link.
Thank you for reminding me of this most excellent article.
Maggie, when I read Evan’s posting I also thought of Being is Unfoldment. That article is a true gem and pure Science.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
max, I have just read your contribution, and I am not sure
if anyone else has given a link to Being is Unfoldment –
but I will supply it below. I had forgotten about that, and
haven’t read it for years. Anyway, here it is:

Thank you, Evan—always!

GiFUGO!
The sun is always shining, even if we do not see it, because where we
happen to be might be darkness or night … or stormy clouds may obstruct
it from view. Like the beautiful photo above, dawn of Spirit is always with us.
In hymn #154 is inspiration along these lines:
“In Thee, O Spirit true and tender, I find my life as God’s own child;
Within Thy light of glorious splendor I lose the earth-clouds drear and wild.
Within Thy love is safe abiding From every thought that giveth fear;
Within Thy truth a perfect chiding, Should I forget that Thou are near.
In Thee I have no pain or sorrow, No anxious thought, no load of care.
Thou are the same today, tomorrow; Thy love and truth are everywhere.”
Thank you Evan. I have been feeling stalled and frustrated lately and I really needed this Spirit view. I need to focus on seeing God’s good progress unfold and “let patience have her perfect work.”
If we look with our spiritual sense, we can see the good reflected around us and within us. If I can’t seem to see the good, I must be in a state of delusion, looking with material sense.
Right now I don’t see it. For several weeks I seem to be trapped in a false view with dark thoughts, heaviness, stuckness (if that is a word). Would love some encouragement, light, prayer from our very wise SpiritViewers. Thanks all.
Hi Rose. You’re not alone. Thanks for being honest and reaching out. I woke up feeling “stalled,” and with various appearances trying to tempt me into dark thoughts. I went out for a walk in nature with my husband, and lost my “self” in listening to the birds, the wind, the river. Like Evan and Cathy, Greg and I are more and more drawn to nature, and recently moved to Colorado to be surrounded by it. In addition to correcting and uplifting our thinking, we find that the unstoppable nature vibes raise our mood. Even in a city, there is a sky to contemplate and one’s own aliveness, unstoppable…
Rose, you are not dtuckness. You are a gentle beam of living love – the loved of Love.
Dear Rose, you are not in stuckness. you are a gentle beam of living Love – the loved of Love.
Dear Rose, I find singing praises to God helps to lift me out of deprewsion
Here is a little poem: Another hug from me, Maggie xx
PRAISE
MARION SUSAN CAMPBELL
From the April 1924 issue of The Christian Science Journal
Help me to sing Thy praise
In little, nameless ways.
The smallest deed done, Lord, for Thee
Makes such sweet melody;
Oh, foolishness from singing thus to cease,
Losing, thereby, my peace.
Dear God! the birds upon the leafy trees
Sing but Thy harmonies;
Keep me in tune like these.
And self be silent, lest I miss
This song of happiness.
I just realised that Oregon Reader needs lots of love too –
so I am including you in the same message and poem that I have sent to Rose above – with big hugs too, Maggie xx
Dear Rose…when ever I feel I need to break out of a false material picture I like to compare it to taking off in an aeroplane , feeling the bumps and watching the clouds until eventually the aircraft breaks through it all to find the suns unstoppable rays shining down on everything! Clarity and progress in spiritual perception is just like that…always there, always ours. As Evan says…’there is no halting of progress..’’…you are uplifted right now!
Thank you Rose and everyone for all your beautiful contributions to SV…a blessing of Gods good.
Much Love Rose.Barbara.x
After reading Evan’s blog post this morning, I was inspired to read the chapter entitled “Creation” from S&H. It’s only 12 pages, so I plan to read it a couple of more times this weekend. A link to this chapter is below.

To Rose…I once called a practitioner/teacher of CS when experiencing what you described in your comment. She was so loving and suggested that I just sit down and read Science and Health. Just start somewhere and read it continuously instead of just reading citations like we have in the Bible Lesson. The Bible Lesson is great, but when S&H was first published, there was no Bible Lesson and people just read S&H like a textbook. The chapter Fruitage is full of testimonies of people that were healed just by reading the book continuously. I did what the practitioner described, not asking her for treatment, and it was very helpful. Often when I read S&H like a textbook I see citations I’m familiar with from the Bible Lesson in context and seeing how the citation fits in with the surrounding text brings out new meaning.
Rose, know that nothing can prevent you from being aware that God is All. And that Allness is expressed as you, me, everyone, and everything. It’s expressed as idea! God, Love, is all there is. A depressing suggestion is not true and you, as God’s expression, do not have to accept that as part of your being or part of God’s idea. God loves you! God is the only Mind. Therefore, God is your Mind. Depression/Darkness/Doubt/etc. are just suggestions. They are like the spam phone calls that try to convince you to give them money. Don’t answer. And if you’ve already answered, you have the power to hang up on those thoughts. The ONLY reality is the reality God causes. We don’t have to accept lies about God’s reality…they are not true…they have no power to make us accept them. The “devil” had no power to push Jesus off the top of the temple. Just know that God is entirely good and focus on that to the exclusion of everything else! Be grateful for every good idea, however small and you will defeat these depressing suggestions!
Here’s a great testimony about how gratitude can break the hypnotic suggestions of evil/error.
Gratitude preceded healing

I’ve been feeling pretty much like Rose and the treatment from RobertH is very helpful. The Daily Lift for June 4 by Laurie Toupin was a bright spot this morning, even though I had read it before.
I don’t comment very often, but read SV daily and appreciate all who contribute. Wouldn’t mind if you could send support my way. I am a lifelong student of Christian Science and branch church member and member of TMC.
Blessings.
Dear Oregon Reader, I was typing below so didn’t see your comment until
now, so love to you, also, with a big HUG.
Oh, Dear Rose. Thank you for sharing what appears to be darkness or “stuckness”.
You have always shared such beautiful, wonderful thoughts and this heaviness is
not really a part of you. Humanly, I do know the feeling. I think we all have felt that
way from time to time. It is just a suggestion of mortal thinking (mortal mind) that is
trying to bring you down. As a loving and loveable child of God, you are innately
buoyant and the light of Father/Mother joy can not be taken from you. The
suggestions that Robert above, have given are very helpful to all of us. Thank you,
Robert and of course, Thank you to Evan for his wealth of spiritual blessings so
unselfishly given to us through this most inspiring blog. We are a family of spiritual
inclusion and you, dear Rose, have uplifted so many of us with your supportive
thoughts, that this depression that you seem to be experiencing can not drag you
down, out of God/Love’s divine embrace. Like a little child being comforted by this
divine Love, you are enveloped within this sweet and warming blanket of ever-present
Good. Darkness has no part of your or anyone’s True being. A big HUG to you!
‘Rose from New York’..has already happened
always rising,…forever beaming as Gods Perfect Idea..
‘Rose’ .. may suggest there is a ‘selfull’, .. a person trying to disable God, All Good which is impossible., like once we see the comedy, the laughter ‘rose’
rose beyond the Pretentiousness of evil the skull-duggery
even beyond the upper balcony….we woke up.
One might watch the Marx Brothers.. Away To The Races..
the Comedy of Errors, from Minds Ideas.
Happy views ..Spirits perennial youth
I searched the internet for “when did depression become prevalent” and “when did antidepressant drugs start.” I found the following:
– Prior to the 1950s, depression was considered “rare”.
– In the 1950s, the first drugs were developed to treat depression.
– In the 1970s, newer drugs were introduced to treat depression. In the 1970s, cases of depression “exploded”.
– In 1987, the drug Prozac was released.
– “1990s to 2021: According to the Global Burden of Disease Study, prevalent cases of depressive disorders globally surged by 88.52%.”
That’s last entry in the list below is a direct quote from the internet search results I got and if that doesn’t confirm what CS teaches about drug companies causing more reliance on drugs, versus providing true “healing”, I don’t know what does. What I concluded from the above was as more drugs were introduced to treat depression, the population manifested more depression, versus less.
A few weeks ago I shared a podcast where Deborah Huebsch realized how she needed to handle “general belief” or ” “the belief held by the majority of people.” I’ve been conscious of doing that since I listened to this podcast about a year ago and it’s been very helpful. These negative thoughts that come to us are not *our* thoughts. They are also not from God. They are “a mere negation” of the truth about God and man. We have the ability to defeat these negative thoughts! It’s the Christ, or the true idea (God’s idea) about reality that defeats negative thoughts. Hold to the truth, y’all, and you’ll win! It may take 5 minutes, it may take weeks or even months. But it’s the only way to gain freedom.
Here again is the link tot he podcast I mentioned above.

Typo…I meant to write “That last entry in the list above…” instead of “That’s last entry in the list below…”
That is an excellent podcast and addresses the importance of all of us being alert to these “ general beliefs “ that are swirling around in the human atmosphere of thought . These experiences of what appear as depression or “ mental health “ issues need vigorous denial . Several of my friends (good dedicated , effective Christian
Scientists ) are being similarly challenged at the moment – it would seem that mortal mind would attempt to disarm the prayerful work of those who are actively demonstrating this wonderful Science . I have found ir helpful to protect my thinking , both before sleeping and first thing when waking , with specific protective prayer – as Eddy recommends in S& H . This is challenging for us all but when we realise it is not personal but a collective attempt to close down the healing that is taking place in many wonderful ways – we can give thanks that in holding the line against error’s fraudulent claims we are helping to strengthen our whole Movement
Thank you to everyone who replied to me. Your thoughts and input are priceless and I am very grateful. Drinking it all in and am already feeling the power of your prayers and Love. Just sharing it helped, then to see the many responses here from the dear children of God does me much GOOD. Nothing can keep me from my good because nothing can keep me from my God. ❤️❤️❤️
Rose, I am adding my loving thoughts to you here. Your contributions on Spiritview have inspired and encouraged me. I feel we are such a family of God’s children here and you are a great blessing to us.
Thank you Evan and all for all of the Love and Truth!
I am reminded of an article I read in which the writer was praying for a healing. She learned to really cast all on God – to stop thinking she was responsible for her healing, her health and know that God is in control. She uses the analogy of Spring following Winter – writing that even in places with long, (seemingly) hard, winters, no one doubts that Spring will come – and that the very power, God, who we trust to have Spring follow Winter, we can trust – is always “unfolding” all Good in our lives.
And, when feeling tempted with discouragement, I love to think of the part of Isaiah, where we are promised a “garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness”
Again, thanks all!
Love, love, LOVED “know that God is in control” and “Spring following Winter”, where we can trust is always “unfolding ” all Good in our lives. The expession+s you’ve used caused me the lift I’ve sought recently. Thank you for sharing the uplifted thought to give all power to GOD, whom I’ve trusted my whole life.
I love your response! It makes me so glad that I felt guided to share this.
Thank you!
