Hi Pee W., As I’m understanding it, there is only One, That one, self-containment is God. God is all! It’s interesting We say and read and hear that God is all. How often do we stop to think about what that means? Truly, what is there beside all? So God is the only “one.” We come in as God’s self expression, in an infinite, expansive variety. There’s a lot in that. That’s where our studying and praying and deep contemplation comes in to understand these powerful spiritual truths. Happy understanding, unfolding in thought to you, me and all today.
Thanks for your thoughts Trista. Made me think of this from Deuteronomy 6:4-5
“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.”
Yes we are all growing in understanding and awakening to our natural oneness with God, Love.
God is love and there is only one kind of man..
And, that man is the loved of God.
Mortal affection can be so fleeting and changing..
I think Augustine glimpsed the profound truth Mrs Eddy fully demonstrated.. God is Love, impartial and universal..
Thanks Pee W and Trista…..for breaking down & simplifying the concept of One. The only One! Whom we all reflect in an infinite variety of expressions. Similar to what we learned in primary school….”there are not two snowflakes alike”.
Daily I am His delight
Daily He rejoices in
His handiwork—
all fresh, all bright,
all wrought from elemental light
to be what He beholds as me.
His song sung out in world this day!
His theme in play! His act of joy!
Love laughs. And
O it is laughter
that I am! His poem, His psalm!
In sight of Him
how fashioned of gladness
I must be! How lark-on-wing
A thing that—That He
daily should thus
delight in me: His poem, His song
sung out, His theme!
The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.
(Zephaniah 3:17)
Thank you so much, Caroline, for reminding me of Doris Peel’s beautiful poem and for this Bible verse which is a favorite of mine❣️
.. and thank you for this lovely post, Evan, and the sweet picture
Carolyne – thank you for sharing that wonderful poem by Doris Peel that my Christian Science Teacher shared with us. It has been a loved favorite and re-read many times. I’m going to see myself as “His song sung out in world this day!”
In the beginning was One alone;
Seeing nothing but Himself, he said, “This is I.”
So “I” became his name forever;
Consequently, to this day, a man thinks of
himself as “I
And he must be taught some other name,
But to himself he is “I”, for that is
the name of the One.
The man said, “Since it is all I, is there anything
to fear from it?”
And the answer from everything was “No”,
For fear can only spring from a second,
And All was One.
So all creation, when they know they
are part of the One, have nothing to fear.
Can you feel fear for yourself?
No.
And all is thyself.
Linda, it may be from an old legend, but it is a legendary TRUTH from through the ages. I love to read things like this that prove so clearly that Truth has always been known by someone and has been passed down through earthly history. No religion owns The Truth…it belongs to ONE and ALL (which are actually the same !)
Evan thanks for focusing our thought today on God’s great love for us. How good it is to bask in that Love and also to remember that He is no respecter of persons and loves us all equally. With that love we can love Him and each other, and we can also love ourselves. Not as material selves but as individual expressions of spiritual qualities. He gives us His gifts and talents and guides us in expressing His good in unique ways in the world. We are the apple of His eye, as we read in last week’s lesson on Mind.
Thank you Evan and all who posted today.
The thought of snowflakes brought this to me: the concept of Snowflake is One (we may think of the idea Man.) Yet there are an infinitude of unique snowflake expressions within that infinite idea of Snowflake, which is infinite because its thinker is divine Mind.
As for Augustine’s reflection, I understood it as: God has no favorites. God being wholly infinite, God’s love for each of His/Her offspring ideas must necessarily be infinite too. And it’s not possible to love some “more infinitely” than others :)) ! Ever grateful for this inspiring, loving family of SpiritView. A lovely infinite day to all.
Very special love, indeed from our Father-Mother God
Because, even though I cannot fully understand this, there actually is only one of us?

When there is only one of its kind, it is precious and treasured. Thinking of rate Pokemon cards and how they are the apple of the collector’s eye!

In other words, there is no one in the world that God loves more than you.
… and you, Kathie
