Happy Thanksgiving

November 24, 2022 | 74 comments

It’s Thanksgiving Day in the USA, one of my most favorite days of the year.

I am grateful to know God, to live Christ, to have Christian Science, for my church, for love, for my friends, family, and neighbors around the world striving to live peaceful progressive lives. And I’m grateful for you, a vibrant community of spiritually minded readers and contributors who consistently shower love and goodwill toward one another as we all pursue a common goal of understanding spiritual truth better.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving Day wherever you happen to be!

Love to all.

  1. Evan thank you for sharing with us the things you are grateful for. And so lovely to hear of your gratitude for us, your SpiritView community who, “consistently shower love and good will toward one another as we all pursue a common goal of better understanding spiritual truth.”

I’ll mention again (said it late yesterday) that while we’re in a thankful mood, it’s a good time to make a donation toward the upkeep of our beloved SpiritView. Click on the About page and scroll to the bottom to find the Contribute button. Giving feels good and is an expression of our God-given quality of generosity.

Online Thanksgiving service from the Mother Church at 12 noon (ET), replay available till 5pm Sunday.

  2. We have no official Thanksgiving Day in the UK as you do in the USA, but every day is a day for giving thanks for Christian Science and for all those ways we are helped to understand it a little better. A blessed day to all of you all over the world.

As Linda says, we don’t have an official day here in the UK. The Harvest Festivals tend to be in late Sept early Oct and are a wonderful celebration of all those involved with the harvest, the harvest itself and the blessing it provides to us, our homes and communities.

I have been invited to a Thanksgiving “dinner” it will be at 2pm and Macy’s Parade will be on too (5hrs time difference), which I believe is quite something.

Tonight, at Church, we have our Thanksgiving service, so although thousands of miles away, the blessing will circle the globe.

  31. My Thanksgiving gratitude cup for Evan and his Spiritview runs over. Many articles I have printed out and mailed to others. The recipients are very surprised at the all encompassing spirituality of the articles and all are so grateful to receive SV copies. They tell me how the beautiful spirituality of
the writing helped them learn how to pray and communicate with God.
Their acceptance and gratitude for the SV uplift makes this Thanksgiving
especially full of love and gratitude. Love to all.

  32. so grateful to have you every morning to start my day with correct thinking…one of my morning highlights…thank you Evan! and to other readers who contribute & share!

  33. HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO YOU EVAN AND HOPE YOUR “FAMILY DAY” IS SPECIAL AND UPLIFTING. WE ALL HAVE SO MUCH TO BE GRATEFUL FOR, EACH DAY!

  34. Happy Thanksgiving to all. And thank you, Evan, for the ongoing care and thoughtfulness in your posts, letters, and daily work. I’d also like to express gratitude for all the resources and connections through Association and church. I’ve recently been studying all the material for children and youth on “early lessons” material! What a wealth of spiritual support. Hugs to all.

  35. A message of love and Thanksgiving goes out to all the “lone-wolfer” scientists (or anyone) out there too.

That is, those who’s nature with God is so deeply personal, that they dare not share with a post, maybe nobody around you is of like mind to understand, and your certainly dare not step inside a church or join any organization. Maybe you aren’t humanly lonely, but your nature seems such that you go it alone.

It takes one to know one.

I know you are there. I can see your beautiful spiritual eyes in the deep calm of night-thought giving away your position.

And that’s cool if you don’t creep forward to the table. Lone-wolf’s are just as much of God’s creation too, without implying that there is anything wrong with that!

So Happy Thanksgiving and Love goes out to all those who think they are unseen as well! 🙂

  36. I am so truly grateful to you Evan. I really love reading your email every day. thank you for being a shining example to me.

  37. Thank you Evan for all that you do to support your students, this world and the Cause of Christian Science. You are a blessing to us.

  38. Thank you Evan for your faithfulness and helping us move forward in our journey spiritward. Abundant blessings to you and your family.

  39. Thanks J! And of course everybody!

Sometimes I need to stop doing the heavy number-crunching and just be grateful.

I put my bell-bottom pants back on (mentally) and listened to the Allman Brothers song “Soulshine”.

    I love you Terri !
